The best fountain pen I ever had. I've used my Lamy Safari pen and converter combination for almost two years now. I'm a real user. I'm a doctor who works at a paper-based hospital and every day I use this pen a lot, to scribble a ton of stuff. Probably 20+ pages worth of stuff each day. Drug prescriptions, clinical notes, orders, requisitions. It writes absolutely amazingly marvellously. My handwriting, which was good to begin with, has improved significantly since I used this pen. Hand fatigue, which was a huge problem for me, is now gone. Nurses, clerks, patients and other doctors gush over my handwriting. The Lamy black ink is rich and flows smoothly. It never clogs my pen even when I leave it running dry for days.I have dropped this pen at least 100 times, sometimes on its nib. I have refilled it at least 100 times. It still works perfectly, and seems to get better with age. Highly, highly recommended. You will not regret your purchase. Trust me, I'm a real user. Don't listen to critics on YouTube who complain about this pen's nib "inconsistency" and talk about why other pens are better... These folks don't actually need to write anything and the only thing they use their pens for is to repeatedly draw bubbles and write the names of their pens with expensive ink on expensive pieces of paper. Listen to me, a real power user. The only problem with this pen is that, the converter has a ridiculously small capacity. It would run out of ink every 3 days which is a huge hassle. So, if you don't write a lot of stuff, the Lamy Safari and converter combination is perfect for you. If you write a ton of stuff, better get something with a bigger capacity, like a Twsbi Eco, which I also bought and like. The problem with that model is the twist cap, which is a chore to use when you need to use your pen 50 times a day. As for me, as long as this kit works, I'm not buying anything else, don't need to buy anything else.

There is something immensely satisfying about filling your pen from an ink bottle. I'm transported back to school days where writing started with an ink pot, blotting paper and a pen with a clip in nib. Promotion to being allowed a fountain pen with ink reservoir was a big thing - a milestone in a 7 year olds life. This Lamy Convertor does exactly what it says it does - converts your Lamy to be able to use any one of the myriad colours of bottled inks out there, with no fuss and little mess.Yes, if you're careless, you'll need a tissue or cloth to wipe the pen clear of any excess ink, but that's a moment of a second or two and by keeping the tissue in the ink box, it'll be there for next time.In return, you can empty your pen for a colour change, play around with inks to make your own tint, and have an excellent reason for a 2 minute time out when someones boring the hell out of you. Watch their face whilst you refill your pen, they're irritated but fascinated at the same time. Excellent fun.Go for it - you'll be pleased you did!

A Lamy fountain pen converter is such a simple little device but functional and of enormous practical value to any user of the delightful smooth Lamy Safari fountain pen, which is such a pleasure to write-with that I have many of them (each for different coloured inks that I often like to use).[Colour-dedicated multiplicity of writing instruments saves faffing-about, and turning the air blue (or indeed blue-black) with bad language, while cleaning out the old colour before changing inks. Always a fiddly process, for which one is ever too busy.]Without this cleverly designed device, one is stuck with the dratted inconvenience of ink cartridges (whose inventor must go down in the annals of customer disservice - or should it be anals?).Cartridges always run out at just the most inconvenient moment. And one is also starved of the great economy and functional joy of the old fashioned ink bottle. A writer is oddly happiest with ink-stained fingers !

An essential piece of kit for anyone who wishes a broader range of choice when it comes to the inks you can use with your Lamy Safari. This converter replaces the cartridges which are used as standard in the pen, with a piston-filled chamber. This means that you are now free to fill your pen with whichever ink takes your fancy. They are incredibly easy to use as well. Simply insert the converter in the pen (making sure to slot in place using the guide notches on the inside of the section), then place the nib into your bottle of ink, making sure that it is in deep enough for the ink to reach the breather hole. Next, twist the piston mechanism (the red piece on the top of converter)to draw the ink into the clear plastic chamber. With this done, reattach the barrel of the pen, clean off any excess and you're good to go.Bit disappointing that Lamy don't include this with the Safari's as standard, but what can you do?

The Z24 is an adapter for most Lamy fountain pens that convert them from requiring pre-filled cartridges which may not be readily available when you have used the last and need a new pack allowing use of bottled ink which is generally easier to find. With the adapter, you are not limited to the one brand but can choose any brand and any colour of ink that you wish. Some may better suit your tastes and personality and the pen, or there may be a need to use a certain colour for particular reasons in which there is no cartridge equivalent (red, orange, purple or green, for example). It should also be noted that some well-known ink brands or individual colours can be gritty, Lamy are not alone in this respect, not as easy-flowing and tend to clog the pen.The Z24 has recently been updated to the Z26 which looks identical in design (if not colour) with which it is interchangeable.

