This toy is great for very young children - up to the age of three, I'd say - any older and they would expect something a little bit more sophisticated and not be satisfied with the non-opening packets of flour and sugar! In this age of battery operated and computerised everything, this toy is a breath of fresh air. Sturdily made and nicely painted in the style of a 1950's toy - pastel colours and rosy cheeked children! It's ideal for developing the imagination of a younger child without any risk of hurting themselves with, say, a battery operated mixer with which they could trap their fingers or lidded accessories with which they could do the same. With a little encouragement the child can pretend to tip the flour, sugar and milk into the mixing bowl then, and this is the best bit - crack the egg into the bowl - the egg being a lovely wooden one with a yellow Velcro yolk which you 'crack', ie: pull the Velcro apart, and tip into the bowl with the rest of the imagined ingredients. Turn the 'speed' dial and it mixes the food and, hey presto, you will have a lovely cake that's as light as air - in fact that is what it will be made of, literally, air!Children under the age of two tend to be a bit violent with things, banging and crashing them about so the solid makeup of this toy and its accompanying accoutrements will be ideal for boisterous play without damaging the actual toy. Ok, so it will probably get a bit of paint scraped off here and there but I think you would be pretty safe giving this to a child younger than three, even though the age guideline on the box says 3+. The milk bottle top is a bit small though and if you have a child who is a bit headstrong or disobedient about putting things in their mouths, a half of the egg could be a bit risky too. Still, if you supervise the child when playing with it, it should be ok but if you are a stickler for health and safety, stick to getting this toy only for a child over the age of three. As I've said at the beginning of the review, children nowadays aren't satisfied with toys like this and want all-singing, all-dancing toys that they've either seen on TV or from film franchises such as Disney but a well-educated parent who wants their child to develop into a well-rounded human being with the ability to use their imagination and reason for themselves outside the world of commercialism, would probably love to give their child this kind of old-skool toy. When a parent cooks or bakes, the child can 'help' them by 'preparing' some food beside them and who knows, you may have a budding Michelin-starred chef on your hands in a few year's time!

This review is for the Le Toy Van Honeybake Wooden ‘fruit & smooth’ Blender Set.After reviewing Le Toy Van’s more modern version of their blender set, my niece loved it, therefore I was very excited to show her and review this too.The blender set is orientated around fruit and smoothies and has an old era diner vibe to it. It is beautifully designed, with colours that are very vibrant and it is made from high quality, yet sturdy wood.It is entirely hand crafted, which is what I love about Le Toy Van products as they go above and beyond to put extra effort into the details of their products. The blender is rather small, being only 40 x 27.9 x 12.4 cm,is very light-weight only weighing at 1.24kg and is the perfect size for a toddler. The blender makes q great addition to her kitchen set and despite its small size, it is still capacious enough to store all of the fruit that comes provided with it when your child is done playing. (Refer to the picture). The blender-jug sits on a stand which it can be detached from for pouring it, although it lacks a clipping mechanism to hold it in place. At the base of its stand it has a switch that can be turned with a variety of picture-settings, although this is just for show and has no functionality. (It doesn’t actually blend). The blender comes with a wooden chopping knife, a variety of fruits such as bananas, strawberries, avocado and oranges, which can be halved in two and reassembled together using the velcro in the middle of the fruits. It also comes with two wooden tumblers that contain smoothies and a drinking straw with removable toppings.Everything in this product is crafted using non-toxic ingredients and paints, therefore it is perfectly fine for your child to handle.Days have passed since she got her kitchen set and the blender is one of my nieces favourite additions thus far. It really shows how imaginative she can get with a blender.Value for money wise it is worth it as you won’t find toys of this caliber in this price range nowadays, which is why I highly recommend Le Toy Van and their products.10/10!

