The Microsoft Intellimouse. Revered for it's shape and sensor technology back in the early PC gaming days. I'm too young to have known how good it was so when Microsoft refreshed it originally only being available in Asia and fellow, crazy mouse enthusiasts over on /r/mousereview were exporting it, I wondered what was so good about the mouse.Eventually Microsoft released it for sale in the Western hemisphere but it wasn't a purchase I planned on making until a day just browsing Amazon I realised it was on sale for near half price, I thought why not considering it's recommended for those with large hands (although I imagine it's still amazing in hand with smaller hands if you palm grip the mouse). It came,I unboxed it and when I properly gripped it, the first thought was that this is perfect for my hand. It's ergonomic shape doesn't cause any cramping or general uncomfortability. Just perfect for me.Sporting the 3389 sensor by Pixart, a near flawless sensor along with the 3360, there's no worries on the accuracy side. Capable of up to 10,000 DPI (although no need to go near that number even at higher resolutions, general range is 400-800). There is software for this mouse, "Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center" and easy google search should have you ready. In it, you can re-bind the side buttons, mouse-wheel, adjust the DPI and change the tail-light (although the options in this regard are very limited compared to other offerings). Any changes I believe are saved to memory in the internals. My only very very very small gripe from a perfect offering is that I wish it was a touch lighter, coming in at 100g~ which if you're familiar with the landscape of the gaming mice niche, is that there has been a 'revolution' of sorts in the direction of lighter mice, some coming at 80,70,60 and even in the 50 gram area. Some 'benefits' (as it's really personal perference) is less fatigue on your wrist allowing more 'consistent' performance over longer periods of playtime and less inertia allowing you to stop the mouse on a dime. Now, that isn't going to magically make you a better player but it's something were when you've tried it, it's hard to go back although shape is always the most important factor first and me coming from a Glorious Model O and G Wolves Skoll which weigh in at 65-70g is a big difference. Although this mice's weight is very balanced which makes it less noticeable so all in all, not a dealbreaker. This is a very worthy refresh of a beloved mouse and I can see why!

All old school gamers know IME 3.0 mouse, it has become a legend over the years. Have used both, and IM Pro - for over 2 weeks since the delivery day in CS:GO, Black Mesa, Call of duty IV.*Found a sensor to be very precise (like 99% right now in the market...) in FPS games, it never spun out on fastest swipes. Very good in desktop, no underclicking or accidental doubleclicking.*Shape haven't changed, I like the mouse, but still gripping it differently every time in FPS games. Rubberized sides give good grip, good during colder weathers of UK, have yet to test it on a very hot day..*Plastic coating doesn't gather too many finger tips, rubberized sides doesn't gather many either.*Love the weight, lighter than my g502/rival700, though cable is stiffer than g502, but table clip solves every problem with cable (you could also Paracord it, or someone else could do it for you, for more flexibility than default cable).*Wheel is smooth, doesn't overscroll or underscroll.*Clicks of all buttons not too loud, compared to g602, are much quieter, and as good as sensei 310 or g502*Tracking is great on cloth (Perixx 40x32 mat), aluminium (Perixx 25x21), also it's well on grainy desk surface*Lighting. compared to 2003 version of Intellimouse 3.0, doesn't get in your eyes annoyingly, nicely hidden, better than 2003 version, colour can be swapped around, also intensity raised or lowered in Mouse And Keyboard Center software, also it's easy to spot a mouse on dark mousemat with room lights off.*16000 dpi more than enough, can be adjusted in software, but 1600 is perfect for me on a 1080p monitor, and absence of DPI button is not a con, I just need 3 buttons to make a frag in a game, could be a con for graphic designers, who like to change DPI range while they are working with photos or 3D models.Haven't used Intellimouse classic 3200 dpi, and sold my 2003 IME 3.0, but from my memories and reviews of Classic, I can say if you didn't get the classic, don't bother getting it, if you miss IME 3.0 shape, get IM Pro instead, a very worthy upgrade in all categories. I am a mice collector too, out of 15 mice right now, IM Pro and Steelseries Sensei 310 are my daily drivers for all applications right now. If I bought it when IM Pro was released, I would have skipped some mice and saved quite a few pounds in this journey of buying, testing and reviewing

I have been on the search for my perfect mouse for some time now. Notice I do say "my" perfect mouse, as I'm sure you'll understand, different people will have different requirements which fit the description of 'perfect'.I am not a gamer and use my computer for 3D CAD modelling and graphic design. My previous 'perfect' mouse was the Logitech MX518. Absolutely superb, however, this model is now discontinued and I'm not willing to pay the extortionate prices that you can find it selling for on a particular online auction site. Having owned a number of mice in the past 3-4 years, I would often find something that would detract from the experience. Wired or wireless made no issue to me,factors such as DPI and, ergonomics, quality of buttons, types of buttons, etc. were top of my list. I even found myself resorting to using technicoloured fluorescent glowing mice in order to experience the above factors, despite having always thought of adding unnecessary lights as a gimmicky. This product came along and I was anticipating it's release from when it was initially announced by Microsoft. I am pleased to say that it has indeed, lived up to my expectations. This is an excellent mouse! Very rarely do companies re-release a product and get it just right. I personally believe Microsoft has achieved this with the re-release of this mouse. The upgraded DPI, enhanced bluetrack technology and subtle white light. The quality of the buttons have increased to aid it's durability. I never actually owned the original Intellimouse, I did, however, use one for a work computer for a lengthy duration of time. Comparing this mouse to its original model, I am happy. For those of you that want a non-gimmicky, solid mouse that does the job of pointing device, then look no further.

