Hunter is my go-to brand for high quality dog accessories. We had Hunter branded collars and leads for our first dog, and it didn't feel right passing her collar on to our second dog, so I hunted for a replacement and came across this one. It is a bit more expensive than other leather collars, but we learned that the old adage of "Buy cheap, buy twice" was more than true. We went through many other brands with our first dog before we found Hunter.This is a sturdy collar. It's made of two pieces of leather, one on top of the other. This does make it quite a tall collar in therms of thickness. A quick check with a tape measure made it about half a centimetre tall.Bit of a nuisance because we like the identity tags which slide onto the collar, rather than the circular/bone shapes ones you attach with a mini keyring. Despite its thickness, it is perfectly malleable though, and it bends into shape easily.I went for the medium size brown and black version, just because it seemed a softer colour than the black. It is a dark brown colour, which hopefully you can see in the photo, and it contrasts nicely with the lighter brown Hunter name tag and the slider to keep excess collar in place. We measured our dog's neck size as 38cm. I struggled to understand the sizing on the Amazon page, but a helpful Czech page revealed that:Small = Size 45. For neck size 31-38cm.Medium = Size 50. For neck size 36-43cm. This is the size we chose for our beagle's 38cm circumference neck.Large = Size 55. For neck size 41-48cm.X Large = Size 60. For neck size 46-53cm.All sizes are 2.5cm wide.There's a metal D ring to attach your lead to, and a sturdy silver buckle, which seems to be nice and strong. It unbuckles and fastens easily, and is quite secure. Our new dog pulls a lot on his lead, but the collar has not given way or shown any sign of pulling damage on the D ring area.The leather is good quality stuff. It's been muddy, wet and snowed on, and come clean without us needing to do anything. I'm guessing just being brushed by longer grass is wiping it clean. Still early days, but it's looking nice and new, and the dog seems quite happy and comfortable with it.

Great collar, well made, seems to be lasting well on a doberman who normally can go through a collar a month so finger crossed will last a while. Saying that it Hunter so would expect it to last as my other dogs wear hunter collars.

Bought this collar several times now for our Labrador dog, good quality, our dog likes swimming and collar all leather so can stand up to this activity well

Literally the most aesthetically pleasing collar I've ever used, and she doesn't chew it which is great. I love it. Good design, good fit, can't complain.

Sturdy and stays in good condition. This has been on my leonberger for nearly a year and still going strong, and they can pull a lead!

Not sure a strip of leather should be quite so expensive, but it's attractive, and strong so I'm only knocking 1 star off for value.