This review is for the Le Toy Van Honeybake Wooden Mixer Set.After reviewing various Le Toy Van’s products, my niece loved them, therefore I was very excited to show her and review this too.The mixer set is orientated around baking, allowing your child to learn and play through roleplaying. It is beautifully designed, with colours that are very vibrant and it is made from high quality, sturdy wood.It is entirely hand crafted, which is what I love about Le Toy Van products as they go above and beyond to put extra effort into the details of their products. The blender is mixer is rather small, being only 40 x 27.9 x 9.1 cm,is very light-weight only weighing at 1.4kg and is the perfect size for a toddler. The mixer makes a great addition to her kitchen set and because of its small size, it makes it easy to store it away into her little cupboard when she is finished playing with it.The mixer comes with all the ingredients needed to bake a cake which includes a little bowl, a flour box, a sugar box and an egg which can be separated and reassembled using its velcro straps. The mixer can be adjusted up and down to allow room for the bowl to be placed for mixing, however there is no handle. It also comes with a dial that allows you to spin the mixer. It does not contain a button, nor is it motorised, so please be aware.Everything in this product is crafted using non-toxic ingredients and paints, therefore it is perfectly fine for your child to handle. It also comes in a beautifully designed windowed box which makes it a great gift that doesn’t need to be wrapped.Days have passed since she got her kitchen set and the mixer is one of my nieces favourite additions thus far. It really shows how imaginative she can get.Value for money wise it is worth it as you won’t find toys of this caliber in this price range nowadays, which is why I highly recommend Le Toy Van and their products.

This is a good kitchen appliance and foods playset - consisting of toaster, 2 bread/toast slices, a jar of jam, complete with gingham fabric cover, plate, knife, and butter. The toaster has a proper sprung motion, with a lever at the end to make to toast 'go down', and a little button on one side to make it 'pop' when done. The butter is 'cutting food' with hook and loop fastening sections in the middle of two 'pieces' that can be cut off from a larger pat to spread on the toast.Lovely, solid, and well-made - from sustainable rubberwood. Most of the wood is painted in either retro pastel shades (the kitchenware) or colours appropriate to the foodstuff they're representing. The paint is thick enough to give good coverage, without completely eliminated the natural texture of the wood. Some parts, though, have been left to have a natural appearance, and are just finished with clear varnish. Particularly good use of this finish is made with the edges of the bread slices, in giving a crust appearance. The bread slices are painted areas on both sides. I might have been inclined to either paint one and leave the other all wood coloured (to represent bread and toast, or have one side on each piece left wooden coloured, so that they can be flipped to show this side when they're "done".The one thing I wasn't keen on at all with this toy was that it proved to be significantly overpackaged. Not something I've encountered from this brand before, but over half the box was a padded out empty space, with all the useable pieces occupying less than half the packaging. The packaging itself is pretty good, for the most part avoiding the use of plastic - mainly cardboard and tissue paper, with a few small bits of tape/labels to keep these shut. If you don't use the box for storage, there are little shopping list and 'menu' pieces printed on the tabs of the box to be cut out and used in play.

I have two 5 year old nieces, a 3 year old nephew and my friend's child sometimes visits who is also 3. My partner is a barista, and loves coffee, so this is the perfect toy for him to be in his element teaching kids how to make coffee!Upon arrival, the toy was very well packaged. It was easy to put together (no instructions but it doesn't really need any) with the little stick on the left requiring a bit of force to put it in properly, but it was fine. The toy is so imaginative and the design is beautiful. I would love to keep it on our kitchen side so we could play with it ourselves if we had the space!Everything in the set has a little home, and all of the wood is either screwed, glued or pressed into place so it looks sturdy. The little cups fit nicely in small hands, the coffee portafilter sits perfectly in the little notch, and the buttons are easy to press. The handle on the right moves nice and easily, and for us (despite reading other reviews) seems to be well in place, but if the kids were rougher maybe it would come off. The spoon is also very cute.My sister is really into ethical toys and prefers her kids play with wooden toys as opposed to plastic, so this is really the perfect toy. It's a little bit expensive, but I would say you certainly are getting quality for money and this would be the sort of toy you pass down generations as your kids age. It's very special. It has survived some serious play so far, so fingers crossed it will continue to, although my partner is ensuring that the coffee is made "properly"! It's good to teach kids to be gentle and coordinated, we don't want them spilling coffee everywhere! All in all I think it's great, but I'm the fun auntie and we do not have children here all the time so the toy isn't really being put to the full test.

