Pocahontas is from the new Disney Princess Royal Shimmer range by Hasbro who have recently replaced Mattel as the manufacturer for Disney Princess. My daughter like most little girls LOVES Disney and Disney Princess and my son loves all of the movies too. I don't think there are many young children who either don't like them or haven't liked them before growing out of them and as we have managed to test a few of this new range recently we have also been re-watching our Disney favourite films with the dolls alongside (daughter insists on them sitting on the sofa with us!). The film Pocahontas is actually one of my favourite films and my young son is absolutely transfixed to the movie when wewatch it.Pocahontas is beautiful however her face just isn't quite right and possibly needs a bit more work to get it to be a better representation of the character and for that reason I have deducted a star from my marking. I also don't like the included boots and I agree with another reviewer that they make her look like a cowgirl however my daughter loves the boots and they are part of her game "swap the shoes on the dolls then promptly lose one of them somewhere in the house!". She cannot stand on her own and so a doll stand would have been a nice extra touch. Pocahontas' arms and legs can move along with her head and she can be placed into a sitting position but she does not have any extra joints at the knees or elbows as with some dolls. Her dress is fully removable instead of having half of her body painted along with a removable skirt and her boots, necklace and belt are removable too. My daughter loves undressing and re-dressing dolls which I think most children do and swapping clothes and shoes between them and so it's nice for the doll to have a full dress. I love Pocahontas' dress which is beautifully detailed and designed and I love the suede type material on the edges. The skirt part of the dress also has the glitter shimmer effect that the other Princess dolls have on their skirt parts along with beautiful brown variated shading and a blue leaf design. The bodice part also has brown glitter embroidered leaf designs on it and more suede type material for the shoulder strap and bodice edging. Although I'm not overly fussed about her boots they are nicely detailed with tassel and feather molding designs on them and they don't fall off by themselves which is a bonus in the house of lost doll shoes!Pocahontas' hair is beautifully soft and very much the same lovely softness and long length as the Mulan doll. My one slight negative which I haven't deducted any stars for is that I think the packaging is a bit cheap feeling but considering the doll is so reasonably priced and beautifully made, this is really me being picky. I also love that her body shape isn't the usual curvaceous shape that you seem to find with most dolls and it is a much more natural shape which is really welcome with a young impressionable daughter and a thank you to Hasbro for doing this. I'm not too sure with all that running around and climbing etc that Pocahontas would have wider hips and a chubbier derriere though and so maybe this one doll they could have kept on the skinnier side but it's nice that the body shape isn't the typical skinny one with big chest and as a Mum I appreciate Hasbro deviating from this.In summary a gorgeous Pocahontas doll and one of my favourites from the range and if the face was a bit more like the character this would have been a very easy 5 stars. The doll is reasonably priced and has been beautifully designed and I love her dress and her hair which is really soft, thick and silky. A beautifully made doll that would be my second choice out of the ones we have seen and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend even allowing for her different shaped face. One other thing I almost forgot to mention is that the dolls have a few different heights too which I think is a great idea along with the different body shapes and out of the dolls we do have in height order from tallest to shortest are; Pocahontas, Cinderella (Pocahontas & Cinderella same height), Tiana, Mulan (Tiana & Mulan same height), Ariel and Snow White (Ariel and Snow White same height).

