Hori has done it again! I think I like this controller more than the Nintendo pro controller. It's very well made; even the plastic used is high quality and will probably last for several years. It is much lighter than the pro controller and that's probably because it doesn't have vibration or gyroscopes built in. So if you plan to play games with motion control - it won't be possible with this controller. It also does not have Amiibo functionality. That's all the negatives I have come across at the moment. Now the positives: I believe that this controller is necessary if you play Nintendo style games where repeated button mashing is required. This is where the turbo function steps in - just assign any of the buttons to turbo and then gameplay becomes much much much more entertaining! For example: Breath of the Wild - you have to keep pressing "A" to pick up loot that is dropped by fallen foes - not anymore! Just assign the turbo function to the "A" button and voila! - keep it pressed down for the time you need it active and let go once all the loot is picked up. Same with the "Y" button for swinging your weapon - keep it pressed and "Link" will keep swinging at the fastest speed possible depending on the weapon you have equipped. I'm sure this will come in handy for quicktime events in game too.The wire is long and quite thick. I prefer it to wireless as I have definitely noticed a slight improvement in my timing while gaming with the wired controller. It's not something that can be described and you probably need to see for yourself. I've done a comparison and feel that the wired controller is slightly faster than wireless which I think gives you an edge. Also, you don't have to worry about charging it in the middle of a game.I don't mind the replaceable d-pad as I don't plan to get any fighting games. For those kind of games I would recommend getting this controller instead:

Product arrived in retail packaging, sealed and undamaged. Worked immediately.First thing to note is that this controller feels very premium. The ABXY, shoulder buttons and both sticks feel solid and well constructed, and you can tell the "budget" nature of this controller has been achieved by sacrificing features (no rumble or motion controls) over build quality, which is refreshing. The removable D-pad feature seems redundant to me, as when the D-pad is on the controller works great. When you remove it however, the buttons underneath are quite deeply recessed into the body, and are a little difficult to press comfortably (for me).Lastly, and this is purely anecdotal (as I have quite small hands),the Horipad feels quite bulky to begin with, maybe slightly bigger than an xbox controller. That said, nothing is hard to reach, and using the pad is super comfortable, just took some getting used to.I might regret giving the fifth star to this product if its performance doesn't hold up over time, but given how good it feels, I'm hoping it will.Definitely a quality feeling pad, and definitely no "madcatz-esque" buy one-a-month garbage that I remember from the PS1 era.

This controller is good if your on a budget. With the wireless pro controller being £50-60 this is a cheaper affordable option. Now it is a very good controller but there are a few things I have to say about it. There is no gyroscope for tilt controls and no vibration or NFC reader (for ammibo). You also can’t calibrate the sticks or update the controller because it is 3rd party. Now this is ok to be honest but just be aware. The other thing is when I plugged it in, it didn’t work. I tried multiple times and I thought it was broken. I messaged Nintendo but because it’s not there product they couldn’t do anything. Hori never got back in touch, but luckily when I tried it the next day, it worked fine.Customer support not good, product is. Good value for money.

The Horipad is a great alternate to the switch pro controller and is more fitting to that of the original 360 controller, the buttons all feel sturdy and the sticks make controlling game with more advanced movement such as BOTW a breeze compared to the Joycons.Overall the controller feels better than you would expect for its price range and I can’t stress enough how much it has improved my switch experience, I do however give it a star less because it has in my opinion an extremely poorly placed screenshot button, every time I go to click the minus button I hit the screenshot button instead do it of habit with the old Xbox controller,I am sure I will get used to it but I think they could have placed the buttons the other way around.

Ok let me start with the basics, this is NOT as good as the pro pad by a notable margin...it has:-no vibration at all-no amiibo support-no tilt control-requires Dock mode and offers no mobile support at allNow with that said this is an amazing little product and for the price difference compared to its big brother the pro pad and it can feel both a little light and the lack of advanced features is noticeable BUT it is incredibly responsive, ergonomic and feels wonderful in the hand and is a fantastic alternative to the frankly insane price of the pro pad.Perhaps not the perfect "player 1" pad but as a cheap home pad for multiplayer fun in games like mario kart or minecraft its a steal and wellworth the price.

