This is a good starting point as any for toddlers around two and up. Megabloks were a staple toy for my eldest child from two to five, skipping Duplo and straight to Lego. Early on, storage was a problem, which is solved with this kit, as it comes in an container. The container can also be built upon, allowing taller towers to be constructed. Megabloks are all about the height vs stability, a fantastic way for children to explore the concept of construction without needing great fine-motor skills.Although the set is not huge, their is a wide range of sizes, to really help problem solving at an early age. There are no fancy blocks, they are all cuboid in form and stack vertically. The one disappointment is that the lid which can be built on is recessed,so only a few of the blocks (the thin ones) fit flush, allowing blocks to built outwards. I assume the recess is designed to add stability, which it does, but it does also limit the designs available. Either way, this is still a good starting point for a toy that will repay its value over and over again.

LEGO are the bricks of choice, but anyone with a baby will know that they will be swallowed easily. Mega Bloks are a great alternative as they offer the same high quality, but are far chunkier. We have plenty of Mega Bloks already in the house, but a few more will not hurt. The 'Happy Puppy' is a super cute container that holds 25 generic Bloks, but also has a bumpy head that can be built upon. The best part of the pack if the image itself. It is very inviting to a baby and as this toy is for 1+ it has to be eye catching. The building blocks themselves are very well made and will not flake or fall apart should they be chewed. They are a little dull when compared with some of the more exciting building blocks you can get. There are no animals or people to play with, just plain Bloks. 25 units may seem like a lot, but you may want to buy some more - if you do so they are not going to fit in this box as it is full already. Mega Bloks have proven great entertainment for my 13-month year old and this pack just adds to the fun.

Mega Bloks GFH49 "Happy Puppy"Here we have a great product from the Fisher Price brand of children's toys.• Instantly appealing to little ones with the bright colours and fun "Happy Puppy" container.• The 25 Mega Bloks are in lovely bright colours and are made of sturdy, super smooth plastic that is really tactile.• The Bloks are nice and large so easy for eager hands to grip and play with and no swallowing danger.• Both the Bloks and the storage container are easy to wash and keep hygienic for your child.• This toy is suitable for children from the age of 1 year onwards. There is nothing to dislike about this set of Building Bloks and the "Happy Puppy" Container, and at an RRP of £9.99 is well priced.Being a little bit picky, I would have liked a carry handle on the "Happy Puppy" Container, to make it easier for the child to carry when putting the toy away.

We are big fans of Lego in our family and this seems to be an early primer to that where the toddlers can learn to balance and build/create with the blocks and it's an easy system to understand. There are not so many blocks in this container, but it is sufficient for my friend's 1.5 year old who crashes the towers as soon as they are built anyway and who find good entertainment in them. It's still a bit difficult to fit them properly, but it won't be long before he has mastered the system. It's great that it can all be stored in the container, but that the container also works as a starting block. We think it is a great toy. It is also very easy to wash and doesn't break easily.

This is a superb toy for little ones who are just learning to manipulate objects. The blocks are a good size and shape for small hands and the bright colours and adorable 'puppy' design of the container are very attractive to the eye. There are 25 pieces in the kit and they can be put together in the shape of a puppy, or whatever shape the child wants to make. It is a beginner kit and there are more that can be added to it. My younger grandson absolutely loves this kit and spends lots of time on the floor - mostly building towers and knocking them over and having an hilarious time as blocks land all over the floor. This is definitely a gateway toy for budding future Lego fans.

My daughters and son loved these at the ‘pre-Lego’ age, and now my grandchildren do too. This is a super box of 25 bricks comprising singles, doubles, a triple and two extra shapes. The blocks are in a selection of red, green, turquoise, royal blue and light blue. There is space inside the box to store a few more blocks and the lid of the box with the puppy’s face can be used to build on as well.Great fun and great for developing coordination, constructional skills, counting and colour recognition. Would make a super birthday or Christmas present, except that, as another reviewer pointed out, there is a 60-brick set of genuine MegaBloks on sale at the same price currently.

This pack of 25 large Mega Bloks delivers plenty of fun, in a characterful container. The bloks are really good quality, and built to withstand use and abuse by young hands. It’s a good idea to keep the bloks in a distinctive container - for selfish reasons it makes tidying up a lot easier and a little more fun.The puppy container itself is also well put together, and the top clicks on reassuringly. Overall, a very good quality product.

This is a great starter gift for young children, and it going to keep them busy for hours. The box comes with a range of shapes and in different colors. With the lid also being a build area. The container is small enough to be transported while also being large enough to fit plenty of pieces.Overall, I would highly recommend getting this for a child as the range of pieces and colors will keep them entertained for hours.

I like mega bloks - they are a good way for younger children to start to construct. I now have to worry about the plastic, but I can't see how you could make these work in anything other than plastic, so I think they are justified. This is a good set. Obviously you are paying a premium for the storage box, but that is a creative base for building on. For the same money you can get a 60 piece set without the animal base.

This is a very cute box, and helps me to encourage my children to put the bloks away- we pretend that the puppy is eating them!!It comes with 25 pieces, in various colours and shapes- reds, blues, greens. There is a little area for building the blocks on top of the box.A nice product that I would say is suitable for ages 1-3ish, perfect stepping stone before moving onto Lego.

Mega blocks are a great concept for pre school children. This happy puppy set is just as expected. Easy to use and play with made from rounded safe plastic. Here we have 25 mega blocks that when fitted together make a puppy. Good for taking through colours, shapes and more with children. Helps with coordination and construction skills.Good price too. Very impressed.

Ideal building blocks for little hands. This starter set comes in a nice container, part of which is also for building on. Enough blocks of variety for simple construction. So many other Mega kits available to add to the fun. I've found that adults like to get stuck in with the kids. So if you haven't bought yet, start here.

This is a lovely set of mega blocks for little hands to play with. The blocks are a lovely size for little ones and are nice to hold, lacking sharp edges that could dig in and hurt. Hours of fun to be had building up towers and knocking them down again! These blocks come in an attractive puppy-shaped box.

This is a fab set, especially at just under a tenner. It’s very cleverly designed with the storage box becoming part of the construction. The blocks are big, sturdy and easy to clean. This is a fraction of the price of some better known competitors and as far as I can see just as good! Recommended.

This is a nice basic set of building blocks which can help develop hand eye coordination. They are brightly coloured and a good size for small hands to grasp. I like the doggy shaped bucket and with 25 pieces more than enough to occupy a child. Easily stored away when done inside the bucket.