Just when you start to think that surely a company cannot make anything more beautiful and cuter than toys you already have from them - this little breakfast set arrived which is yet another absolutely wonderfully made and designed toy from Le Toy Van. Hand on heart if I could give more than 5 stars then I would. As with the other Le Toy Van toys that we have from them the breakfast set is made primarily from replenishable wood and each piece has been beautifully painted. The set includes:-A 'Working' ToasterA Block of ButterA Jam JarTwo Pieces of ToastA KnifeA plateOther than a couple of screws and the spring mechanism in the toaster the whole toaster is made from wood and hand painted. The toaster measures 15.5cm long (not including the handle) by 12.5cm high by 6cm deep. The toaster actually has a push down mechanism like a real toaster and once your child presses the button on the front the toast pops up in the toaster which I think is an ingenious idea. The plate has a strawberry design in the middle and the knife has been painted to look like a real knife but obviously isn't sharp. The butter block separates into three parts to mimic being cut and holds together with little velcro grips when in a block. The toast has rounded edges and has been painted to look like it has some spread on it. On that point I think its worth mentioning that all the wooden parts are smooth with no rough edges or parts. The jam jar is super cute with a painted strawberry jam design on the front and even a little cloth lid over the top. The jar itself doesn't open.An absolutely beautiful little set for role play and my Children absolutely love these role play toys from Le Toy Van who are now very firmly on our favourite's list.

The café machine comes in a cardboard box and the toy is protected with paper wrappings. . It is nicely decorated in red; yellow and blue and has no sharp edges. It is sturdy and well made and looks just like the real thing. There are 5 coloured discs to represent coffee pods and they fit inside the coffee maker. The coffee maker has a brown two-piece cup which slides into the machine just like the real thing and a blue handle. Three buttons on the front of the machine push in and the milk foamer on the side of the machine can be twisted up and down to fit into the cups. The cups are red with yellow spots and a yellow handle; they aren't very deep but are a good representation of a coffee cup.A large spoon is coloured silver with yellow and blue handle, the bowl fits inside the cups but it is doesn't balance enough to stay in them. The machine has a groove on top so that the coloured coffee discs can be kept ready to put into the coffee maker. A wooden peg needs to be inserted into the side of the machine to hand one cup. The toy is designed in the UK and made in Indonesia and ethically made with replenishable wood.A lot of thought has gone into the design of the café machine. Wooden toys represent great value for money as they will last forever and children are drawn to them so the get a lot of play and they definitely don't drop to pieces like plastic toys. This is the perfect size toy for young children 3+years but I would be happy to let a 2year old play with it under supervision. The toy is educational and stimulates the imagination. All my grandchildren, boys and girls love to play with this toy and I must admit that my sister and I are well past our sell by dates and love to play with them as well.

This is a lovely little wooden stand mixer and baking ingredients set, complete with moving stand mixer and 'cracking' egg. It's probably a sign of how successful a little replica of a stand mixer this is, that I was slightly surprised to find that what looks like a circular dial on the front (in roughly the same place as the one on my Kenwood Chef) isn't actually the mechanism for turning the whisk! Instead, the actual whisk turning mechanism proved to be a wheel just above the whisk with 'speed settings' marked just above. This wheel scrolls a bit like the wheel on a computer mouse, and whilst this mechanism involves a good bit of motor skills practice for younger users, can be used to get a fair lick going in the speed at which the whisk turns. The other part that looked like a dial, is in fact a fixed cover for the top of the mixer. The mixer is articulated and the top lifts up to allow the mixing bowl to be slid in and out easily. There are no obvious stops to prevent this part from falling back down, but it stays up nicely when raised. It's nice that this comes with play pieces replicating most of those needed for making a cake, as this can be used alongside/after a real baking session. The set is beautifully finished in a combination of natural wood and vintage/shabby chic-style pastel paintwork. It feels solid, chunky, well-made and as though it should last for years. Where this might get damaged a bit, is if the halves of the 'cracking' Velcro-together egg are put in the bowl and whisked - something that's likely to chip the paintwork on bowl, whisk, and egg. We had a similar set at work (I'm an Early Years teacher), and this was the problem that affected that.

