The Jotter ‘Special Edition’ London Architecture Ballpoint Pen from Parker is a classic style Parker Pen that’s ideal as a gift for someone who works in an office, or does a lot of note making, or just enjoys owning a good pen.The pen comes in a wonderfully presented cardboard gift box with the ‘London Architecture’ design on the front of the box.The pen itself is of the classic parker pen design, only on the sliver ‘gripping’ end, it has a matt against gloss design, which was inspired by the buildings and architecture of London. The ‘clicky’ button at the end of the pen, provides a very definite, satisfying and identifiable ‘Parker Pen’ clicking sound (if you know what I mean). Pressing the button, you really hear that distinctive double-click.The pen itself is very lightweight and comfortable in your hand. The ball point ink cartridge included is blue ink, providing a 0.7mm line which doesn’t clog up or fade or any other such annoyance you often get with cheaper, less well established brands.Look wise, it’s as you’d expect from a Parker Pen, very stylish and classically smart. I’ve been using it for note making and meetings at work. And I have to admit, I really do like the pen a lot.All in all, for someone who spends a reasonable amount of time note making, I’d have to say this really is an excellent pen.

The pen comes in a fairly basic cardboard presentation box, decorated with London architecture—I expected it to be a little more hardwearing.Inside, the pen itself is well constructed, decorated with what looks like a laser embossed pattern similar to 'The Gherkin', though I'm not sure if that was by design or just me associating that pattern with the London theme. The mechanical aspect, to enact or retract the nib, operates smoothly with a reassuring click in each position. When writing, there is nothing different to the ink or flow of writing than you would find in a modern ballpoint. It won't suddenly make anyone a writing genius, reeling off reams of artistic perfection. It's just a beautifully presented pen, and everything else is down to youIt's not unduly heavy—which I have found with similar pens in the past. I like a nice light pen that fits well between my fingers without giving me cramp, and this certainly ticks those boxes.I considered dropping one star for the packaging, given that the London themed gift box was a selling point for it, but the only improvement would be a more robust tin—and I hadn't been led to expect that. So, as long as nobody expects it to magically transform their handwriting, I'm giving it five stars for being as advertised and ticking the boxes for what I like in a pen.

Nostalgia plays a big part of this review. When I was in school, the Parker pen was a statement writing implement. Other options were available from the local WH Smith, including the Papermate and Schaefer. There might have been more illustrious options, but I don't recall seeing them. The Parker was the one we all wanted. It's silky accuracy was something to behold compared to the disposable end of the market that would be scratchy to write with and would probably bleed ink everywhere too. Here we are, 40 years later and the Parker in question is the Jotter, Special Edition - London Architecture. It still has the iconic arrow clip, the top is a metallic red and the bottom a silver diamond pattern with a slight etched feel to it.It writes like a treat, and has me wondering why I have have been using gel pens for so long?I have absolutely no negatives to report, and if you want a pen writes beautifully in ink, without breaking the bank, or that can provide duffers like me with a bit of nostalgia, then buy one of these ??

The red lacquer topped Parker Jotter is presented in a cardboard box which slides open. The outside of the box has a printed design of the London skyline done as a line drawing. The box is marked 'special edition' and 'London Architecture'.The pen comes fitted with a medium point ballpoint in blue ink and has no writing on it other than the name 'Parker'. The design on the barrel captures the look of the diamond windows of the London 'Gherkin' building. Not being from London, the pattern reminds me more of a fishnet stocking. There is a very slight textural feel between the 'etched' pattern and the shiny metal background. The pen, like all Parker Jotters that I've used, works very well.Being all metal, it has a nice weight and balance. The red lacquer top gives an attractive luminosity to the colour which adds more depth to the colour than a plastic or flat paint finish. The finish and pattern gives the pen a certain elegance although it doesn't displace my all stainless steel Jotter from being my favourite pen.

Despite normally favouring a fountain pen, I like to use a ballpoint for minute/note taking. This pen may have a standard ballpoint nib, but it is far from ordinary. The silver barrel is very slim; however the etched stainless steel barrel gives it a textured grainy effect which leaves you feeling as if you have a good stable grip on the pen whilst writing. It is nicely accented with a red section above the barrel, with a contrasting silver button and clip. I think this pen veers more towards a feminine look as the etchings give the silver barrel a lot of sparkle and twinkle.I like this pen a lot. The presentation is lovely and apt for an attractive looking, yet functional pen.Looking at the pictures on the box, and then seeing the design on the barrel, I completely get the architectural inspiration. Overall this is a surprisingly glitzy yet dainty looking pen.

You know the name Parker is synonymous with quality and a classic brand. This pen is lovely. It seems more delicate and thinner than other classic Parker pens, but it is just as good. It grips well and it writes smoothly. It is also refillable. The pen is all metal so the design is slick. I love the red detail – it is like a deep scarlet, and adds a touch of glamour. The pen is a Jotter Special Edition from the London Architecture range which takes its inspiration from the London skyline. The one I received gives a nod to St Paul’s Cathedral and the Victoria and Albert Museum, with two different designs on it. I thought this pen may be quite feminine but my husband likes it and asked if he could have it!So I guess it is unisex and will appeal to all. It comes boxed, and with Christmas not far, it will make a lovely present.