Overall for £10.99 this is brilliant value, it is a budget limited posability doll but is a great starter doll or introduction for young girls to the Disney lines, you wouldn't worry too much about them being bashed, delicate articulation points damaged or clothes swapped at this price point compared to some of their more expensive productions.this is a line I would be happy to purchase for my 3 year old daughter, but due to its obvious mass production and limited accessories, personally doesn't have enough 'magic' for a adult collection. Photos attached to help illustrate my review.Tiana has a gorgeous little face, truer to the animation image than some of the others in the line and it's lovely to see movement towards a more realistic skintone than some other productions of dark skinned dolls and it's nice to see less yellow and orange tones in the plastic blend. Her head plastic is a little firmer than some of our other dolls, which meant removing from the box was a little more complicated and needed a really good yanking to get far enough away from the cardboard to snip and trim the 3 plastic ties in her head. Her face up is perfect, wide brown eyes, no misalignment, simple makeup and a burgundy red lip, pretty without being too 'plastered' like some other brands.I am very disappointed though that they decided to paint her green gloves onto the skin, as it really limits her to this dress alone which as one of the few ethnic and the only Black doll in the collection is a let down that she lacks the versatility of the other princesses.Tiana's hair is a little bit of a let down as its meant to be an oversized bun behind the tiara fixed with plastic ties, it's very over sprayed with clumps of styling product visible and is basically a just held ponytail flipped over as sections came loose from the 'setting' just whilst I was handling her for review. Her proper hair is very short and would require a boil wash to sort out if the hairstyle went completely. Her body shape is a big bonus for me, yes she is still skinny but her actual torso, hips and thighs are considerably chunkier and smaller breasted than the traditional Barbie body type that Disney dolls use, her body is much more adolescent than the pneumatic type used previously. This is a great move forward for dolls taking hints from the Lammily and Lottie dolls and the new launch by Barbie of varying body types, nice that Disney has considered this point in their toys aimed at young girls regardless of your opinion on the topic.Of course it does pose a problem that should Tiana get fed up of her outfit she cannot wear traditional Barbie clothes or Monster high/Ever After high clothes, but then there is a lot of this when you buy across brands or collections. Her dress recreates (cheaply) the look at the end of the film when she marries her Prince and they turn back into humans, although not a copy it recreates enough of the detail to be clearly identifiable. The dress is made from a coated and printed polyester fabric which is very stiff. It is both a talking point with the holographic glitter and a let down as it is pretty roughly made. There has been attempt to pattern match at the back (though just missing the mark) but there was a big misstitch and thus loosened thread on the Velcro fixing, of course for the price point it's much better than some, but is disappointing all the same. Her articulation is very simple 5 points of articulation head, arms, legs but even they are limited to the main joint only as she cannot attain a full forward split. This again is acceptable for a young/first doll but those used to the full articulation of other ranges may find her quite restrictive, especially for 'storytelling' as for example she must sit with her legs fully extended. However, my quibbles are minor and as an adult who loves dollies, my daughter is enamoured with Tiana and shares none of my disappointments! For the price also you really can't argue, if she was £10 more I would be deducting stars but at the £9-13 mark they are frankly a bargain and I would definitely purchase others from this range.

Ariel is from a new Disney Princess Royal Shimmer range by Hasbro who have recently replaced Mattel as the manufacturer for Disney Princess. My daughter like most little girls LOVES Disney and Disney Princess and my son loves all of the movies too. We have had a few dolls from this range and my children have been re-watching the dolls corresponding films with the dolls sitting on the sofa next to them and as Ariel has had a few extra films, she has had pride of place on the sofa a few times now.The Ariel doll is very nicely made and she can actually stand on her own if gently stood but obviously for a child this is probably not the easiest thing to do and so a doll stand would have been a nice extra touch.Ariel's arms and legs can move along with her head and she can be placed into a sitting position but she does not have any extra joints at the knees or elbows as with some dolls. Her dress is fully removable instead of having half of her body painted along with maybe a removable skirt and her shoes are removable too. My daughter loves undressing and re-dressing dolls which I think most children do and swapping clothes and shoes between them and so it's nice for the doll to have a full dress. Ariel's dress is very pretty with puffball sleeves in a shiny see through material, her bodice has purple starfish and seashell designs on it and the skirt part of the dress has a swirling pattern with seahorses, bubbles, starfish and seashells. The bodice has glitter accents on it and the skirt part has the same shimmer sparkle detail on it as the other royal shimmer dolls we have. I love the sea designs on her dress and also love that the skirt part of her dress starts a darker green colour at the hem and lightens to a lighter green colour by the time it gets to her waist. Her green high heel sandals are see through and also have a pearl detailed strip on each side along with glitter inside the shoe and a front bow effect on the toe. My one niggle is that these shoes are terrible for coming off and so I would recommend keeping the elastic bands that hold her shoes on if you can although this may be easier said than done if your child likes swapping shoes between dolls as much as mine does!Ariel's hair has been styled into loose waves and there is a really nice thickness to her hair too but this does start to look a little messy after she has been played with a lot and needs a little tidying. My one slight negative which I haven't deducted any stars for is that I think the packaging is a bit cheap feeling but considering the doll is so reasonably priced and beautifully made, this is really me being picky. I was a bit unsure about her facial shape at first but the more I looked at it, the more this has grown on me and I really like her face shape although I don't think Hasbro have gotten it completely right yet. I also love that her body shape isn't the usual curvaceous shape that you seem to find with most dolls and it is a much more natural shape with bigger hips and bottom which is really welcome with a young impressionable daughter and a thank you to Hasbro for doing this with this range. In summary a beautiful Ariel doll and one of my favourites from the range. I think the doll is reasonably priced and has a lovely natural body shape and her hair and dress are nicely made. My daughter loves Ariel and hopefully they may bring a version out in the future with a tail.Just to confirm that I received this doll from the Amazon Vine programme in error instead of a Merida doll I was due to receive and although I wasn't required to provide a review for her, my daughter loves her so much that I wanted to.

