I've owned and used this design of pen for many years probably over 20 years of use, so feel compelled to share my experiences of this well known ballpoint pen.The clear type is marketed as the “Bic Cristal”. Made by Société Bic (known mostly as Bic) based in Clichy, France. The company was founded in 1945 by Baron Marcel Bich, but their range of products is not limited to just pens and employs over 10,000 people worldwide. It has become the iconic brand of disposable low cost ballpoint pens. The design and shape which is hexagonal, is evidently taken from the traditional pencil shape, this improves the strength, and makes holding the pen easier with a firmer grip. The barrel is made from thick polystyrene, and being clear shows the ink level of the pen.In 1991, due to concerns over children swallowing pen caps (not just Bic but all makers), the caps where made with a small hole at the top, so if accidentally swallowed, it helps prevent suffocation. The ball point itself was initially made of stainless steel, this was later changed to tungsten carbide to improve endurance and strength.Field use:Having used the pens for a long time in most cases I've found them to be very good with excellent reliability and a good smooth flow of ink. There are some disadvantages to the case material it is strong, but once cracked it can extend up the length of the pen. You can use adhesive tape to help prevent further cracking of the case. There have been a few pens that have leaked, but it's quite a low number and over years of use I've mostly found the product well designed and to be a good cost effective, yet decent quality ball point pen.A simple but good quality product that never fails to impress.

Did you ever have one of those multicoloured pens the size of a small missile? Well these pens in their unichrome glory are nothing like that at all!I chose to review these pens because I actually hand write a lot and they seemed quirky. I suppose I also seem quirky these days, free of the slavery of the mobile phone I am delightfully text free. Eschewing instant banal communication I like to write cards, letters etc and thought coloured ink might add a gentle touch of eccentricity. Writing in coloured ink has garnered several opinions historically ,the "green ink brigade " seen as weird conservative meddlers , the phrase "purple prose" condemning over florid, emotional literary outbursts.I don't much care, I just like colour. These pens come in four colours , turquoise, pink, lime green and purple in boxes of 20 of one colour ( I can't find any reference to mixed boxes, which is a shame as I would buy one of them!). This being Lent, I was delighted to get a box of purple pens (the appropriate liturgical colour), it helped in sharing out pens to my clergy colleagues to try.The pens look good. The tops are a bit hard to get off initially. The nib is 1.6mm giving a broader line than normal that is actually quite pleasant. At first, all the pens needed a glob removing from their nibs (use tissue!) and then warming ( with enough heavy breathing to induce asthma) to induce ink flow ( this was true of every pen).Once they got going I liked them, as did my colleagues. Nice colour, nice write. As I say a mixed box would be particularly attractive to me. I am a complex man and would like to worry the people with whom I correspond by changing writing colour often!

This pack of BIC Cristal Fun Ball pens arrives from Amazon in one of their brown cardboard packages. I chose the set of ten for £3 rather than the set of four for £2.99 as it seemed a no-brainer value wise. There is an option for twenty pens for just under £5 and these are available on the Amazon Subscribe and Save programme so you can get them delivered every month (or whichever frequency you choose) at a discount. The pens are in unusual and bright colours rather than the normal black, blue, red and green. In the ten pack set you receive three pink, three baby blue, two purple and two green. They are very similar to any other BIC ball point pens in shape and size but obviously the ink is different. The lids and the end of the pens are colour matched to indicate the shade. The ten pack contains the pens in a plastic wrapper and the twenty pack is boxed. How do they work? Well. To start I was a little confused as I could not get them to work. I tried the usual tricks of doing ticks and squiggles and still no luck. Believing that the chances of all ten being duds, I persevered and noticed there was a blob of something on the end of each ball point. I removed this blob and the pen works. All have this blob so I presume it is to prevent the ink from drying? There is no reference to this on the packaging. Now I am up and running – or writing – with the pens, I love them. They are fun and bright and don’t seem to smudge or anything. I love them.

Marcel Bich - from where the name Bic comes - gave us the Bic ball pen in 1950. I have been using them since I was a child in the early 1960s and have always been in love with them. At school we had to use fountain pens but these were invariably cheap and messy things compared to the Bic ball pen. Sadly we weren't allowed to use ball pens "in those days" as they were considered inferior by my school! These pens have a great purple colour ink which really does zing off the page! The line thickness is 1.6mm which is slightly thicker than the Bic 'medium' line thickness. I have attached a quick sample to show the difference. Two things to note - and the reason for 4 stars rather than 5...1)The pen caps seem to have been fitted by an over-powerful machine, so you need a good pull to get them off. Once you have pulled the tops off for the first time they go on and off as expected, no problem. Most children would struggle with that initial pull though.2) You need to pick off the protective blob covering the 'nib' before you can write with the pen - this should be done with a paper towel or something similar because, no matter how careful you are, it will mark your fingers with lovely purple ink.Overall they are another great addition to the Bic range, and worth every penny.

