Bought from Amazon, not an independent seller. The item received was an original part and was bought to upgrade a Miele C3 Complete. The SF-AA50 ActiveAirclean is a simple drop in replacement for the standard filter which comes with the vacuum. The filter contains activated charcoal granules, which you can hear inside the cartridge. The original filter holder is removed, not just the element, and this is slotted into position. A word of warning, for a worrying minute as I tried pushing it straight in and nothing seemed to line up I was thinking I had a big mistake buying an incompatible part. The way to install is to locate at an angle, dropping the back in first and then pushing the front into position. The gasket around the filter body also makes the fitment quite tight but ensures no smells get past.In use the vacuum is no different in operation the suction and motor volume is exactly the same BUT the lack of odours is what this filter is about and it does it superbly. What used to result in some quite nasty smells whilst/after vacuuming carpets after pet ownership this filter just removes them before the air is returned to the room. There is a time-strip built into the cartridge to indicate when the filter has depleted. This is thoroughly recommended as an upgrade for a standard vacuum.

I bought this direct from Amazon and it's the genuine boxed item which fits S8000,S8999,S6000-,S6999,S5000-,S5999,S4000- and S4999 (details from the box). I'm using it in an ageing (but still brilliant) 5000 series. It fits fine but is a different looking design from the previous filter. The addition of the "timestrip" is an improvement in my opinion even though I had to resort to google in order to work out how it works - in case it's useful information you press really firmly on the green arrow on the front of the cartridge when fitted. In a year, when in theory it needs changing to keep optimum performance it should show on the display that it needs changing.I'm hoping that this will make me much more likely to actually remember than the old system of writing the date on.I think that the filter once in place does actually reduce the slight smell you can get from the vacuum. We don't have any pets or smokers in this house but I do like the added reassurance of this branded item and personally I think it's worth maintaining your Miele properly so that like mine it will give you years of service. Pricey but worth it in my opinion.

Keep getting put off buying one of these Filters as Miele always want too much for them and it's just a Filter right?Well our Vac was starting to whiff a bit, plus I'd noticed it was also a bit down on suction so I finally took a look at this big filter as fitted to our current Vac and noticed it seemed to be blocked as once removed, the Vac turned into a different machine [the old charcoal one was obviously blocked and breaking down internally too thus stopping the Vac from working correctly! Also it was putting extra strain on the motor.]Now I could just use the cheap thin pad that comes with the replacement bags, along with that plastic cage to hold them, but I know they would not cut down on odour plus I doubt they would stop excess dust getting past so I took the plunge and bought one of these at less than half the price Miele wanted and I'm so glad I did.The filter came boxed and branded as advertised, it fitted with a mere click of it's retaining clip and our Vac was back to it's old self once more. Result ...... Wife is happy and my bank balance is happy too.

First time I have bought the white HA50 hepa filter which as far as I can tell is the available replacement for the previous blue AH50 hepa filter I have used until now in my S8330 model. Size wise they are both identical and the HA50 filter fitted perfectly into place. Cosmetically the HA50 has a grey Miele moulding on the left hand side and a slightly larger central removal tab. The main difference between the two appears to be the time indicator strip which is activated by pressing it at the time of installation. Air flow through the exhaust is not detectably different between both filters therefore I believe this filter is performing as expected.I usually get 2 + years out of a hepa filter before changing it even though the manual says replace after 1 year as I find no loss of suction or performance. I expect the time strip to have turned red long before I decide to replace it.

Item reviewed is the Charcoal active airclean filter and seller was Radford Vac Centre. The part supplied was genuine. I can't comment on items supplied by other sellers which may or may not be genuine and I can't comment on other types of filters.Noticed that our vacuum (C2 pet) exhaust was starting to smell....not bad for 2 years! Swapped out the filter for this one and the smell pretty much vanished. I hadn't realised that I had not activated the little strip indicator on my old one, hence why I thought it was still OK. There is a little foil bubble that you need to give a good squeeze. You will feel it pop and the blister will move along the strip a little.A filter should last a year, but that will depend upon the conditions. I managed 2 out of my last one, but it should have been changed sooner.