This Disney Snow White Princess Royal Shimmer doll is from a new range by Hasbro who have recently replaced Mattel as the manufacturer for Disney Princess. My daughter like most little girls LOVES Disney and Disney Princess and my son loves all of the movies too. I don't think there are many young children who either don't like them or haven't liked them before growing out of them and as we have managed to test a few of this new range recently we have also been re-watching our Disney favourite films with the dolls alongside (daughter insists on them sitting on the sofa with us!).The Snow White doll is very pretty and very well made however I must say straight away that I don't think the faceis quite right and doesn't resemble the character exactly and for that reason I have deducted a star from my marking. I think the eyes are perfect on the doll however I think the face on the doll is a lot thinner and longer than the character who I've always thought had a sweet cherub style face. Snow White can stand on her own, her arms and legs can move along with her head and she can be placed into a sitting position but she does not have any extra joints at the knees or elbows as with some dolls. Her dress is fully removable instead of having half of her body painted along with a removable skirt and her shoes and hairband are removable too. My daughter loves undressing and re-dressing dolls which I think most children do and swapping clothes and shoes between them and so it's nice for the doll to have a full dress. Snow White's dress is very pretty and the top bodice part has a sparkly finish with a red bow on the chest and puff ball sleeves like her character. The main skirt part of her dress has a pattern and also a shimmer glitter effect like the rest of the dolls in the range. I really like the additional detail to her sleeves and the woodland and animals design on her skirt. Her hairband has a glitter effect on it along with a bow and her yellow shoes also have a bow detail on the toe.Snow White's hair is lovely and soft and comes pre-styled to look a little like her on screen character. My one negative which I mentioned above and the reason I have deducted a star from my marking is that I don't think her face shape looks like Snow White at all and it is definitely too long and thin. I also think the packaging is a bit cheap feeling but considering the doll is so reasonably priced, this is really me being picky. I actually love that like the other dolls in the range that we have managed to see, her body shape isn't the usual curvaceous shape that you seem to find with most dolls and it is a much more natural shape which is really welcome with a young impressionable daughter and a personal thank you to Hasbro for doing this.In summary a lovely and very pretty Snow White who is reasonably priced and has a lovely natural body shape. The facial shape possibly needs 'tweaking' slightly in the future however she still looks similar to her character and the doll really is very sweet and one of my daughter's favourites.

