This is going to sound strange, but I don't think I've ever enjoyed playing a game as much as I enjoyed playing this one. I thought Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was a great game, but Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is a hundred times better. Almost all of the minor issues I had with the first game were addressed more than adequately, and I have been all but addicted to this game since the day I got it. This is not some cheap game thrown out there to make money off of Pottermania; it is challenging, it is exciting, and it is absolutely addictive. Harry Potter's world really comes alive here. You start out at home on Privet Drive, visit Diagon Alley to get your school supplies, and fly right onto campus, into the clutches of the Whomping Willow tree, in Mr. Weasley's flying Ford Anglia. From that point on, you are immersed in the Hogwarts experience. The opening action is done quite well; while there is no tutorial per se, the game walks you through the opening scene, reminding you how to use the spells you learned during your first year at Hogwarts. At that point, you are ready to experience the events of Harry's second year from the first day of class with Professor Lockhart to the concluding House Points ceremony at year end. The cut scenes from the first game are gone, letting you see and experience every event, and the game is by and large simply beautiful. There is more interaction with the teachers this year, there are almost limitless nooks and crannies of the campus to investigate, and not only are there enough challenges to satisfy just about everyone, the challenges can all be completed successfully by even the youngest of Potter fans. If I can finish a game without resorting to a cheat or two along the way, then I know everyone else in the world can do it.There are some rather significant changes from the first Harry Potter game. First and foremost is the ability to now skip through cut scenes; I did a lot of the challenges several times in order to accrue as many House Points as possible, and it was wonderful to be able to skip right past the opening scenes each time. The way you learn spells has also undergone a radical change; I prefer the old way, but this new method probably makes things easier for younger players. Speaking of something being easier, the Quidditch matches (and there are six of them, each of which you can replay as many times as you like) are radically different. The first game's Quidditch play was fun, but at times I thought I would never be able to grab the Snitch. In this game, Harry automatically follows the Snitch, making for much shorter matches. The fun part here, though, is the fact that you must battle your opposing Seeker; this means that you get to kick and punch the other player around, a most satisfying experience when you are going up against Slytherin and their new Seeker Draco Malfoy. The championship match even takes you underneath the trenches, trying to dodge wooden beams while giving Draco the business. Another great addition to this game is wizard dueling. Not only is it great fun to duel your classmates, it provides an easy way for you to increase your supply of Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans. These beans serve as the method of exchange on campus, and with them you can buy all sorts of wonderful things, from a Nimbus 2001 to Flobberworm Mucous to wizard cards. Wizard cards are important, and they, like the beans, can be found all over Hogwarts. There are fifty bronze wizard cards to collect, and each tenth card you find provides you with an additional stamina level. If you find all forty silver wizard cards, you get access to a special room. Even if you complete all your tasks, you will want to find or buy enough silver wizard cards to gain entrance to this room because here a final challenge awaits you, promising eleven gold wizard cards of the most important wizards in the world (guess who number eleven is?).Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets also makes it easy to maintain your health (although falling into pits, which I frequently did, pretty much turns you into the boy who didn't live); you can locate and/or buy Flobberworm Mucous and Wiggentree Bark, the essential ingredients needed to concoct Wiggenweld Potion. This potion restores stamina, and my best advice to the future player is to acquire as much of this healing potion as you can before taking on the basilisk. You can win beans by dueling, so any time you find yourself in need of more funds, just zip down to the Great Hall and show your opponents what you are made of. I was woefully unprepared for my first two confrontations with the basilisk, but I actually didn't mind because it gave me an excuse to start a new game and do everything again. It takes longer than you might think to actually complete Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and I have no thoughts of putting this game away now. It is as much fun to play the second or third time through as it is the first.