I used to have an Intellimouse way back in the day and loved it. For the past good few years I've had a Logitech G500 which I really liked but it recently became faulty. I remembered how much I used to like the Intellimouse, and while I do game I use my PC a lot for a variety of different things so wasn't too bothered about buying a "gaming mouse" so to speak. So the classic Intelli certainly has a nice, clean and sleek look to it. I really like the white led light that illuminates from the bottom. The buttons are well placed and it feels great in the hand, and just about the right weight as well. The cable is plastic which doesn't bother me but I know some people prefer a fabric cable. It works straight out of the box which is great, but you can install the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center (download) if you wish to configure all the buttons for different commands and also the DPI rate up to 3200 (default 1600).My only one little gripe is I have a cloth mouse mat which has white text in the middle of it. The sensor doesn't seem to like going over this text and the cursor on the screen stutters in its movement. If I use the mouse on a purely black part of the mousemat it works great, so I've a feeling the mouse sensor maybe isn't the best. I've had to go an order a new plain mousemat because of it (it works fine also just on the desk but I like having a mousemat). All in all though, I really like this mouse and would recommend it - just watch out for the issue I've mentioned!

I've tried a lot of mice over the years, but none could quite match the perfect comfort, durability, simplicity and overall satisfaction of the legendary IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0. Until now. This mouse is a dream come true. It's that perfectly-shaped work of art from 2003, but reborn with modern technology and thoughtful, subtle improvements throughout. Microsoft made the wise decision to keep the exact same shape as the original, whilst improving the feel and responsiveness of the buttons, putting a state-of-the-art sensor in it, and making some nice improvements to the build quality (including a braided cable). It feels fantastic in the hand (as the original did), but bear in mind that this is a 'palm grip'design, whereas a lot of modern gaming mice are 'claw grip' designs. It's really light without feeling cheap because of how solid it feels. It glides effortlessly on the cloth mouse mat I have. I'm very impressed by its accuracy and overall performance for gaming and non-gaming tasks alike. The finish is stunning and looks so much better in the flesh, and the texture of every part has just the right amount of grip. It's just a joy to use. Finally, the configuration software, Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Centre, is simple and modern. Use it to customise the buttons, sensor and tail light. Change the light to red for that extra nostalgia factor.I haven't been this excited about a mouse in years.

Not as good for left-handers: the original design was symmetrical whilst this version is obviously designed with right handed users in mind. This causes issues for me as I have to use my middle finger to hit the 2 'thumb' buttons (these are now on the left side rather than on both sides, as the original design had them). I keep hitting the buttons inadvertently as I move the mouse. The mouse just isn't as comfortable as the original design was for me - a real shame as otherwise I would award it 5 stars.Otherwise, it's a good, standard mouse for a reasonable price - the rubber sides help with grip and the shape fills the hand comfortably. The weight is good: the mouse feels solid enough but is still easy to move. The Microsoft software (in conjunction with the Windows 10 mouse controls) lets you alter the DPI setting which is useful for gaming or precision work and you can assign the five buttons to different functions, plus many other adjustments. The blue light sensor is supposed to work better on any surface. The white 'tail' light annoys some users but it is subtle. Pointless, unless you need to find the mouse in the dark, but it hasn't annoyed me! My original Intellimouse's left button started to stick all the time so I had to replace the mouse. Had given many years faultless service (including some hard gaming!) so I hope this newer version lasts as long.

Can't speak for the accuracy of the shape vs an old 3.0 (as I'm using 2.0s) - but the sensor and tracking are a damn sight more accurate, materials are better and I'm no longer hitting the buttons by accident!Highly recommended for fans of the originals.Edit: I was experiencing some issues with the scroll wheel, skipping up and down when trying to scroll in either direction. After taking the mouse apart I found the scroll wheel to be a sealed unit. Being unable to clean the thing out, I contacted Microsoft support (as it was an option in Amazon) who told me to get in touch with the device manufacturer (?).In a final desperate attempt to get my beloved mouse working again,I shot WD40 into the scroll wheel - which worked! Just a heads up for others experiencing issues.Edit 2: Now had this mouse a year and a half. The rubber coating is starting to peel off the left hand side as other reviews have mentioned. Not dropping my rating as I believe the mouse is still good value - it's just a shame. Also - I noticed the mouse becoming unresponsive a lot and (again) thought it was on it's way out. Some fluff had collected in the sensor hole. Removing that helped.

