This is a well designed egg coddler. Different from poaching in water, using an egg coddler means you can flavour the egg as it cooks. For instance you can add garlic, chives & cheese, chorizo, chilli etc. Makes for a delicious supper. This size fits 2 medium eggs with a bit of room to spare (for your extras).Don't waste your money (as I did!) on the cheaper porcelain coddlers with the glued metal lid. They don't survive boiling - the glue comes off. This coddler can be put in the dishwasher - or just washed really easily.It is expensive but you will use many times!

Holds perfectly two eggs and quite a generous piece of butter.Very practical, easy to use, easy to wash.It's a solid piece of kit.Most of all, it's BEAUTIFUL!Preparing my first eggs in the Wagenfeld Coddler (coating the inside with butter, simmering water, eggs directly from the fridge, 6-7 mins cooking time) reminded me of my childhood perfect eggs, like grandma used to carefully (counting loudly) make especially for me...Item arrived perfectly packaged and surprisingly fast - but this goes to the seller, not the designer or maker.Enjoy.I know I do.

Absolutely wonderful. Design is clean & stylish. Very easy to use with wonderful taste and look to the egg inside. looking forward very much to experimenting with different additions to the humble egg. Previous comments regarding water getting in - possibly as a result of too much water in the pan or water boiling too vigorously.

We have some porcelain egg coddlers that have metal threaded lids and the metal rings come unglued from the porcelain. Thes new egg coddler are perfect in that they are made of glass and have a simple steel clip. My only concern is that the clip is quite flimsy and may bend/break over time, but so far so good.

Beautifully designed and manufactured. About the size of a truncated mug. This seems to be about the right size for one large egg plus extra ingredients.More robust than it looks in the illustration, should last for ever. Don't lose the clip!

These are just gorgeous - just the right size for 1 large egg each, and the added bonus is that you can see if your egg is cooked properly. I love the design, and they're a pleasure to use.

Very easy to clean, and its shorter and wider than the porcelain ones, so putting a lid on the saucepan doesnt pose a problem.Given it 4 stars as I think it is overpriced.

Expensive for what it is and I've only used it about 3 times. But it looks lovely. It's not easy removing the coddler from a pan as the lid is fiddly and loose.

These are great! My old egg poacher was a nightmare to clean. These just go straight into the dishwasher. The design is simple and elegant.

Tried this for lunch today excellent. Use recipe included with the egg coddler very good not too long a cook either.

Brilliant, so much better than the old porcelain ones. Can easily fit in two eggs and loads of other stuff.