Normally I just grab whatever pen or pencil that is lying about to sign the latest homework or note from school so actually using a proper "grown-up" pen is a bit of a treat. The presentation box is cardboard but with a London skyline type design. I can't really see the box lasting long unless you have it kept away from the general knocks of everyday life. The pen has a deep red top and an etched design on the silver coloured bottom.Writing with the pen is much nicer than I was expecting because, after all, a pen is a pen, isn't it?The ink flows nicely and there is no scratchy feeling when writing, even on the cheapest paper. As a special gift this would be quite nice but for everyday use at the price it is a little much.

I've got the red special edition pen which is a thing of beauty. It arrived in a nice gift box and it looks great. The engraving in the bottom section is very detailed but also serves to make the pen slightly less slippy when you are holding it. Combined with the red top and the silver clip, the overall impression is that this pen cost a lot more than Amazon are selling it for. Parker biros always write well. This one comes with a medium blue refill. You can also use the Parker gel refills if you prefer to write with a gel pen. I love Parker Jotter pens - I've got several of them and I think this one is the best ever. Now I'm trying to decide of the other special edition ones I'd like to save up for next....

I've always seen Parker pens as cheap and uninspired. This, however, is very different and has definitely changed my perceptions of the brand. The pen comes in a smart case that highlights its special edition status. It looks good and adds to the experience of opening it.Once you get past the packaging you are left with the pen itself, a really nice red and silver affair. It looks really classy, the silver metal body is engraved with an architectural design that looks very smart. The clip a the top of the pen also has an engraved design whilst the red barrel is plastic. The pen is a classic parker design but much more stylish due to the design, it stands out and would make a nice gift.

If you have used on of Parker's more affordable pens at some point over the past few decades - I myself have had several - this pen will feel like an old friend. While the basic shape and arrow clip are familiar, the aesthetics of this model are new. The clip end on my model is a pleasing metallic red (it may actually be clear red over metal, I can't tell for sure). Meanwhile the business end has a diamond pattern etched into it (not dissimilar to The Gherkin's glazing – which fits in with the 'London Architecture' motif on the box) and this definitely helps with grip. In use it works as you'd expect and it's slim, but weighty feel make it a pleasure to write with. Recommended.

This pen has all the usual hallmark quality of a Parker Pen! Possibly the engraving may be a little effeminate for some men, but I found the pen looked smart and the feel in the hand is classic Parker, the writing is silky smooth and that perfect blue ink that Parker have! It's well presented in the case but the case doesn't really speak of this being a fairly expensive pen, for a few more pennies Parker could make this gift box an Apple Standard experience...But if you want to buy a loved one a great looking pen, with the assurance of it being made by a great quality company, then this pen is perfect!Should really be rated higher than 5/5!

5.10.2017

This is a really nice, fairly low-price pen from a renowned maker. I needn't comment on how it writes - it uses the standard Parker refills, so if you've every owned any Parker ball-point, you'll know exactly what to expect. This particular pen's unique selling point is its 'bling factor' it's actually much more shiny/glittery in real life than it appears in the photos. Personally I felt that it was just a tad TOO glittery for my taste, but I gave it to my wife and she was very happy with its appearance. As is usual with Parker, even the packaging gives the impression of a quality product. It would make an ideal gift.

I loved the styling of this pen but on arrival found the barrel a little thinner than my other Parker pens. That coupled with the barrel being metal rather than plastic makes it harder and more tiring to grip. Fine for signatures and brief use but not longer writing. The etched design does help the grip a little and overall the pen looks and feels of good quality. That meant it was even more disappointing when the spring retraction mechanism suddenly stopped working after about 6 months of light use. Thankfully stuck with nib out do it can still be used, all be it not carried about in a pocket safely.

7.10.2017

This pen comes in a beautiful presentation box and would make a lovely gift for any fan of pens, London or British design. The pen itself is stunning and makes a real statement with the bright red and the patterned silver. It looks like it may have been far more extensive than it is.In use, the pen is comfortable to hold and writes very smoothly with a good flow of ink and no blobs, as you would expect from Parker. Overall this is a high quality pen at a decent price, perfect for any stylish man or woman in your life who likes to write or wants to stand out in the office.

I love the Parker Jotter Pen, I remember them from my school days back in the ??'s. They are to me the best pen to hold and use, you can get the refills pretty cheap as well and even the original refills if you look around a bit. I must admit this particular Special edition with its metal bottom part is more attractive than the plastic versions on the market. The pen comes with a larger ball point of 1.0mm which I swap out for a finer point of 0.7mm which to me is a better writer. Not a pen to leave hanging about because others are like magpies when they see them.
