I must say, I've been wondering what to do about bathroom rubbish for some time. It seems the rest of our households have embraced recycling, but until recently, bathroom bins have been stuck in a one-bin landfill time warp. Congrats to Joseph and Joseph then, for plugging the gap with this stylish pedal bin.The product images make this bin look rather large, and I worried slightly about the size before I ordered it, but I needn't have. It's the same height as a standard bathroom bin (around 30cm high) but just a little wider, due to it having two compartments instead of one. It sits in my bathroom just fine and looks very neat. I like the stainless and white finish of it,which goes very well with the standard chrome bathroom fittings and white sanitary wear. This bin would be good for use in bedrooms too.Two lids are raised, butterfly wing fashion, by pressing your foot on the pedal. It exposes two plastic bins inside - one for waste that can be recycled and one for the rest that can't. They have a clever system for retaining polythene bin liners in place but I'm not a fan of those so use my bin unlined and feel good about saving marine life. Both bins are black, and the only improvement suggestion I might make for the product might be for different colour bins, to aid sorting. Green for recycling items perhaps? I might just add a green sticker to mine. This is a well made and attractive looking bin, and it hails from a company well known for their attention to ergonomics and design. You pay a premium for this, and should expect to. However, the list price of fifty pounds does feel a tad high, so four stars from me but still recommended.

Immediately looking at this, it doesn't look like your typical J&J item. They often use really nice plastics with soft looking colours and features. Luckily all of that is still here with this item. The item arrives fully assembled so there is nothing to put together thankfully! The stainless steel is striking but its nice to know that it's actually sealed with clear coat plastic type coating. This should help it last longer as even stainless steel can rust at the joining sections in a damp bathroom. The design is classic J&J. Split sections for rubbish and recycling, they are of a decent size and designed to hold an inner liner hole in the removable inner buckets. The pedal is well weighted without lifting the item off the ground. The lids soft close. Of course. The only thing I don't like is the white colour personally, as it will pick up dirt and dust easily. The size however is great for under or beside a sink. It's actually compact enough that it could potentially be used as a table-top bin on a large counter/sink if it didn't have the pedal. If this were replaced with soft open lids you could open with a press, that would make for a great multi-function purpose bin.

Nice little bin for the bathroom. When you press the pedal both wings/lids open up. You then decide if the item you are disposing of goes in the recycle half or the waste product half. The body of the bin is brushed stainless steel but the lids and pedal are white plastic that I fear will start looking a bit unsightly with either sun and light damage (yellowing it) or just scrubbing it clean causing scratching and degradation of the plastic. It's light and easy to empty - although in my house the waste side fills up almost daily and the half the bin this makes up has only a 3L capacity compared to a standard small bathroom pedal bin of 5L capacity. The recycle half only needs emptying now and again when someone is too lazy to take a shampoo bottle down to the kitchen recycling bin. It is currently retailing on Amazon at around £51 which is just far. far too much even if it is a nice shape and looks stylish.

I bought this bin a couple of weeks ago for the bathroom and it works perfectly. I do wish the bins were just a tiny bit bigger but given that there's not much rubbish from the bathroom it works out fine. The bins can be taken out of the container for easy emptying, and they have a little hook to put the drawstring over to keep the bags on.Not sure how that other reviewer could possibly have thought this was a kitchen bin, the size of it would be ridiculous given the proportions in the image. It's a shame the rating is pulled down because of it as this bin is everything it claims to be

Lovely compact bathroom bin.The pedal lift lid mechanism is an absolute joy with it's gentle rising and soft close. The individual bins lift out easily and the little holes keep the bin bag in place, but also out of view from the exterior. With recycling becoming more and more important these types of bins make it that little bit easier and this one thankfully looks good too.

At the end of the day, its a waste but this Joseph Joseph Bathroom Split 6L Recycling Bin does look very nice and it the right size for a bathroom. Not that I can get the kids to follow the basic principle of recyclables in one bin and non-recyclables in the others. Why is it so hard, you would have thought with a 50/50 choice they would occasionally get it right??

Nice little bathroom bin with two compartments to separate out the waste, although the compartments are so small thats not really practical. The bin looks good and is easy to clean, the design, and aesthetic fit well with a bathroom. It does however feel a little flimsy and i'm not sure how well it will hold up over time.

This is a very well designed product. The two separate bins may be small but given that they will be used for recycling and other products they are big enough for this purpose . Possibly the bin wouldy be too small for a family but certainly would be adequate for one or two people . I love it and am delighted I bought it

This is an excellent product: just the right size for a bathroom bin, and provides for recycling as well as waste. I thought i would mostly be recycling contact lens cases, but it turns out a bathroom generates a surprising amount of recyclables. Cannot fault the elegant, unprepossessing design and sturdy construction.

Very neat footprint. Fits perfectly next to and under the bathroom sink, small bins but you don't want large bins in a bathroom anyway. Love the half/half design for recycling and landfill, perfect for a bathroom and chic good looks, great quality. As expected with this brand. Recommended.

I had been wanting a bin for the bathroom for some time that allowed me to separate recycling items from general rubbish that wasn't too big and looked good. This is perfect. Looks very neat, easy to keep clean and keeps items separated.

Another fabulous product from Joseph Joseph. It's small so you wont get a lot in it but it's perfect for the bathroom. Looks really smart. There is a recycling symbol on one side. It's soft close and I am really happy with it

Got this on offer at 30% off and still felt this was expensive... however I’m aware Joseph Joseph is a more expensive brand. The bin is great. Nice and sturdy and the bins can hold a lot more than you would first think!

Love that it has two split cans inside, nice quality. But you can't lift open the top lids without pushing on the foot pedal, the lids are recessed, meaning if the pedal gets stuck you have to use a tool to pop it open.

I love this product. No more toilet roll cardboard tubes left lying around the bathroom.Expensive for a bathroom bin, but worth it as I never have to look at a toilet roll cardboard tube again!