When I first got this and plugged it in it would not register on my Switch. I already had the update to allow 3rd party controllers but for some reason it would just not connect. Just before I gave up and was about to send it back.. something seemed to change and now it works perfectly and hasn't had any more issues. The controller is decent size, comfortable and fine to play on. It doesn't have some of the features of the pro controller and is clearly a budget option, but if you need to add proper controllers for multiplayer games like mario kart then you can't go wrong with these - worth having at least 1 or 2 in any Switch household.

Amazing product considering the price, I mean sure there's no HD Rumble or motion controls but this is essentially a wired pro controller to use when you're relaxing at home and have your switch in the dock it's a great alternative to those that don't want to or have the money to fork out for the pro controller. Has a nice lengthy approx 10 foot cable and the device itself feels very robust, quality and well built despite it having that cheapy plastic smell to it. Overall I would highly recommend to those of you looking for a cheaper pro controller alternative that is if the lack of motion controls and HD rumble won't affect you.

I got this mainly for Smash Ultimate and prefer wired controllers, and it works perfectly fine with all the other games I've tried and even seems to work on PC.The detachable D-pad can either be in the style of an xbox 360 dpad, or you can remove it in favour of 4 face-buttons. I prefer the buttons as it's a bit more definite than the d-pad plate, but it still works well. You can plug it into the computer and it seems to work, but the only thing that doesn't seem to always work is the d-pad, and I'm not sure if that's because of the controller's input method not being recognised by all games.

Like most, I had drift issues, and I already had the hori split pad Pro (which are great). I did try 8bitdo and there is quite a lot of input lag. So much that it was a win or lose situation in Animal Crossing and Monster Hunter. This controller is excellent for the price and the d-pad isn't much of an issue as others say it is. Can be a bit annoying in the heat of the moment. The controller does drift sometimes, but I just ha e to unplug it and plug it back in. It's not actually drifting, just being a bit stupid. Other than that it's great ??

This is a cracking pad. Don't want to cough up a ridiculous amount for the wireless pro pad? Then this is for you. I was starting to get fed up playing Zelda with the joy cons set up and so wanted a proper controller but wasn't prepared to pay £50 for the pro. This is a great alternative at £27. Ok, it's wired, but if that's not an issue then grab one now. That's the only minor issue for me. It feels great and plays perfectly. It's very much like an Xbox 360 pad which I love. The online reviews are all good as well. Enjoy!!

I was specifically looking for a wired controller as I'm tired of charging things over and over. After a bit of research found this little gem. It feels well built and have been told by various friends and family horipad is a good company. Iv used it sparingly for about 6 weeks and haven't had any issues with it. Initial connection took a minute longer to register but agte that it plays smoothly for me. I've not pulled the direction pad off as I prefer it this way. Good value for a budget controller.

ive had this controller for a while now! i really like it. it's super comfortable to hold. you can lose grip sometimes though. it's very sturdy and has withstood a few blows. one huge issue, however, is an issue with drift. i really didn't expect it and luckily it's only minimal. but the left stick drifts ever so slightly and sometimes misreads the input. it's not enough to notice most of the time. the wire is super long too. generally great. i hope it holds up for even longer

This is a great item for the Nintendo Switch, a great alternative to the pro controller. It has a turbo button which is amazing for games where you need to repeatedly press a button (great for Splatoon 2)Pro’s:LightweightTurbo ButtonSmooth JoysticksWell madeResponsiveCon’s:Wired (not too much of a problem)It’s uncomfortable for small handsDust get’s trapped in the seams

Well made and is comfortable to use, the dpad is a bit vague feeling with the squashy buttons underneath but apart from that I'd say it was worth the £23.99.Far more comfortable to use than the tiny joycons and no where near as expensive as the nintendo pro controller which is way too pricey for what it is.Over all, it's no bad.

Four stars, because it's almost perfect. Being able to switch the dpad out to have buttons is great for people who prefer them. Loses a star because inexplicably, it can take up to 30 seconds before it's recognised by the system and the press of A taking you to the home screen. Other than that, great stuff.
