Very good product. It took about an hour and a half to assemble - though you need no more than the supplied Allen keys and a cross head screwdriver (not supplied) it is quite a fiddly task to get it put up - hence 4 stars rather than 5. But aside from that, this is highly recommended. Melissa and Doug produce good stuff and this is no exception. Well-designed and just right for our three year (he is a bit young an hence requires supervision but will grow into it). The quality of the wood and fit is excellent and there are lots of stimulating things for the child here. No sharp edges - the tools are blunt - but the ability to make toys from sub-assemblies and with wooden nuts is great.

Lovely bench and very robust. A word of caution to people whose houses are tight for space... The design of the bench means the legs extend outwards front and back and therefore it takes up quite a lot of floor space and I've moved it all over my house trying to find a space where it causes least obstruction. My husband had a bit of a struggle putting it together and it seemed to take quite a while; I don't think the instructions were terribly clear, meaning he had to take apart some if what he'd done as he'd done it the wrong way. The project books has lovely designs to follow but far too hard for my 3 year old and I hope the bench holds his interest for a few years until he is old enough to

The original product contained a manufacturing fault but contacting M&D customer support they have sent a replacement without any problems. Great service (although we haven't got the part yet).The item itself is really well constructed - very solid - and the little book of building ideas is really great. My 3 year old loves it.Only giving them 4 stars as we have other M&D wooden building items and it appears the screws and nuts have a slightly different threading so those items are not cross compatible. Seems both bizarre and a missed opportunity.

Flatpack is straightforward to put together, you need the correct screwdriver, and took 30 mins to assemble. Quality finish, nice subtle, (not gaudy) colours on some pieces. The accompanying booklet with coloured diagrams of things to make from all the extra wooden nuts. bolts etc is for an older child than my 2 year old who delights in pushing the pegs and tools into some of the slots. making sawing noises and banging the hammer down. He has advanced since Christmas and can now tighten the vice! Really good value.

We got this bench for our 18 month old son for Christmas and it has been a fan favorite over here. Our 4 year old daughter and nieces love it, they love building the sets with the pieces you can put together, and their own creations. My son loves learning and practicing to use the tools. It's part of their pretend play, as a handy man, daddy's workshop, home Depot ?We were really impressed with the quality of everything, it's built to last long after the days of pretend play are done.Highly recommend.

This is a beautifully well made toy. Bought for 4 year old he loves it but needs a little help. One of panels was a little warped but once fitted together it straightend out. Only reason I've not given 5* is because once the child has made something he then has to dismantle in order to do something else and unfortunately there are not enough pieces to do anything else. So he's stopped using it as he's playing with the go cart he made. Can you buy extras for this? I'm struggling to find any

Got this as a xmas present for 4 and 2 year olds. Great height for both of them and is well made and sturdy. Lovely storage tray underneath for all the bits. Does not come with any ideas for building so need to rely on imagination or internet for help. Maybe because it's new the pieces are quite tight and the nuts and bolts are a bit stiff for little ones. Definitely needs adult help with building projects.

I have spent ages looking for a workbench for my sons. I love wooden toys and wanted to find something of a good size that will last the test of time. I purchased this as a Christmas present. I haven't set it up as put away until December but I did take all the pieces out to check. Everything is solid and looks really well made. I think I am going to have 2 very happy boys.

The Bench is great quality my 2 (nearly 3) year old loves it, what's even better is a couple of the parts from the projects were missing, I mailed Melissa and Doug, to get a response within hours, and due to them being US based they called me and have shipped replacements without question. We've Had a few things from M&D now and wouldn't hesitate to buy brand again

Really nice, super fun. Me and my son have had a lot of fun together with this, he really enjoys building the different projects. A few pieces were defective (one screw head broken and one block not threaded properly and does not hold screws in) but besides that it is really great and we still have tons of fun with it. We love Melissa & Doug products

I don't often review products but we are so impressed with this. It was a Christmas present for our 4 year old grandson and he has played with it continually since. Very sturdy. Easy to assemble. Like the booklet with ideas of what to make...with a little help from adult easy to do. Perhaps another leaflet with more ideas would be beneficial

I bought this for my sons second birthday and he loves it. When I was putting it together some of the holes were a little over sized however when it was all put together and everything tightened up it’s proved to be very solid. All the extras that come with it are good and ready for some imagination.

Love love love this! Got this for my boys mains christmas present and they absolutely love playing with it. All the extra pieces allowed them to build and be creative without me having to buy them seperatly. Little fiddly putting together as a lot of pieces but we'll worth the time and effort

Absolutely amazing ! Brillant packaging ! Easy to put together .. very solid and safe ... so worth the money was a bit worried about ordering from some bad reviews but so glad I decided to get it ... also tools included are great for making really well made ! One very happy little boy !

Am quite please with this as a gift for my 4 year old. It's sturdy and has enough items to give him things to "bolt together" as well as the formal models described in the instructions. My only gripe is that the way the vice is fixed doesn't look like it will last long. Time will tell.