This is a delightful set, beautifully designed and decorated to the usual high quality that I have come to expect from Le Toy Van.My 5 year old and our 3 year old neighbour have played for hours with this set today (extended with many other Le Toy Van market stall and kitchen sets). The mixer was easy enough for both my 5 year old and our neighbour to operate, they loved pretending to 'crack' the egg into the mixing bowl (as they have seen me do with my Kitchen Aid on many occasions). I have them an old sieve to soft the flour and sugar into the bowl and I after a bake in the wooden oven I have been eating pretend cake all day.I really like sets that mimic really life kitchen and life products as I have always enjoyed working alongside my children in the kitchen, both with real cooking and at times when they have copied with their pretend kitchens. All pieces are painted to the same high standard. They are chunky and have a 'high end' feel to them. They really feel like they will last.Despite being wooden they are not too heavy and add were very easy for our recently turned 3 years old neighbour to handle. The colours are bright but not all garish and the whole set looks beautiful displayed ona small table alongside our wooden play kitchen in our family kitchen. This is the sort of set that will last years and can be handed down from generation to generation (in the interest of 'testing' the set I threw a few of the pieces against each other and the paint work admirably did not chip).

This set has a blender; two sundae glasses filled with different smoothies, or milk shakes, and topped with a straw; two strawberries; two bananas; an orange; a kiwi fruit; and a knife. (Don’t panic: there is nothing sharp about the knife.)The ‘knife’ is one piece, and the blender has three parts, including the lid; everything else has two parts. For the sundae glasses it is the topping and the straw that will lift off – so that you can pour in your (imaginary) drink – and the two tops are interchangeable. Each item of fruit comes in two halves, held together with Velcro – so they can be ‘cut’ (actually pulled) in half before putting in the blender.Everything is colourful, practical, well-made,and without sharp corners or rough edges, and seems to be made to last for years to come. It is what I think of as an heirloom toy – something that will still be there when today’s children bring their children to visit granny.Getting pleasure from making pretend drinks from wooden fruit in a ‘blender’ that leaves them in exactly the same condition as when they were put in takes imagination, of course. But children of the target age group usually have plenty of that. Because of small parts, the box says not for children under three. Nothing is small enough to be swallowed by accident, but if it is thought a child (even if older than three) might find a half ‘strawberry’ believable enough to swallow it, the toy should be saved until their understanding is better.

This is a cute playset. It consists of a blender which is approximately 8 1/2 inches tall when constructed, two wooden 'glasses', a blunt knife and fruit. I like the fact that this encourages play with healthy food. I also love the fact that this is made from solid. Toys made of wood just have a lovely feel about them. This is suitable for 3+. The box suggests there are cut out play cards inside. These appear to be tiny little inserts on the top of the box flaps. You are supposed to clip at yourself. Not sure if this was worth the effort. Also, there was a large section in the box that was empty. At first, I wondered if we were missing something. We weren't.was this just to make the toy look bigger? The set consists of a blender base with a jug made with clear plastic with a wooden lid. The base and the lid are quite heavy and could be used as an offensive weapon. You also get a blunt plastic knife with a wooden handle. Likewise. Fruit-wise, you get a lovely selection of wooden fruit. These come in halves. My niece loves pretending to cut things up. You have two strawberries, a kiwi, an orange, and two bananas. You also have two wooden 'glasses' with removable tops with straws in.The set is made from Indonesian 'legal wood'. This designed in England and made in Indonesia. You can't immerse these parts in water, but you can wipe them clean.A nice, ethically inspired play set. Beats Disney, IMHO.