This is a great product. I didn't know something like this one existed and was looking for replaceable cartridges. Stumbled upon this one, read the reviews (and this is why i love using amazon so much) - have already used it with different inks and it works well.Quality is very good, no leakages fits very well into my pen and is light weight. On the value for money - I am saving a lot of money not using cartridges and while using premium ink like waterman etc.Eco friendly - since cartridges are plastic waste once empty - this converter makes so much more sense and the prime reason for me using it.Old Warmth - I am not sure why, but using this converter makes me feel like the good old days - filling the ink manually from the pot.Call me old.

This is a great product that saves you having to buy refills. The device is well made and works with ease. The action works by twisting the top which then allows the ink to be soaked up when the tip is placed in an ink pot. Not only is this incredibly simple but it also means that the ink can be picked up with no mess at all unlike other converters I've tried in the past. The cartridge fits neatly into my LAMY pen and though it might seem a bit trivial, I also liked the feature of the convertor matching the colour of my pen.Great value for money for an ink converter that works simply and effectively.

Most people are very used to having a fountain pen with ink cartridges. They work fine at a basic level but you're missing out on a lot of writing fun if you don't get an ink converter. This will allow you to use any bottled fountain pen ink, opening up a wide range of colours and styles that just aren't available in cartridge form. This Lamy converter does exactly what it says on the tin. Works perfectly and, although it might take you a bit of practice at getting the pen filled fully with no mess, it fills very well.

Don't let those fascist bully-boy ink catridge manufacturers trick you into buying any more disposable one-shots! They have some sort of secret agender as part of a clandestine, villainous super agency with far-reaching tenticles. I don't know what it is exactly, but the moment I stopped using 'their' cartridges, people in vans started showing up outside my house. Yes, it could be something to do with the neighbours recent loft-extension but isn't it just as likely, even 'probable', that they're on to me?!

I bought my piston refill and a pot of Parker Quink in July 2011. It's now November 2012 and I can't say a bad word against this astonishing addition to my fountain pen. I own a Lamy Vista fountain pen, which I bought 3 years ago, and it has worked perfectly since buying the piston refill. I am still on my first pot of ink in this time to.Don't be a fool who faces paying extortionate amounts for normal refills when you can buy one of these and make using a ink very affordable and economic experience.

this is excellent! If you buy one of these and a Parker of Lamy Quink pot, you will save an absolute fortune on ink! Cartridges average at £7-9 for 5, wheras you can get the pots for around £11-15. I use my Lamy every single day and work in the school so regularly mark etc, I have been refilling using this converter for the last 9 months and I'm only around half the pot of ink down. I'd calculate that I've saved over £100 in cartridges already. An exceptional buy for fountain pen users

Is pretty good ~ only criticism I would make is when you go to stick it into a bottle of ink, it is difficult to get it far in enough ~ and you have to prop bottle of ink on its side ~ which can be a somewhat hazardous situation in order to achieve enough purchase on object to twist the filling mechanism. Otherwise works well. Have actually solved problem by buying a pair of blunt needle syringes and refilling the plastic containers that had ink in them in first place.

If you don't want to be stuck with using the awful Lamy ink cartridges, this is an essential purchase (and one which will save you money down the line). It has a simple screw mechanism, and has two little notches either side to easily locate itself into the Safari when it is inserted. Insert and forget, and then experience the wide range of bottled inks out there! Does it's job perfectly, and cheap too. I've bought five to put in each of my pens.

No problem whatsoever with the product itself - came quickly, works perfectly. At least for my old Safari fountain pen. Certain Lamy pens which also use the T10 cartridge system strangely do NOT fit the Z24 replacement - I had this problem with my new ST pen. It was only later that I discovered the Z26 was needed for my pen and some other lines - so my advice is to check before buying either replacement to see if your pen is compatible.

This converter is an essential item for Lamy Safari, AL-Star and Nexx pens as it allows them to be filled directly from ink bottles and that means you aren't restricted to Lamy cartridge ink colours. These converters are well made, and fit very well as they have 2 tiny raised locaters that ensure they click into the pen section and stay in position. Every time I buy a new Lamy pen, I like to buy this type of converter to use with it.