Miele vacuums are fabulous at what they do, and very reliable (watch ours catch fire tomorrow now...)The filter system works very well indeed, absolutely no dust or debris gets through and back in to the room. You wanted a quality vacuum, you presumably did some research before buying a premium brand, you would have therefore also presumably known about the filters, they do not need replacing often, so why skimp and buy a cheap clone and handicap the machine? You wouldn't splash out on a sports car and fit remoulds on it. Buy the genuine Miele part, it is worth it. The same goes for the bags. I replace this filter about every 18 months,I could probably stretch that a bit but I'm happy paying to have the machine performing to its full potential.

Many of the negative reviews on here are NOT product reviews, they are seller reviews. My advice is to buy from Amazon directly, like I did and received a genuine Miele filter. The charcoal filter is nice as it really does keep down the nasty smells, and it is still a HEPA filter.Fits more snugly than the older design filters and the price from Amazon is less than Miele direct. The new time strip thing is pretty pointless though. It is just a little fluid filled strip that you burst and it creeps along, apparently taking about a year. I had hoped this would somehow vary depending on your use but it is not in any way connected to the filters actual state of airflow. As ever with filters, better to change too often than not often enough.

So i was a bit confused if this would fit my Vacum cleaner. I raised a few questions and most of them was very helpfull. A few things you should know.# I can confirm that the item i did recive was orginal item.# I can also confirm that it does fit with Vacum cleaner Miele 8310 Power Plus# You should know that when you install this in your vacuam cleaner you need to remove the Black filter if you have one, if you don't the vacum clenaer might overheat and so does the instruction manual say.#Miele customer service is useless, i called to ask them she said to keep it, in the manual it says you should not have it.Excellent product and it truly removes smells. Works amazing!!

I love Miele vacuum cleaners, they last forever (our last one was 23 years old when it decided it had had enough!), so they are worth every penny! And yes these hepa filters for them are not cheap but if they suck out more of the rubbish in one's environment and only have to be replaced once a year I feel they are worth the money. I used to clean houses and whenever my customers vacuum cleaners died and if they asked me what I wanted to replace them I always replied 'a Miele please I know they are not the cheapest but they are fantastic!'

I originally bought a "clone" that didn't fit at all (crazy: it was several mm too small and couldn't possibly work) so sent it back and paid twice as much for this, which (of course) works perfectly. Sainsbury's or Asda wouldn't sell me a fake and tell me it's real, or (as here) a product manufactured in a mould that's the wrong size. But Amazon have done it repeatedly. If you're going to buy from Amazon, stick to the real thing and don't buy it from a marketplace seller unless you're sure you'd spot a fake.

We've a Miele Cats&Dogs 6000 that we bought a few years back. As far as I can tell, this filter is doing a great job and lasted quite a long time.I am a bit upset that to date I couldn't find out if this filter could be recycled some way (ideally, it really should be taken back by the manufacturer then be refurbed/upcycled) but that's just the eco-friendly in me!PS: Watch out to order the correct filter for your vacuum cleaner; it can be a bit confusing with all the models around.

For me miele is the best brand for home appliances.I recently bought a miele s5 and I couldn't be more happier, it works perfectly, the suction is powerful and build quality is great.Unfortunately it came with a normal filter for this reason I decided to orther the charcoal one, to eliminate any bad odour, it works great on my cat and dog version.I suggest to buy only Miele genuine parts filters and parts as are made exactly for your device and they're made to block any dust.

It has made a big difference to the dust levels in our house. Without this a lot of dust escapes & is just moved about the house. I used to be quite dispirited when noticing how much dust settled on any black shiny surfaces in our house with in 12 hours of vacuuming. Since fitting this the dust levels have been reduced by a huge amount.I will be buying another as soon as the integrated indicator suggest it is time to do so (supposed to last about a year)

As advertised, this product is the original Miele product, and as such, it works flawlessly with the supported vacuums. These filters do a really good job of filtering the air of small dust particles and microbes as they should, given the price.Even though it is not recommended we use this product beyond its replacement date as it just works well.I like the fact that it has a usage indicator to tell you when it is the time to replace the filter.

Those of who suffer from dust or dust mite faeces allergies need a vacuum cleaner with a very efficient filtering system. We bought a Miele Power Plus vacuum cleaner and added the Miele HEPA filter. It's a thick "biscuit" which slots into the bag/filter area. It is recommended that you replace it annually, so the apparently rather high price is not painful. My only criticism is that, once fitted, it can be fiddly to release for replacement.