For the last few years I've used whatever mouse I found in my "man box" (I suppose somebody will complain about that like they did Mansize Kleenex!). Getting back to a good quality mouse is like getting a really comfortable pair of shoes; the mouse fits my hand perfectly although I suppose it might be a bit big for people with really small hands. It's really tactile with all of the "clicky bits" feeling really well made and responsive. The cursor doesn't move across the screen, it glides, with no jerkiness or poor movement. I know it's not usual for something as trivial as a mouse to cause excitement but this one does. As it's the interface between us humans and our computers it needs to be positive, smooth and responsive, just like the wheels on the car. Why did I get a wired mouse rather than a bluetooth one? Try it and you'll notice the difference. This is a cracker.

The design is somewhere between the Intellimouse Explorer and the Comfort Mouse 6000, so if like me you liked the feel of either of those you will certainly find that the new Classic Intellimouse has a very familiar feel to it.All the buttons, including the side ones, have a very positive, yet light, click action and the scroll wheel has "steps" rather than being smooth to rotate. The colours are a close match to those of my Microsoft Natural Keyboard 4000.I especially like the gentle fade on/off of the blue/white glow at the front edge of the mouse as I find it a useful indicator that the PC power is on, even if the screen is off.Much nicer than the similar but over bright red light on the Intellimouse Explorer. The blue LED tracking technology seems very sensitive and precise.Very pleased with the overall "feel" and so I would recommend it.

Had 3 of the original Intelli Explorer 3.0 for about 15 years and it's becoming harder to find these so I thought, I'd try the classic.I'll add I'm using a plastic surface mouse-pad. First impression was that it was smooth and weight was heavier but still comfortable. The issue I have is that it's not fit for gaming, with any fast paced FPS games, this mouse will bug out if movement is too rapid.I've installed driver, tried optimizing the DPI and sense and attempted on a cloth pad and it still happens. The only thing that worked was lowering the sensitivity, not in game but through PC and that lowered the times it happens but that's me compromising. It's a shame as it was a nice replacement but not fit for gaming, like the original 3.0 mice were intended for so not quite classic.

Have owned several Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer mice over the years finding them reliable and easy to use. When one started to have button problems recently (after more than 6 years of heavy use) I was looking around for a replacement with a 'back' and 'forward' buttons (as a web-site designer/maintainer I use them a lot) and luckily spotted this one. This mouse is excellent and is a direct replacement for the old one in both size and button position (other mice have similar buttons but in slightly different positions) so I don't have to train myself to use a different mouse.I would have given 5 stars but this mouse is expensive when compared to mice with similar/better specifications. However the build-quality is as good as the old one and I expect it to last for many years.

Purchased the Microsoft Intellimouse Pro - White Shadow for a newly build PC system having owned several of the renowned first generation 'classic Microsoft Intellimouse Pro USB laser mice.My last two remaining USB Intellimouse Pro's are now extremely well-worn so lack the precision and reliability they once achieved when newly purchased. This modern day revamp retains the classic shape and design with the original's grey on black colour scheme replaced with a gleaming white on black exterior design. This latest iteration also comprises a wealth of user customisation features notable amongst these is the ability to customise the tail light colour which allows for a refreshing change to theclassic's red tail light!

I had Microsoft mice years ago, but then was led astray by the generic devices supplied with the PCs I bought. This mouse is just as comfortable to use as the old Microsoft models, but it seems more solid. The white glow from the front is also a bit more special than the usual red glare. The only thing I didn't like - or more accurately, didn't need - was the option of the programmable buttons, which I occasionally hit by mistake (normally backing me out of the web page I was on). I downloaded the grandiosely named Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center, which allowed me to disable these. I appreciate that I'm missing out on a bit of functionality, but for me the two top buttons and wheel are all I need in/on a mouse,

What you read elsewhere is true. The sensor is not amazing; it is not ambidextrous like its predecessor. It is, however, a fine piece of hardware when all your Intellimouses are no more and you are not inclined to hack them together again. With the DPI set high it was useless for gaming, with erratic moment, but at moderate settings it works very well in gaming as well. Overall, I would still recommend it knowing its limitations, but I would prefer an ambidextrous model with a better sensor, even if like in days of yore, I had to put the mouse on paper to get it to work smoothly.... It replaced a G400 which died and went to mouse heaven, and I appreciate the weight and mass of both.

I found this after doing some research when my previous mouse died. According to Microsoft this mouse won't work at all with MacOS, however I tested this mouse on a Macbook Air running El Capitan and it worked absolutely fine for me (although you can't customise the three programable buttons as this requires a Windows only program). If you have big hands then this will be perfect as it is a full size mouse. All the buttons are responsive and have a satisfying click to them. The build quality is good and the style of the mouse fits in well with other computer equipment. Overall this is a excellent mouse that is deserving of the IntelliMouse title.