These come with a protector on the tip of each ballpoint, which I found tricky to break off cleanly, to the point that writing was a bit scratchy for a time thereafter on a couple. However, once over that, these flow well and deliver a thick line, 1.6 mm, which is ideal for some of the tasks I currently have in hand.Owing to the amount of ink dispensed, they are shorter lasting than other BiCs, in my experience, but were half price at the time of order which, I think, is good value.ooOoo~ BIC~ CRISTAL~ ‘FUN’~ BALLPOINT PENS~ WIDE POINT (1.6 mm)Pack of 4:1 x PURPLE1 x LIME1 x PINK1 x TURQUOISEooOooThe 4 plastic-type pens come in a packet, which is also hard to open (scissors required)! Each is around 14.5 cm in length with the cap in situ. The cap, which has a short but functional shirt clip, handily fits over the opposite end for safe keeping, if required. The branding is subdued on side of the hexagonal barrel in white.[4 images attached]

These pens are of the same quality as you'd typically expect from BiC. They are smooth to write with, simple design, lacking a rubber finger grip but comfortable enough to write with for a decent length of time. It's nice and slim line so easy to pop into a bag or pocket. The colour is pretty true to what you see on the box. When I got them I wasn't sure if it was a liquid-style ball pen or a biro-type pen. It's a biro, which I prefer. The ink dries pretty much instantly and I haven't found that it creates any wet blobs like some other annoying pens. It's also not 'scratchy' to write with, another pet hate of mine! One very minor disadvantage to this pen is that you can't see the level of the ink,so if it's about to run out it may come as a surprise...but with 19 other pens in the box you should be OK for a while! ;)

I purchases the box of 20, so have 5 of each of the lovely colours, a soft pink, purple green and turquoise all with a hint of sparkle or sheen. The pens come with a small clear plastic covering over the nib which is easily removed before you can use them but once removed the ink flows well and gives a smooth even line. 1.6mm for me is just a perfect line as it is clear without being blotchy if you have cursive hand writing. But these are biros with a roller ball, they are not felt pens.As with all BIC pens the pen lid corresponds to colour of the ink and this contrasts well with the smokey pen tube. They make a nice change from conventional biro colours and stand out - would make a brilliantstocking filler for someone who makes a statement with their writing.

Love these pens and use them in my home office during lockdown. I had to learn a lot of new information during lockdown at home as my role adapted to the situation so I found it easier to colour code my work. I got s purple and blue one a few years ago in a stationary subscription box and I love them. They are really comfortable to hold and have a nice medium nib that's really smooth to write with and lays down lots of ink but are not smudgy or smear when writing. The colours are bright and cheerful and they would be perfect too for kids going back to school or students starting the new school year. Really.enjoy using these and will buy more once I eventually use these up.

I received a box of 20 Bic purple biros. These have a slightly thicker nib than your usual biro which gives a nice smooth flow when you're writing, almost like using a gel pen. The purple is a lovely colour that's not difficult to read on white paper. The cap is a little stiff to remove but I quite like this as it means you're less likely to lose it. On first use you need to remove the plastic blob over the end of the pen, otherwise you might wonder why you're pen isn't working. No real negatives at all - but do not let your toddler get hold of one, as well as paper they also write beautifully on carpet, upholstery and wallpaper.

When I first opened the box the pens look just like normal bic ballpoints. You should be able to uncap and you're good to go. However, each pen seems to have a wax coating over the end. This means you have to rub it off on the paper. Once this is done and the ink flows you realise what a fabulous pen this is. I cannot describe how smoothly it writes. It is a joy and so different from the average ball pen. It gives a broad effect to your writing which looks great. If you had several differnt colours of these they could be used to good effect for drawing. Once you get the ink going this is a great pen. I would highly recommend.

I have always rated BiC pens highly. In my experience the ink lasts for a long time and they continue to write well until the ink has run out. I have only ever used blue, black and red BiC pens before so was really quite excited to see that they have branched out into brighter, funkier colours, of which purple is one. These pens have a thicker nib than my normal BiC pens and so have a different feels to them. They do write very well, however, and the purple is bright and vibrant.I can see these appealing to kids, teachers and anyone who likes a pen that is slightly different. If purple is your thing, then these are for you!

These pens are really smooth writing pens. I love the thickness of them and I love the colours that they have. I am a student and writing with them feels so comfortable. I previously purchased a pack of 8, but I actually finished them!!! So I wanted a much bigger box, and I am really happy with my purchase! I recommend them. The colours are fabulous and I don't find the green to be too bright either :) . But it maybe would be hard to read for some, especially if you wanted a quick glance at something or were looking at the page in sunlight! :) Plus, it's also very nice for writing up your Bible studies :))

Absolutely love these pens. Usually use the big standard black and coloured bics for every day paperwork and such, but always run out of the red and green pens for notations. So thought I'd try a box of these multi colour ones. Was not disappointed. They glide over the paper like a dream and the colours are great, nice and bright and not at all weak and pastelly. Thought they would run out pretty quick, but they've held up pretty good. Will definitely be using these again! Also love the shade of the purple one. As a bit of an old goth, bring able to write in such a beautiful purple makes me so "happy"!

Bic cristal pens are available in a variety of colours, pink, pale blue, light green, purple and in smaller packs. I've been using the multi-colour packs for a long time. If you need to write in colored ink or underline the text in books the pens are ideal because the ink doesn't soak though the paper. They're also great for crosswords/puzzles as the ink shows up clearly in those tiny squares and doesn't smudge. This box of 30 purple pens is good value for money and will last for a long time. These are basic, useful, hard working and long lasting pens. I'm happy to recommend.

Excellent packaging and protection, super per pen cost when compared to like for like in some stores.I know tgat these are a lot of pens however when you have a few children who require a full pencil set for each subject file these really are a great buy.Quality is most assuredly not compromised here with the bulk purchase and I can assure you that you will be more than happy when you realise that these are delivered to your door at an extremely low cost per pen which you just can't co.e close to in a store!Excellent choice will definitely reccomend. The Reviewer...
