These days, when reviewing headsets that work with PCs, I tend to compare them to the Plantronics GameCom 780 Open Ear Gaming Headset that I use and favour, even over my Creative 5.1 Speakers. So how do this headset compare to my Pantronics one?Pros:Good sound: Rich and deep, crisp and clear with no distortion.Nice big muffs: Even bigger than the Plantronics and, like the Plantronics, the muffs rotate 90 degrees, allowing the headphones to be laid flat.Easy accessible buttons: Volume Control & Mic On/Off are easily reached, but don't get knocked accidentally.Cables: There are two cables provided, one designed to plug into mobiles or tablets, the other designed to plug into anything that has a seperate stereo output and mic sockets. Both cables are of decent length for each purpose.Cons:No USB cable: There is no USB cable provided. For somebody like me who doesn't have access to the front stereo output and mic input on my PC case this is a big problem. Yes, you can get around it with a USB converter, but for the cost of this headset Mad Catz should have considered either adding a USB cable and the software, or ditching the stereo/mic cable and replacing it with USB one. It might have put the price of the headset up, but it would have made the headset much more versatile. Of course, the Plantronics headset only comes with a USB connector, meaning that you would need to buy a converter to plug it into a 3.5mm socket, but for what I want, USB connection is considerably better than 3.5mm.Stereo Only: The Plantronics headset offers an extremely good virtual 7.1 setup (actually better than my 5.1 Creative Speakers, especially in FPS games) and an additional Dolby Pro Logic IIx setting that really provides a beautiful and immersive sound experience that retains directional sound, allowing its use both in gaming and passive media use. The Mad Catz headset just does stereo. It does it well, but it is a frustratingly limited experience compared to what I'm used to on a headset that is nearly half the price of this one.Mic: The inbuilt mic doesn't cut it. The mic faces out into the room, doesn't pick up your own voice nearly as well as a boom mike would and picks up an horrendous amount of background noise at the same time. It is better than an earbud/mic combination, but not by much.Cost: For what it is, this is an expensive headset. Instead of trying to build a headset that straddles devices Mad Catz would have been better served providing two versions of this headset, one for stereo 3.5mm Android and phone users, and one designed for the PC market that would have the added features that I've talked about above.

Not the most comfortable and not the lightest, but absolutely stellar sound quality. It has nice crisp clear sounds, with good bass and trebles.-1 star for weight (a little on the heavy side), and for not being comfortable, also another con is the cable that is supplied which goes from 3.5mm jack to the headset is really short, like, strangely short, slightly over 3 feet, especially in the realm of gaming headsets, which usually have super long cables. Perhaps I've just been spoiled with other gaming headsets that have cables that are much longer. It's nice to have long cables so that you can you can move around the table while gaming as you don't want to keep taking off your headset if you want to grab a sip of your drink.I would recommend try it,you'll likely keep it as the sound quality is just fantastic.

I got two pairs of Headphones one for my daughter one for my son, The FREQ 3 headphones are the younger brother of the FREQ 4 best described as Ugly by my daughter, but looking past the styling they have turned out to be very capable headphones meeting all the standards expected of a pair of headphones of that price. They have a surprisingly good bass response and the mid range is tight, even with MP3/4s from the Phone, iPod or CDs from our Yammha 'Hi Fi'.The built in microphone is quite good with my son using these as an alternative to his usual gaming headphones with no issues, they are actually quite comfortable.Over all a very pleasant set of headphones which just fail on the aestheticfront.

These have really good sound quality. They enclose your ears 100% and are light enough to be comfortable to wear for long periods. Having tested the 4D and comparing these side by side with the more expensive headphones, I prefer these. It would be a full 5 stars if the microphone was a higher quality. The microphone is situated on the ear cover and so is not that close to your mouth - not obtrusive but the quality seems to suffer as a result. The silver elements are plastic rather than metal, which cut down on weight but give them a cheaper feel. However, the bottom line with headphones is the sound quality and that is where these headphones score highest.

Retro with a modern geometric look, this are surprisingly lightweight headphone considering their bulkiness. I did not use them for gaming, but did use them to listen to music on my Ipod and Chromebook. There is a connection for just listening and there is a volume control on the left side; a rolling bar. They do not cancel out noise but are comfortable and don't squeeze one's ears. There is also a connection for a microphone which I surmise is to be used using gaming. The sound is crisp and clear, though I would have like them to play just a bit louder. Rather pricey for what they do, but overall they deliver a good sound.

I saw this headset and i knew i had to try it. My first impression of the headset was very good with the quality of the packaging, took them out out of the box to see the quality of them and they were better than most of the other headsets i have bought in the past. The sound quality is excellent for what your paying for it. There not the greatest fit for people with a small head as the ear cups wont cover all of your ears but other than that this headset is flawless, had people tell me the microphone quality is very good on it and they also said it looked pleasing as well.

This is a very good quality product. The earphones fit well and were quite comfortable. The sound quality was excellent, as I watched a movie, and I soon was able to forget I was wearing the device. The problems with the device are minor, yet perhaps annoying to some. I found the connecting cables to be rather short, and this might be a problem if you had to connect to the back of a console. Another important issue is that it lacks a USB connector.

The phones are snug and comfy. The over-the-ear design leaves you room to take in some oxygen. and works well. There is a volume control on the left cup, a little hard to find. . It modifies the level sent by the phone. You'll need to set a level for your phone and tweak from there. The microphone button works as you'd expect the button to work. It all in all is a good retro piece of machinery.

The sound and audio on the headset are fantastic. Very clear and great for gaming. The mic controls, once you get used to where they are, respond well. I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable they were. It can be hard to find a nice large headset that adjusts to fit over a girl's head well. These fit great and didn't hurt on the earpiece or top of the head.

I’ve now got two of these. Use them for gaming and listening to music. Would recommend as a cheap but decent option.
