I’ll start off by saying its great to see one of my first ever proper gaming mouse is being relaunched again. I spent hours using the original MX518 and I can’t believe it’s been 14 years since then. It seems on the outside not much has changed (apart from not having that sweet paintjob like the old one) but on the inside it’s a whole new story. The new MX518 has Logitech’s flagship HERO sensor and it works great, probably one of the best in the business.(I added a side by side picture of the MX518 and G502 for comparison)It’s got a new “Nightfall” finish to it to make it look a bit higher end and the Logitech logo is gone and has been replaced by their “G” logo from their gaming division and the whole mouse is slightly lighter than its predecessor. The skates on the bottom are a lot larger than before so this should help with resistance and consistency. You still get two dpi speed buttons on the top and the third top small button resets the DPI to a default value that you can set yourself instead of the old Alt-Tab button. All buttons can be reconfigured in the software so if you like how things were back in the day then you can set this on the new MX518.The mouse works great; its super-fast, really accurate and great for long gaming sessions. Its comfortable to hold and due to it being very lightweight it doesn’t strain your wrist as bad after extended sessions. The G Hub software is ok, you don’t really need it unless you want to configure the mouse, it works fine on Windows 10 just by plugging it in.Now I do have a couple of minor issues with it, but it may just be me. I’ve been using the G502 mouse for a while now and I’ve got to admit I prefer it to this one. The palm of my hand seems to get a bit sweaty using the MX518 and I don’t get that with the G502. Also, the positioning of the Mouse 4 button is too high for me and I have to keep stretching my thumb slightly to use it, its not in a natural position for me. I have fairly large hands and out of about half a dozen different gaming mice I only seem to have the Mouse 4 issue with this one. It actually feels small to me compared with the other mice even though I’ve read its suitable for larger hands. Maybe I’ve just got used the crazier looking modern gaming mice.Overall, apart from the couple of minor issues I still really like this mouse and if you’re after an accurate, lightweight mouse with a fantastic sensor then you won’t be disappointed with this. I think its very well priced, actually cheaper than the original one if you include inflation and now it has the HERO sensor with no smoothing or acceleration it’s even better. The legend has returned!

I feel like I have stumbled on a secret known by everyone on the planet except me!Never having been a serious gamer I had always assumed that - beyond a certain quality point - one computer mouse was very much like another. I was wrong! Seems like gamers have known this for decades now. Apparently the original of this mouse was prized as a classic by that community and this one is its heir apparent.Having used this I can definitely say that they are right - I am NEVER going back to £8 mice! The feel, the responsiveness and the features that this mouse offers are just quality all the way through. You have to experience teh difference to appreciate it but here's a taste. The balance, grip surface and overall movement of the mouse make it feel like part of your hand. It's minute responsiveness is a joy to use and the mass of the thing is just right to give you feedback - rather like the very best steering system on a car will do. Many mice have programmable buttons, but often they just get in the way and mean that you trigger things without meaning to. Here the extra buttons are nicely placed to avoid that. All the features of the device can be tailored and adjusted in the software and you can find tune your settings and set them up for different tasks. For example what you want from a mouse when doing software dev or using design tools like photoshop of Visio is not the same as what you want for normal office work or for gaming.if I was me reading this I would - hitherto - have said "nah! Pretension - a mouse is a mouse is a mouse" - but honestly, you really do have to try it to understand that that is not really the case.

Wow! I remember getting the predecessor of this Logitech gaming mouse about thirteen or fourteen years ago. I can remember playing World of Warcraft etc in those early days. At the time it was - (if you excuse the pun) ‘a game changer of a mouse and was greeted with huge enthusiasm by avid gamers. So I was intrigued to discover what had changed in that time. The mouse arrived in a slightly battered box, but other than that all was fine. The shape (which in my view cannot be bettered) remains the same, but the livery is bang up to date and very high end looking. This mouse incorporates the latest HERO sensor which can provide up to 16,000 DPI resolution and there is a new SoC which gives a 1ms USB polling rate.Although it is up there with the top range gaming mice, this one is wired -another homage to its early day roots!Clearly this mouse is aimed at the experienced Gamer market and will certainly appeal to those who remember its older brother. It has eight programmable buttons which I am not certain, but think were also on the original, as well as five onboard memory profiles. In use I am so far very pleased with this and the sensitivity seems excellent. Had a few issues with the wheel whilst it bedded in, but happily resolved after a few hours use. Coming in around the £50 mark it is not cheap. But if you take your gaming seriously or need a mouse which will deliver just about every area - this one is a winner and I hope my review is helpful to you in deciding whether to buy it. Welcome back! This Logetech gaming mouse is a winner. Welcome back!

