I've got several of these Vector fountain pens in different colours, and I really like them. I use them with an ink converter rather than cartridges and Waterman ink (it comes in a gorgeous range of colours), and the pen works beautifully. (I'm a teacher, so like to use a variety of colours when I'm marking). There isn't much flex in the nib as you might get with some more expensive pens, but the ink flows well and I can write smoothly. I find my writing looks much better when I use a fountain pen. The body of these pens is plastic but it is quite robust. The cap clips into place, and sits on the end of the pen when in use to prevent you from losing it. The grip section is quite slim and metal.I actually prefer a slimmer grip area because I've got small hands. This pen would be ideal for a younger user of a fountain pen because it is slim and light, and these qualities mean that it comfortable to use for extended writing sessions. This pen isn't the most stylish looking Parker - they do some beauties but you'd need to pay a lot more for them than this. This one though looks fine, and is a real workhorse. A cheap and cheerful classic! Am so pleased Parker continue to make this model.

I originally owned one of these black pens when I was 12 and used it until I (intentionally) broke it at school about a year or so later. When I saw it on sale here I went straight for it because even 15 years later I retained the respect for this pen's quality:- Standard length and relatively thin and light making it easy to write with.- No ink leakage or waste. Ink flows very well unless the nib is either wet, has been left without its cap overnight or the cartridge is low on ink. No blotting.- Has just the right amount of scratchiness.- No paper tears.- Pen produces lovely letters and can cater to a variety of handwriting. I write in strong cursive and the ink does not bleed or smear, which is excellent.- The only small issue I have is the cap can easily wiggle and slip off the end. It's better to leave the cap on the table than treat this like some common sort of biro and watch the lid fly across the room while writing.- Pen is not flimsy despite being made mostly from plastic. You'd have to be manhandling this thing to a peculiar degree to break it.Buy this pen, you'll love it.

I bought the stainless-steel version of this pen when I was in high school; I graduated in 2011, and I bought it well before then. The pen is now over 10 years old and still looking good, despite the scratches it has gained through its age. I have had no issues with this pen it has seen me through college and university: I have never had a problem with it, it's become my good luck charm when I have a lot of writing ahead with exams and essays. I don't know if they have changed anything with the pen, to me, it still looks the same. I am now looking into the refillable cartridges so I can cut back on refill packs and have less plastic waste. I recommend this pen; to those wanting to try using fountain pens,I got mine to try to improve my handwriting, which the pen does help make me want to write neater when I use it. It writes much smoother than the cheap ones I got before this one, though I haven't tried the more expensive fountain pens to compare it to; this was as the max of how much I was willing to spend on a pen at the time, I got my money's worth from it.

I've been using this style of pen since the 80s. I find the fine nibs a bit too scratchy but the medium nib just perfect for my handwriting. I write a lot and they are fantastic for about 6 months then the nibs gradually fail. If you do buy an expensive pen then the nib will not last any longer. So £20 a year in pens and ink for excellent writing, for me that is easily worth it. I hope that they never change the design. The blue/black ink in the cartridges has to be the worse colour ink ever produced, the black ink cartridges are good, but save yourself money and buy a filler and a bottle of ink. The washable blue ink is probably a good idea for children as it doesn't stain. Forget 'quink'there are some excellent coloured inks to buy, if you want blue then there is a vibrant peacock blue, an excellent deep crimson red and I am currently using a rich deep purple. I have had different coloured variants of these pens and using them with different inks. There is no modern substitute for a decent fountain pen, these are my favourite. Highly recommended!

Great pen and having a metallic casing means it's unlikely to shear along the screw thread (happened with a previous black plastic pen). Nib is much nicer as a fine tip rather than medium. Anyone looking to buy should first note that this pen has a distinctive style, as do other Parker models, especially with the rounded nib design. With the pen in the regular orientation (nib upwards), letters will come out with broad and thin sections (even with a fine nib), not uniform. If you like this style, then you're all set. If you want more uniform strokes as you get with gel pens, elect for a longer, flatter nib style (possibly a Lamy).I have found there is an optimal angle to writing with the pen,but in general the nib moves easily across the page with little to no friction.