Belle from beauty and the beast comes in a series of 11 Disney Princess "Royal shimmer" dolls. This is a great basic barbie type doll which will appeal to fans of the Disney fairy tales, the dolls don't have any fancy features but are reasonably priced enough to buy for birthday party gifts for friends, or rewards and to build up a collection of the whole series .This series has all the princesses in a sparkly ombré dresses (darker at the bottom than the top!) with a relevant pattern (roses in Belle's case) on the dress. The dress is removable and easily does up with Velcro, the doll also has sparkly removable shoes and yellow earrings which are also removable. The gloves are molded on and are not removable. The other dolls in the series are similar and the dresses and earrings can be swapped around which is lots of fun!We have already got the Disney Princess Belle "sparkle" doll made by Mattel, which is another range of basic Disney dolls, so I will compare the two because you really don't need both and you probably want to stick to one series or the other so that the dresses and accessories can be swapped.DollThe HASBRO Doll is slightly shorter and more cartoony, so bigger head, exaggerated features, smaller boobs, the Mattel one is more like barbie in size and shape. Both have lovely curly brown hair which can be brushed and styled to your child's heart's content!ClothesThe HASBRO doll has a one piece dress which is easy to take on and off (essential for little ones unless you want to be on hand to help every 5 minutes!). The Mattel doll has a glittery bodice which is attached to the doll and an elasticated skirt which pulls on and off. This is slightly easier to manage independently for little ones, but there isn't much in it if your child is 4 or older. It is a downside when swapping clothes though if you are a tad OCD like me, because if you swap the skirts but can't swap the tops, then you have lots of mismatched outfits (not that our little one minds: Merida is currently wearing Belle's skirt while Belle has Elsa's!)AccessoriesThe HASBRO doll has sparkly shoes which fit well on the feet so won't fall off while playing unless taken off on purpose. The removable earrings are very small, like a tiny yellow plastic nail. This was a bit of a concern for me as our girl is only 3, although with younger children I don't think they would realise they could be removed unless you told them, or you could just remove them and hide till they are older. The Mattel doll's pink shoes keep falling off all the time which is really annoying as we then have to hunt around the house for them! Mattel Belle doesn't have earrings but does have a crown, which HASBRO Belle doesn't. We are a bit love/hate with the crown - daughter loves it and loves to swap them around, she felt that princesses ought to have crowns and questioned where HASBRO Belle's one was. However they are attached to the heads with plastic bands, and once removed, the crowns balance in the hair and so are always falling off and getting lost.Overall I love both the HASBRO doll and the Mattel one - I don't think there is much in it to choose between them and it would amount to personal preference. As we have quite a few in the Mattel range I think we will stick to those, and if you are buying for a gift it may be worth checking whether they have a collection of one or the other already!

This Disney Princess Royal Shimmer Tiana doll is from a new range by Hasbro who have recently replaced Mattel as the manufacturer for Disney Princess. My daughter like most little girls LOVES Disney and Disney Princess and my son loves all of the movies too. I don't think there are many young children who either don't like them or haven't liked them before growing out of them and as we have managed to test a few of this new range recently we have also been re-watching our Disney favourite films with the dolls alongside (daughter insists on them sitting on the sofa with us!).Tiana is very pretty and I think one of the dolls that looks the most true to the character out of the princesses we have seen.I love that Hasbro has even included little dimples on her cheeks. Tiana can stand on her own, her arms and legs can move along with her head and she can be placed into a sitting position but she does not have any extra joints at the knees or elbows as with some dolls. Her dress is fully removable instead of having half of her body painted along with a removable skirt and her shoes and tiara are removable too. Sadly her gloves are painted on and it would have been an even nicer doll if she had removable fabric gloves instead. My daughter loves undressing and re-dressing dolls which I think most children do and swapping clothes and shoes between them and so it's nice for the doll to have a full dress. Tiana's dress is beautifully detailed and designed and I love the lily pad/leaf like glitter patterns on her dress bodice and the lily pad shape which gives it a very nice and unusual style. The skirt part of her dress also has the glitter shimmer effect that the other Princess dolls have on their skirt parts along with a scroll leaf style pattern too. Her tiara is beautifully detailed too and can be removed although we have kept it tied to her head to delay the inevitable of it becoming lost! Her green shoes are lovely and also detailed with lily pad leaves and a lily pad flower on the centre of the toe and again these are removable too.Tiana's hair is styled up like her character and feels thick and soft. My one slight negative which I haven't deducted any stars for and is the same across the range is that I think the packaging is a bit cheap feeling but considering the doll is so reasonably priced and beautifully made, this is really me being picky. I also love that her body shape isn't the usual curvaceous shape that you seem to find with most dolls and it is a much more natural shape which is really welcome with a young impressionable daughter and a thank you to Hasbro for doing this.In summary a beautiful Tiana doll and one of my favourites from the range. The doll is reasonably priced, has a lovely natural body shape, has a beautiful dress and hair and most importantly she actually resembles her on screen character. I love her dimples and my one slight niggle is that I wish she had real gloves on instead of them being painted on.One other thing I almost forgot to mention is that the dolls have a few different heights too which I think is a great idea along with the different body shapes and out of the dolls we do have in height order from tallest to shortest are; Pocahontas, Cinderella (Pocahontas & Cinderella same height), Tiana, Mulan (Tiana & Mulan same height), Ariel and Snow White (Ariel and Snow White same height).