The Logitech MX was my gaming mouse choice many years ago, from the reliable MX700 of which I purchased an extra one for my folks, to the upgraded model I subsequently used through a lot of my PC gaming years which involved swapping between two rechargeable power cells and use of a high frequency wifi receiver but I can’t remember the model number. This MX518 is from the lower MX5xx series than I’m used to and as such foregoes the wireless aspects which to be fair some super-serious gamers actually prefer to do. The nice thing about the MX518 is that it stays relatively true to its roots by having a smooth profile without any gaudy or unnecessary lights or angles. It fits comfortably in the hand (right handed)and the shape, button placement and textures have all been finely honed. There are improvements in the sensor but from my perspective as an amateur gamer I value comfort and ergonomics, plus good real-world performance. It’s been nice to go back to the MX from having used a variety of other mice over the years. It’s combination of no-compromise sizing and quality materials as well as optimal layout and excellent performance make it a great companion to any amateur or serious gamer that doesn’t mind being physically connected by wire to their computer. For a price of c. £50 (at time of review) these things have always managed to remain similarly expensive over the years - which is perhaps a little disappointing, but then this is one of those products that if you buy right, you don’t need to buy twice.

This review has been written by my son:The Logitech G MX518 gaming mouse is what you would expect from Logitech, a highly functional mouse with a solid build. Both left and right clicks feel highly responsive and each of the programmable keys are well positioned. For smaller hands this mouse may feel quite large at first, luckily the size does not affect the weight as it’s one of the lightest gaming mice I’ve ever used at this price range (£51.99 at the time of review).Installation is simple, for normal functionality this mouse will work immediately once inserted into a Windows 10 system. For added functionality, the Logitech G Hub software is required. The limited instructions included advice that users visit a specific webpage which I had trouble finding during the time of this review (webpage appeared to be a general product page rather than specific to this product). Once the Logitech G Hub software is installed, each of the programmable buttons can be changed based on your gaming preference. For example: A profile for shooters could be created to swap between weapons or allow for easy access to grenades. As for cost, I believe the price is justified here as it almost mirrors the price of many triple A games on the market. I would highly recommend the Logitech G MX518 gaming mouse to any PC gamer that doesn’t want to break the bank but is interested in Logitech’s gaming range.

The original MX518 is one of the best regarded and most sought after gaming mice to ever, & it's about time for an update. It's super smooth, extremely precise, comfortable (even for fairly large hands in my opinion, despite what the critics are saying), for someone who does gaming alot fir a number of years, & has tried a lot of mice, thus by far is a winner. This is about the same game & size of any good old fashioned mouse, it has a nice grip on side panels, curvy, comfortable positioning of buttons & easy to use. It's light but sturdy & wellade. There's 8 programmable buttons, with Hero Sensor (16,000 CPI HERO sensor,HERO is a handy acronym for the extremely clumsily named High Efficiency Rating Optical sensor that Logitech has been producing and refining since 2017, and the iteration packed into the MX518 is best-in-class. Rated at 400+ (meaning it won't lose track of where the mouse is, regardless of how fast or violently you throw it around cloth or firm mouse pad). The MX518 is one of the most precise & reliable mice available, as fine as mice that cost a lot higher. It is extremely smooth, effortless & intuitive to use and never presents you with frustration like latency or losing tracking.Definitely worth the investment if you do a lot of gaming.