I bought the stainless steel one. (The stainless steel model is definitely the one to buy, in my view. The plastic ones can suffer from a loose cap and become weak around the screw thread.)I've been using the stainless steel Vectors for a couple of years now, having been a fan of the plastic ones previously. As an everyday fountain pen, the stainless steel ones are excellent, and at the same price as the plastic one you can't really go wrong. They are presentable and durable, and have good, reliable ink flow. The nib leaves quite a thick line, but it can also be used upside-down if you need a thinner one.(I find it hard to resist chewing the plastic bit at the bottom of the pen, though!Wish they'd made that bit metal as well.)

The Box: A cheap card hanger not well suited as a gift but great is bought for oneself. contains The pen and lid and a single light blue Parker Quink cartridgeThe Pen: The plastic body is well made, and feels sturdy, but very light. The nib is well sized (the fine version I bought at the same time as this pen was also the same width and more expensive than this pen)The pen does not skip it does not scratch and it always keeps up with note scribbling, however when I slow down and want to have a neat flowing report or similar then the pen makes a ball point look supremely sick it is smooth even on cheap A4 refill pads. It is a cheaper fountain pen but is a great starter and converted me away from ballpoints, probably for life!

-good to write with-pen is fairly short in length-however plastic isnt the strongest and in each pen ive purchased a crack has formed in the same place (see attached picture) which means that the pen dissembles too easily and becomes a nuisance so i buy a replacement at that point-overall favourite pen that makes my handwriting neatest-has a scratchy, defined feel-ink isnt too expensive and can be bought and ordered from many places-for me at school i will go through and ink cartridge in approx. less than two weeksin my opinion it is a rather expensive pen to have to replace every half year or so but i feel my handwriting is best and i love how this writes so i wouldnt choose any other pen

I use two of these fountain pens everyday (blue and green ink). They are both solid and good looking and offer a great value for the money. They are not as smooth as other Parker fountain pens when you write with them, and they also leak a little bit (nothing important). However, they are made to last many years of hard writing and the price is so low that you cannot be wrong buying them.P.D: this pen used to be less than ten pounds when I wrote the review. If somebody asks you much more for it (like 18 o 20 pounds) then you better go for a Parker IM. The nib is the same, but the overall quality of the IM is much better :).

All the books that I have published on Amazon have been written with this pen. It is quite amazing, never failing me when my mind is racing faster than my hand can write, and I am trying desperately to keep up, never once has its ink-flow hesitated for even a fraction of a second. Always gliding so smoothly, never letting me down, it out-performs every single pen I have ever tried. Never mind the new-fangled gel pens the rollerballs etc, this is the one to buy if you want your handwriting to look its best and if you want to write fast. VERY fast! I cannot believe such a good pen is available so cheaply!

I bought this in the hope that it would encourage me to make notes more often, and so improve my concentration, or at least direct my thoughts. It has succeeded in this because it is pleasant (and very slightly ceremonial) to write with. Unfortunately, it does not come with a converter to fill it from bottled ink, or information on the correct converter to get. I find that the Parker standard/slide converter works well with this. Another alternative might have been to refill cartridges, which I am doing with a different make of pen, without any problems.

I have not used a Parker Vector for several years but when I bought this I was reminded how smoothly it writes. As Parker pens have a generous ink flow, I chose the fine version which gives me more options with lower grade paper. Although it is not a pen that I would use for longer writing tasks, it is excellent for shorter notes and also highly portable. If necessary you can also slip it into a pen holder loop on the side of a Filofax or similar. In its own way, the vector is a bit of inspirational design.

I love this pen so much I got a second. I use both with conveters due to the economy and how I disagree with the use of disposable plastic pens and cartridges. The fine nib is perfect for almost all paper, writes smoothly and has helped me improve my handwriting. Been using for three months now and haven’t picked up another pen since! Great pen for getting into fountain pens, maybe soon I’ll get a more expensive Parker...A definite reccomendation for anyone!

6.2.2014

I've had many Parker products over the years as well as 3-4 vector fountain pens. I have found them simple, well built, feel good in the hand and in the case of the fountain pen writing is smooth on the paper and free flowing. Maybe its a nib design or the Parker ink consistency or a combination of both, but jotting down notes or writing formally it just feels nice. Once you have tried one shelling out for a Mont Banc Uber whatsit just doesn't stack up

Parker Vectors are the perfect starter fountain pen for primary school children, although shame that it cannot be used with bottled ink and must continuously buy plastic Parker branded quick cartridges - bottles would probably be too messy for children anyway. I would recommend the Lamy Safari (with Z24 converter and any bottled ink) as second stage pens, for secondary school pupils.