I purchased both the Classic Elsa and Classic Anna dolls recently, as with most children, both of my children are still Frozen mad and absolutely adore Anna and Elsa. The new dolls are from Hasbro rather than Mattel and are part of a new range of Disney Princess dolls as Hasbro have recently replaced Mattel as the official manufacturer for Disney Princess. We already have quite a lot of this new range and what I really like about it is that rather than the typical hour glass big chest versions with lots of makeup on the dolls faces, that Hasbro has gone for a more natural look, different body shapes and also different heights. We also have the Hasbro Frozen Fever versions of Elsa and Anna and also the older Mattel Frozen dolls too and it has been interesting to see the differences between them. Both the Classic Elsa and Anna dolls are styled from the Frozen film and so Elsa is designed to look like she is wearing her ice blue dress which has the usual see through sleeves and top bodice detail, long train and glitter sparkles on the dress along with silver patterns on the blue fabric to give the ice effect. The shoes are adorable and are ice blue see through with ice sculpted detail. Both the dress and shoes are removable. Elsa's hair is plaited and hangs slightly to one side like her on screen character. The doll's arms can be moved, her head can be turned and she can be put into a sitting position but unlike for example Ever After High dolls, she does not have any wrist, elbow or knee movement. Having said that we also have the Mattel Frozen dolls which I bought for my children for Christmas and they are exactly the same in movement and so this is not something different that Hasbro have done to the original versions. It's hard not to compare the two versions when you have them and I would say that the Mattel versions skirt train has more detail to it with the sparkles but as the top half is painted on and only the skirt is removable, I much prefer this new Hasbro version. The only negative is the lack of any hair decoration or crown and a brush would have been nice to have been included. The packaging is extremely cheap feeling and looking but don't let that put you off as the doll is a lot nicer in person and I like the more natural body shape. The face is also a lot closer to actually looking like the Elsa character.Elsa stands at approx 29cm tall and she is suitable for ages 3 and over however my younger daughter is quite happily playing with her and the Anna doll. A very nicely made Elsa doll that is quite a good representation of the character and the removable dress and shoes is a must for any child as this seems to be one of the things they do first so they can re-dress them! A lovely doll that is bound to be a hit with any Frozen fan as both of my children love her.

This Disney Cinderella Princess Royal Shimmer doll is from a new range by Hasbro who have recently replaced Mattel as the manufacturer for Disney Princess. My daughter like most little girls LOVES Disney and Disney Princess and my son loves all of the movies too. I don't think there are many young children who either don't like them or haven't liked them before growing out of them and as we have managed to test a few of this new range recently we have also been re-watching our Disney favourite films with the dolls alongside (daughter insists on them sitting on the sofa with us!).The Cinderella doll is very pretty and very well made. I love the fact that she can actually stand on her own unaided when balanced right (this isn't too hard to balance her)and that her dress is fully removable instead of having half of her body painted with maybe just a removable skirt. Her shoes, choker and hairband are removable too. My daughter loves undressing and re-dressing dolls which I think most children do and swapping clothes and shoes between them and so it's nice for the doll to have a full dress. Her gloves however are painted on and it would have been nice for these to have been removable fabric too. Cinderella's dress is very pretty and the top bodice has a sparkle pattern on it and the main skirt part has a pattern and also a shimmer glitter effect. I really like the additional detail to the little sleeve and peplum part of the dress. Her shoes are really pretty and a real bonus is that they don't seem to slip off as much as other shoes as they have a toe part cut into them to fit snuggly on the foot rather than having the whole point of the shoe toe hollow.Cinderella's hair is lovely and soft and comes pre-styled in a style I don't particularly like but obviously this can be washed and brushed out. My one and only real negative and the reason I have deducted a star from my marking is that I don't think her face shape looks like Cinderella at all and is maybe a bit too long and I personally prefer the previous facial style from the previous manufacturer. I also think the packaging is a bit cheap feeling but considering the doll is so reasonably priced, this is really me being picky. I also love that her body shape isn't the usual curvaceous shape that you seem to find with most dolls and it is a much more natural shape which is really welcome with a young impressionable daughter and a thank you to Hasbro for doing this.In summary a lovely and very pretty Cinderella, reasonably priced, a lovely natural body shape and love that she can stand by herself in her shoes. The facial shape possibly needs 'tweaking' slightly in the future however this new shape is already growing on me and my daughter (and my young son) absolutely loves Cinders.

