On sale for just over 40 years, this is one of the world's favourite cheap fountain pens. What more is there to say? Three things:* For me, this was my first fine nib fountain pen. It took a bit of getting used to, but that may partly be related to the next point. There's a sensitivity to the pressure you exert on the paper which I don't notice with medium nibs, but maybe I just had the experience of adapting to them long ago.* The black coating on the nib will gradually wear off the writing surface of the nib point, and until that happens, it may feel scratchy. If so, persevere …* The terracotta colour of this pen (and its "Savannah" (dullish green) partner)

I decided to purchase another Safari fountain pen from Lamy this year ( I already own my first one,which I bought more than 15 years ago). My order came in a little squashed Amazon package, and the actual pen came in a minimalistic grey Lamy package ( not a presentation box).The new fountain pen is just as good as my old one ( no change apart from the colour) and it writes very well.The Lamy pen nib ( M) is possibly firmer than other brands I have ( Mont Blanc, Pelican), but I do like it and have no specific issues. The only snag is that I might have chosen a wrong colour ( Aquamarine), which looked a bit too Pop-ish and also reminded me of a cheapo marker pen someone used to use at school.

I have a very cack-handed way of holding a pen which means a lot of fountain pen nibs just don't work for me. This Lamy pen writes evenly and smoothly, so I am very pleased with it. It looks good too, and I will get a lot of use from it. I would definitely recommend this pen. I would not recommend buying it as a gift because it is sent out in a flat cardboard envelope which demolishes the box the pen is in.

A smooth writing implement that is a pleasure to use. The "extra fine" nib is a "fine" by other manufacturer's standards. I think there must be some variation because the extra fine nib on the red pen that I bought at the same time is noticeably more scratchy than (what is apparently) the same nib on this pen. I use black ink in this pen and red ink in the red pen - maybe that has something to do with it?

This is my 3rd pen. All the same because they are just so perfect for writing very neatly. I need one upstairs for diary, and one in kitchen for shopping lists. My son stole one because they’re just such a joy to write with. He’s 22. Sounds a bit mental to rave about a simple, cheap pen, but I love them. And much better than my far more expensive pen, which I never use.

I already have two Lamy Safari fountain pens in Clear and Aquamarine. Violet is another addition to my Lamy collection. I love this colour violet and it is more chic than Aquamarine. Other than a personal colour preference over another all of the Lamy Safari pens are good functional pens with affordable price tag.

I love the pen... it's a delicate shade of green... and it writes very well. The packaging is sub-standard - the box was crumpled and the outer box was also bent out of shape. What happens - seriously! - to customers' purchases on the journey from the Amazon warehouse to the destination?

Love it. I have been looking for an extra fine nib fountain pen for ages, should have looked on Amazon years ago. I've ordered some ink cartridges though I am thinking about buying a connector when they run out. Delivery was quick too. Would recommend this product.

I adore this pen. I've tried more expensive fountain pens from other brands and they just don't even compare to this one.Its the right weight and had a lovely grip. The ink flows beautifully and easily.Even my messy handwriting looks nice when I use this pen!

Nice fine line for even the smallest writing. Very smooth, not at all scratchy. A bit chunkier than I expected though. Cap width is 14mm, barrel 12mm. If you have one of those pen cases with little elasticated hoops, this is going to be quite a squeeze.

This is a vibrant colour that I had to add to my expanding collection of Lamys. Very nice to write with and does what Lamy always does well, quality ink pens. With such a vibrant colour, it is my go to pen for proof reading and making changes to text.

Bought this to replace my previous Lamy which I have lost. I was disappointed with the actual colour of the pen, different to what was shown. Although it does say it’s a medium nib, it’s more of a fine nib. Otherwise it’s a lovely pen to write.

The white EF is really beautiful and easy-writing, the problem is that there is NO converter(pump) but only a ink cartridge. I just have to buy a converter separately after I have already received the pen.

Usual Lamy quality; works and writes perfectly straight out of the box. Rough finish to the surface helps with grip. Been using daily at work without a problem.

I own a range of Lamy Safari pens and in particular like the matt ones, so when I saw this colour at a reduced price, I had to just buy it. It's fabulous.