When I played Harry Potter and the Philosophers stone I was somewhat disappointed by the difficult spell casting and frankly fairly confusing game play and the incessant clips and chats with other pupils. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets was surprisingly refreshing. The spell casting is much easier, there are HUNDREDS of hidden places and things to find, the graphics are much fresher and brighter and, most importantly the Quidditch playing is MUCH more fun. It is far easier to control Harry than in the first game and so playing Quidditch was a most enjoyable experience. There is also optional chats with other pupils and often you can learn a great deal from them which I found to be handyon several occasions. The castle itself is bigger and better with more places to explore in between 'lessons', more floors and more interactive features. The more lessons you attend the more parts of the castle you have access to since many require spells to be cast to access them. I loved every second of playing this game - I was thouroughly entertained the whole time, especially when I could wander where I liked instead of being MADE to go places. Of course you have to attend lessons but that is the whole point of the game and they are often much more fun. The wizard cards are WONDERFUL, and the duelling club is excellent (although you have to have learnt a certain number of spells in order to access it).If you are browsing to buy a Harry Potter game I would thoroughly recommend this one. For more experienced game players this is light relief and reasonably entertaining with good graphics and something for everyone, for younger Harry Potter fans this is neither so difficult that they will lose interest, or too easy that they will become bored. With so much to see and do it will keep them quiet for HOURS.Buy this game. You won't be disappointed.Vequihellin.

Although I liked the PC version of Harry Potter and the Philosopher Stone, I admit without hesitation that Chamber of Secrets on PC is definitely better than its predecessor. It has better graphics, better models and characters that have a mouth that moves when they talk than the first game. Also, it is, among all the games based on the movies, the one I prefer the most. And for several reasons. One, because the music of this game represents exactly the strangeness and incredible fantasy that dwells int he Harry Potter universe. And just by listening to a couple of tracks you can clearly understand why Jeremy Soule won at the BAFTA awards for the best video game soundtrack. Second, there are are more wizard cards and spells to uncover, so that one can find out more characters that exist in the Harry Potter world, such as the wizard group called Weird Sisters, and other wizards that are never mentioned that have had an influence on the spells culture and wizards politics in JK Rowling's universe. Finally, it is one of the few games I've played that gives a clear and well structured storyline without big plot holes, so that anybody who has never read the books can understand and not feel lost and confused about what's in the novel and what is not. Not only that, the lessons offer more interesting spells to learn and to replay again and again, and also various games such as wizard duels and Quidditch matches. As such, I think this game is still a great treat to any Harry Potter fan, but also to any PC gamers who love to play a good adventure game.

The reason why I bought this game was because it's Harry Potter... and I have to say that I haven't been disappointed so far. Where the first game looked a little rushed, this game looks more detailed, for instance the characters no longer look like they've had their faces glued on (sorry EA). They've developed an ingenious trading system between the students involving everyone's favourite and dreaded sweet and Fred and George. There is more to do and it feels like you have more freedom in the castle. It looks like they've made Quidditch easier (thank you thank you - I could never get the hang of it myself). Spells are easier too, now you just use the arrow keys for them. But it's still a simple game,an adult will have no problems with it, and the children will have loads of fun discovering all the new spells that Harry has to learn and all the hidden areas. Oh, good news, he still knows all the spells he learned in the Philosopher's Stone game. Oh and for all the newcomers or people who want to brush up on their skills there is a kind of tutorial at the beginning, but if you don't like that there's a short guide that comes with the game and you can skip the scences with a quick press of the return key.The only draw back that I have found is that while I was playing my msn messenger signed in and I was taken to my desktop, but I couldn't get back to the game properly (it might just be me though). But to me the positive of the game really outweighs the negative. If you're a Harry Potter fan then you certainly won't be disappointed.

The PC game of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is radically different from, and vastly more enjoyable than, the game console versions of the game. Whilst the game isn't as big as the PS2 version, its gameplay is superior. The emphasis is on exploration and problem solving, rather than the tedious prefect-avoiding, spell-confusing nonsense of the console game. The controls and general set up are similar to the Philosopher's Stone game but generally better (although I'm one of the few who preferred the "learn the spell" version in Philosopher's Stone). Quidditch is better - it's actually fun! Wizard duelling is also a nice addition although too easy (the console version is equally too easy to become Number 1)There's a stronger narrative from the film version than the last game,so those who've seen the film (or read the book) will recognise what's coming. All in all a very highly recommended PC game. well done EA!

