I always used to use fountain pens with proper nibs and black ink but I was recently given a good quality Lamy ballpoint, which uses the larger refills. I wanted something more compact to keep about my person and was rather interested in the Fischer space pen. However, I thought I'd stick with Lamy and try this Pico pen. First impressions are good, with a solid, quality feel and a nice click action as the pen increases in size to become a perfectly usable ballpoint pen. As others have said, it fits in the small triangular jeans pocket rather well and is always at hand. The refills will probably run our more quickly than bigger pens but the refills are cheaper than some makes and, sadly,

This is definitely one of Lamy's more gimmicky pens with a retractable barrel, but otherwise a well-designed portable pen with the usual Lamy high quality. I was primarily getting this pen as a fidget toy and for that purpose, the pen is outstanding - the retractable barrel mechanism functions smoothly and seems durable as well. However, as a writing instrument, I do find the pen to be a little shorter and lighter than expected, making it slightly uncomfortable to use. I am also not a fan of the fine point cartridge that came with the pen and will probably replace it soon.

I've been toying with the idea of buying one of these for a year or more but couldn't justify the cost until someone recently gave me a gift voucher. I ordered one immediately. As soon as I opened the box and saw the compact size of the thing, I knew I had made a good choice. It's a beautiful object, the retract-and-extend mechanism is fun to use and the writing quality is excellent. This is the perfect ballpoint for carrying around with you all day, with no fear of it tearing through your pocket thanks to its nice rounded ends. Just don't leave it lying around...

When closed the pen is neat, compact and tactile with no sharp or pointed edges which could hook onto or otherwise damage clothing. The pen is ideal for slipping into a pocket when wandering around the office or going to meetings. The barrel is chunky and reasonably comfortable to write with. The pen is a bit pricey but it feels like a quality item and is very stylish: it would make a lovely gift for a difficult to buy for friend or partner.

Bought this pen this summer for mobile everyday use. The small size makes it easy to carry around, but also easy to loose it every know and then. Thought I had lost it for good until I randomly found it outside, with over a month and a half since I had seen it last. We've had several weeks of snow, but it is still functional both in extending mechanism (although a bit slurry) and writing capability. Lovely little pen

I liked it so much I bought four. So now I can tell the difference between them. Blue, red, white, orange. Orange is best. Pricy but an excellent writing instrument without cap to lose or clip to get in the way. Press the top and you have a full-grown pen. Press again and you have a beautiful object to play with during boring meetings. Handy for shirt pocket or handbag.

The size makes the pen easy to carry around. I use it as an emergency pen. The extending mechanism is also very good and attracts a lot of fascination.Only downside is the ink cartridge itself. The ink capacity is understandable since the pen is small but it doesn't feel that great to write with. I would give a five star for a rollerball version of this pen.

Very nice looking retractable Ballpoint Pen. So nice I ordered another and now have two. I've always used Lamy Ballpoint pens since they were introduced here over 20 years ago. This one fits nicely into jacket pockets and is easy to spot so should not get lost because of the brilliant orange colour.

Its well made, very smart and easy to carry round in a jacket pocket. So nice that I bought two of them. Brilliant Blue makes a nice change from the normal silver or black ballpoint pens. I normally buy Lamy ballpoint pens and have done so for years.

Probably the smallest ball point pen you can buy, when nib comes out the pen length increases to make it easier to hold, clever design! Writes nice and smoothly. This pen does not have a clip making it ideal to slip into a pocket or handbag.

Love this pen, reduces to such a small size, and only need one hand to open it up. It is expensive but it is very practical and has a nodule on the side, to prevent it rolling away, unlike other collapsible pen. Nice to write with.

This is a great pen; compact most of the time, but expanding to a good size in the hand when you're writing with it. I bought it because I wanted a pen to be visible in the black hole that is my bag, and this is great.

These are really nice pens to carry in a jeans pocket, but if that is what you intend to do, get the chrome one because the finish comes off the black one if it is in contact with coins and such like

Nice pen, easy to carry around due to size. Good quality build & ink. Ideal for note taking but would not use it for writing long essays due to small refill & size of pen when writing.

The design of this tiny pen is one of the best I have ever seen. The mechanism works smoothly and the material is perfect fot handle.(The Lamy ballpen refills are not the best...)