This is a beautifully presented toy mixer. The box contains a mixer on a stand; an egg; a bag of flour and bag of sugar; Bottle of milk and mixing bowl. Okay the mixer doesn't spin, the beater moves by manually tuning a dial otherwise it is stationery . The flour and sugar are solid blocks of wood, the milk is a solid block of wood with a removeable top that has Velcro fastening. The egg splits in two and is held by yellow Velcro that looks like egg yolk. The sign of a worthwhile toy can be judged by the amount of time that toy sits in the toy box. I've been reviewing this toy for over a month and it hasn't spent a day in the toy box, my 5 year old granddaughter has played with it every day and brings it into the kitchen to 'bake'at the side of me, I simply pour a little batter into the bowl for her and she beats it. Yes it is messy and does need cleaning afterwards but it is definitely worth it for the amount of pleasure that she gets from playing with it. The Le Toy Van toys aren't cheap but they are very durable and last through the generations as all wooden toys do. The only reason that I haven't given 5 stars is because of the flour and sugar blocks, I think they would be better if they were hollow and able to be opened so that I could put a bit of flour and sugar into them to make play more realistic but otherwise my grandchildren love the toy.

Le Toy Van Honeybake Wooden Mixer SetI already have the 'Le Toy Van Honeybake Wooden Five a Day Fruits' set, I was impressed with those. So when I was offered this food mixer set I was keen to take a look at it.What a great set this is, all made from wood and tastefully painted using safe paint products. The food mixer measure 20.5 x 18.5 x 8.5 cm. Made from wood it has a moving mixing blade which can be spun around via a wooden wheel, the mixer also lifts up just like a real one, so you can lift the blade out of the mixing bowl. There is a wooden bowl provided that fits the mixer so a child can perhaps place breakfast cereal in the bowl and play mix it?There is also a wooden bottle of milk along with, wooden sugar bag and a wooden box of flour, there is even a wooden egg. Our little girl has her own play kitchen, along with a picnic table placement set. This mixer set will go nicely with those other toys. This is really made well, it should last for years if looked after, much the same as many toys used to be. I'm sure many children would love this, I know our little girl does - Highly Recommended!Contents -1 x Food mixer1 x Mixer bowl1 x Egg1 x Milk bottle1 x Box of sugar1 x Box of Flour?1 x BookletIf you have found my review at all helpful I would very much appreciate if you could click the 'Helpful' button below, thank you.

In an age where screens proliferate, it is heartening to see 'old fashioned' toys like this. Children love to watch their parents cook and then engage in play that replicates that activity. It is sometimes easy to forget that children need toys that will stir their imagination and allow them to create their own stories rather than just letting them watch TV or use a computer. Le Toy Van recognise this creative urge in children and have produced another thoughtful and beautifully presented set that girls and boys will love. It will also encourage group play.It is decorated in nice pastel colours and as we know young children can't resist putting toys in their mouths, so it is reassuring that the paint is non-toxic.It is made from rubberwood which is sustainable so you can feel you have made a purchase that is ethical too. Some people might dismiss the set as being a bit ordinary but children don't see it that way and on another level they are learning important motor skills whilst having fun 'making toast'. This would make a lovely gift and should last a long time. The spring loading toaster is a nice feature that makes it more realistic than other sets, and the way the Velcro fixes the butter to the toast is a great idea!

This is smaller than I was expecting, but it's a really good quality and sweet toy. Kids just love playing make believe and pretending they're cooking their own breakfast (it's a game you can just keep repeating) so this is a great toy to add to our collection. The innards of the toaster are on an angle so the bread sits diagonally. You push down the lever to fix the bread into place, and you press the button to "pop" the toast like you would in real life (which gets cheers each time!). The butter has two velcro slabs on the end so you can pretend cut them off and butter your toast, and there's a pot of strawberry jam (which doesn't open, by the way!). You also get a nice little plate. It's just so adorable! The only thing I don't understand is that it says it comes with cut up cards which aren't in there, but that's not a big deal. And also the box it came in has one side completely empty, which is weird! But the toy itself is perfect. Eco friendly, ethically made - teaching kids all the right things. My nieces and nephews love wooden toys and the paintwork can always cope with their rough play, so hopefully this won't be an exception to that! You get what you pay for: high quality and lifelong toys.