Frozen-mania still rules this house, and other toys and trends come and go, but our daughter’s Frozen fandom looks like it will run and run. We may not like the fact that the women are stick-thin and have huge Manga eyes, but we have to at least partly admire the story of the two independent sisters, and how much the film and its accompanying merchandise helps our daughter to express herself. This is basically a Barbie doll dressed up to be an Elsa. The proportions are fairly faithful. The hair is quite excessively tied back to begin with, and a little bit limp compared to the movie’s flowing locks, but not too bad a likeness. The costume is nicely designed and although it’s mass-produced it does have a moderate amount of quality and nice detail to it.The one thing that lets it down likeness-wise is the eyes. This doll has Barbie’s eyes, wearing Elsa’s make-up, rather than actually having Elsa’s eyes. The eye shape is close, but just a bit wrong- you can see it most on the lower eyelid, even when comparing the doll to the movie picture on the box. Everything else about the doll is done with a fairly faithful observation of the movie, apart from the eyes, which let the whole thing down just slightly. We were extremely lucky to be given both the ‘film Elsa’, in her Ice Queen blue dress, and the ‘Frozen Fever’ version of Elsa in the softer green flowery dress, at the same time. I naively thought that my daughter might be able to just settle for one of them and we could keep the other one boxed up as a spare, but that was sheer optimism on my part. Of course now in my daughter’s head there are two Elsas in her Frozen world, except one of them might be pretending to be Anna, except that it isn’t Anna, it’s Elsa, or something. I won’t pretend to understand it how she understands it. Anyway, it did give me a chance to check side-by-side to confirm that this doll is an exact match for the “Frozen Fever” doll, apart from the costume, and the fact that the “Frozen Fever” doll comes with an additional hair clip, which this one doesn’t.So as far as mass-produced Disney merchandise dolls go, this is actually fairly good. The not-quite-right eyes and the lack of accessories mean I can’t quite stretch to 5 stars though.

What the casual consumer may not realise is that the Disney licence has very recently been taken over by Hasbro after the existing agreement with Disney and Mattel expired. Hence, a brand new wave of these dolls across toy stores and supermarkets has appeared. The first distinct difference is the beautiful packaging where Hasbro have opted to include various images from the classic films that accompany the doll. Really nicely done and I would go as far to say they are presented in a far superior way to Disney Store's own 'classic' dolls. The doll itself is as high quality as you would expect from a reputable brand like Hasbro. As Mattel manufacture Barbie, you would notice if you have any of these dolls that the design of them is very Barbie like, as is the way they are painted. The Hasbro ones are slightly different. They seem shorter and the faces are painted in a more unique way. They are kinder and cuter looking than the Mattel ones yet do not reach the true likeness of the animated characters like the Disney Store classic dolls do.A good thing to point out is that these are primarily an alternative to the 'Disney Store' product. If you do not live close to a Disney Store or not into ordering online these will be the only kind of dolls you come across. Disney Store manufacture their own range of dolls which they title their 'classic dolls'. They are very different to these Hasbro dolls and largely considered superior by doll collectors and purists due to their better detailing. As Disney Store is a direct descendent of the Walt Disney Company their products are always going to have a better likeness to the real characters than a licensed product such as the Hasbro dolls. All in all, I rather think Hasbro have done a good job though and their dolls are certainly an improvement on the Mattel ones.

This is one of those products where you have to balance the views of the buyer (3 stars) with that of the end user (5 stars) - my rating is an attempt to achieve a comprise between the two.For the average small girl (or boy) presented with this, once the packaging has been cut off, she has a Disney princess doll which is designed to look slightly different and to be part of a set which is very collectable (a range of diverse princesses here from different ethnic backgrounds). She comes in a lovely pink and purple dress which is easily removable as are her shoes and tiara. Her waist turns slightly and her arms go up and down and although she is not very jointed there is enough movement when combined with an active imagination. The best thing, however, is the long and luxuriant hair which is easily styleable and will provide hours of hairdressing fun.For the adult this figure contains much which is deplorable in perverted body image in dolls. The head is way too big compared with the body and the eyes are actually larger than the mouth. Her waist is narrower than her head and the arms are amazingly thin and long with no muscle tone showing at all. There has been little attempt to make the doll realistic to women's sizes but it is not so far adrift that it can be dismissed as a cartoon. This may not matter to you - if not, then this is a well priced doll which is likely to be very popular with its recipient. If it is an issue you may want to look around for something more normal looking - although this may be difficult to find.