For me Logitec make the best mice. I have tried most brands, razer, steel series, rocat, even tried a Corsair once. The list goes on. But realistically I've always gone back to Logitec. A little note. This is a right handed mouse. So if you're left handed make sure to purchase the left hand option. So I removed my old Logitec M500 and installed the mx518. What a difference. This mouse is something else. It feels beautiful in my hand. It has the smoothest of movement across my fabric mouse mat and I'm staggered with the difference. Upgrading peripherals isn't a huge priority for me when money can be spent elsewhere. M2 drives etc. So getting this mouse to review made my day. It's superb and for the price £50 at time of review. It's great value for money as you know it will last for 5 years or more. There are 8 programmable buttons with this mouse and you can save your own button profile to the mouse. If you happen to take your mouse from your pc to your laptop that could be handy. Like most mice it has the dpi changer just under the scroll wheel. I can't really say much more. I'm so thankful for this mouse and if you're looking for something in the £50 price range. don't think, just buy. Superb.

Almost a stealth gaming mouse for me, i work away alot so i end up gaming on laptops to pass the time in hotels. I try not to have a RGB gaming mouse on me as i dont beleive it looks professional in the middle of a presentation with your mouse changing to a nice shade of pink from purple. Probably just me but this mouse helps alot by being discreet and looking professional.Performance wise it works great, not to heavy, percise movements that replicates well within a game and most importaintly the ergonomics of the mouse sits well within my hand. The additional programable functions is great i can have it set to Office for use with microsoft applications, Presentation, and then still have three slots for the mouse to remeber different mappings for the games i am currently playing.A great mouse and a very good gaming mouse.

It has been brought out of retirement, and is being used for menial administrative work. Rather than using it to take down hordes of the undead or pew pew at teenage boys of all ages on (insert insipid online shooter here), I have been using the mouse to draft emails of monumental scale and spreadsheets of unquestionable importance. My hand zooms over the mouse-mat with unparalleled velocity, the cursor closing pop-ups like millennials shut down fun. Being a millennial myself, I need this technology to live and it contains all of the speed and ergonomic comfort which is my divine right. It has a variety of buttons on the top which I haven't yet touched and the central ball is a little too bumpy for my tastes, but it looks sleeker than the haircut of a Wall Street zealot and shines like a freshly opened pot of gloss paint.

Been using this as my daily driver for a little over 3 months... Why so long? Well it's replacing a Microsoft mouse which is about ready to vote... So I've a definite feel and response time built into my muscle memory, and changing mouse is a big deal.So does this deliver?OH YES!!The feel is lovely, the buttons (including thumb triggers) is good, to have an immediate positive vibe from it's use.Resolution (configurable) is good. The basic drivers are ok from simply plugging and playing, but you can go further with the package from logitec.I'm seriously impressed with the unit, and won't hesitate to recommend this as a replacement or simply and upgrade of you mouse.

I remember my brother having a Logitech MX years and years ago and he absolutely loved it - so much so, I can remember him talking about it and at the time I didn't quite understand the fuss. This is quite old-school in that it is a wired mouse and nowadays a wireless mouse is the norm, more and more often, but actually if you don't want to suddenly find yourself without power - a wired mouse, is much more reliable. This is a very inconspicuous mouse, but it is really easy to use, move and it feels well shaped to the hand and you can feel the quality over a cheap mouse with ease. It is more expensive of course, but you can feel that this will last and last.

I love this tough retro-style gaming mouse. Other than fast scrolling, I like the tactile feedback of the scrolling wheel that allows precise stops as you scroll, you hear and feel that you are scrolling. I like the easy programmability using Logitech G Hub Software. This is a serious gaming mouse.

This is a good value gaming mouse that is comfortable, works smoothly, and has a range of extra side and front buttons typical for such a product. Not wi-fi compatible, so you have that usb and cable that may irritate those used to cable fee wi-fi, but no an issue with me. Looks good and sleek too.

Excellent gaming mouse, adjustable for 'grain' it is wonderful for games and precise work of all types and can be set back to something less precise for general use.I use mine for drafting drawings in Corell Draw and it works wonderfully well.