We tried everything we could to fight the Disney princess phase with our daughter- we tried football and boy’s stuff- but who knows, maybe that ended up making her more interested in it.At a time when Barbie dolls are under pressure to have normal body proportions, these dolls haven’t yet received that memo. Here’s a doll with ridiculously large manga eyes, which is irritating because in the Sleeping Beauty movie, Aurora’s eyes are slightly more plausible size, but they’ve been exaggerated here. I don’t mind it so much on a Frozen doll, where that’s the style shown in the film, but here the extra eye expansion seems rather regressive.Aurora’s arms are so painfully thin that you wonder how she could possibly bend her elbows if she was like that in real life.Putting the body shape aside though, I have to admit it’s a well-made doll. The costume is really rather nice and glitters pleasantly, and the shoes (surprisingly not seen in any of the product photos as I write this) are easy slip-on affairs that are not too fiddly for tiny fingers. The hair is pretty good for dolls’ hair and will withstand some aggressive combing from a child, and the tiara sits nicely. So I have mixed feelings about this doll. I think the build quality is actually rather nice, with all the accessories, but I can’t get past the very faulty body image, and the hope that unrealistic dolls like this will be going out of fashion if we can possibly help it.

The Disney Princess Royal Shimmer Tiana Doll is from the new Hasbro range. My daughter already owned many of the original Mattel Disney dolls, and Tiana does not look out of place amongst these dolls. The Tiana doll very closely mirrors the on-screen image from Disney. Attention to detail is good, and evidenced by the beautiful detail of the dress that she wears. Tiana's outfit can all be removed, aside from her gloves. For some reason Hasbro has decided to paint the gloves on the doll. This surprised me a little, as even her tiara is removable, but it doesn't seem to have bothered my 7 year old!TIanas hair is styled upwards, upon arrival, but this can be undone. Be warned though, that the hair can get horribly messy if you decide to do this! I spent a whole Disney film trying to make it presentable again, after my 20 month old got hold of it!Overall, I really like the new Disney Princess style, from Hasbro. The doll seems well-made and sturdy. There has been more than enough attention to detail, and they really do compare favourably well with the Mattel range. A lovely addition to the Disney Princess range.

Hasbro has produced a range of 11 “shimmer” princess dolls based on Disney characters and I have to admit that I am very pleased with the few that I have been lucky enough to obtain.Merida is an absolute stunner in her long aquamarine gown with beautiful highlighting on the bodice and lower skirt – The dresses pattern could easily be swapped out with Ariel as it has a “water” feel to the decorating pattern. Her face isn’t an exact reproduction of the Disney character but I will admit I prefer it to the animated face. I think she’s beautiful. These dolls have only basic movement – head, shoulders and hips but that hasn’t stopped them from joining the ever expanding family of dolls in the now verycramped Barbie house. These are a nice change from the usual Barbie thin dolls that Mattel produce – not that I dislike the Mattel dolls – but it is nice to see a doll with … er … some meat on her plastic bones. The packaging is a little basic but it does display the doll quite nicely. All in all I am extremely delighted with this addition to the doll family – she is on of my favourites.

I am reviewing the Disney Princess Royal Shimmer Belle Doll by Disney. Here are my thoughts:^^ This dark haired beauty is Belle from the fairy tale Beauty and the Beast. Her yellow and golden glittered gown is spectacular. The detail in the print is gorgeous. Belle is just a babe!^^ Like many of the Disney Royal Shimmer Princesses, she is a strong lead character in the films, something that many of your own Princesses will appreciate through re-enactment and imagination.^^ I'm not a real Princess, although my husband might say I act like one, but I do love the shimmer and the beauty this range of dolls bring to my life. I'm sure your little ones will agree with me.^^ They have that new,on trend Princess look with big eyes and shimmering gowns, that any little girl (or big girl) would love to have! The prettier the better in my opinion. After all, pretty princesses are what fairy tales are all about! These dolls are a way our own little princesses can live a magical story through play.Overall:Magical!