Firstly i want to say is iam really impressed by this game. Graphics are great and i feel overall this game is one of the best HP Games{surely better than the goblet of fire}. All for those who complain about this game being short,i ask them that the size of a game does not matter. One thing that matters is the fun it gives you. For all those who wishes to buy this game i say go ahead. After all this i must say that some parts of this game is slightly boring for those who know the real story a-z. But this game went as close as it can. Some of the challenges were too boring like the spongify challenge. This game is for strategy lovers and not for action gamers. For them quidditch world cup is a perfect game.I personally preffer to buy the tripple pack as i think it gives the three BEST HP Games there is. Overall this game is good and gamers should have a go at this.

This is the second Harry Potter game and is much more fun than the first. It is also more of a challenge and can not simply be completed in a single day. The new way to learn spells is much better if like me you have a stiff mouse. The fact that you choose when to play Quidditch is much better if you fancy a rest from spells and challenges and the Duelling Club is a nice addition to the game to win beans and then to trade them with Fred and George and their colleagues for Quidditch equipment, Wizard Cards and potion ingredients.Bad points - NONE! No bugs and it can only get tiring if you can't complete something and keep trying (something that I have done on other games)which doesn't really happen because although things are a good challenge they are never extremely hard to do.A brilliant game and a must buy for HP fans.

I got this game for my 9th birthday.. i'm 14 now and i found under my wardrobe about a month ago. After dusting it down a bit, I decided i might have a go. Being a great fan of the Harry Potter books i got stuck into it straight away. (its quite easy.. but i love it) i managed to complete it in a few weeks and i'm just doing it again now and i'm about half way through. I'm not great fan of computor games, but this is excellent. Although the graphics arn't great. it was made years ago so who cares? Its cheap, and i recomend it to anyone who's a HP fan or likes to play video games, you'll love it believe me!!! Why only 4 *'s well...i don't think they included as much of the book as they could have, but i'm going to buy all the others and I cant wait!!xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx play it you'll love it xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I'm pretty sure everyone had this when they were younger and as you grow up you sell and trade games in, This is one of many games that I did this with but as I got older you kinda miss old games so you have to buy it again just to re-live that magic that only old games have, So if your new to gaming or seasoned and love Harry Potter when are you even reading this you should be adding to your basket and checking out!!!(J.K was clearing a Dragonball fan as there a few hidden Easter eggs in the book, films amd games referencing dragon ball proof Goku's Nimbus cloud giving to him by Master Roshi Harry Potters first broom Nimbus, End Battle Harry and You know who,Gohan vs Cell we as DB and DBZ fans know this to be true)

This is a great game.It will please anyone from any age range. The spells are easy to use and the Bean trading system is a very good addition as you can get a lot of items that will help you on your quest.Potions are extremely useful but there is not much point in using them until the final battle against the basilisk. The graphics are gorgeous. But to get them up to a good standard you will need a fairly good processor and graphics card. The only problem is that for people from 8 years old and up it will only take about three days to complete the main game. Not a big lifespan. There are a few side quests but they are not especially fun.Wizard Duelling is great fun but not hard until you face thelast man.

I am 12 years old. I have had this game for a year or two, but I am not too found of it any more. I use to love the game! You learned lots of diffrent spells, you could have wizard and quidditch tournaments. Every time you learn a new spell, you do an exciting challenges. Also you find Gnomes, Pixies, Fire Snails and fire crabs. There are also peeves in silver boxes. At the end you fight Voldermort and fight against the huge basilisk. The graphics is high quality and so is the sound. I would reccomend this highly to anyone 9 years+. take my word, it is great!!! Review by Adam Horwich

This is a really good game considering how long ago it was released. The graphics are really good and the controls easy to use. Im only part way into the game but its great fun. You learn different spells along the way and get to explore all around Hogwarts collecting every flavoured beans, completing tasks and battling blast ended skrewts and fire crabs. I would recommend this game to anyone aged 5 and upwards, It does run on windows 7. Im now considering ordering the philosophers stone as well.

Excellent game, just how I remembered it from my childhood, brilliant music, puzzles are challenging, but fun, story is compelling and long enough to get a good deal of fun out of it, and it has great replayability, and even despite the darker story, it maintains a friendly element right the way through. There's plenty of freedom to explore Hogwarts, Quidditch and duelling are great additions, controls are easy to manage and accurate.I adore this game!!

5.3.2012

i have played the first game about 50 times (no eggsaggeration), i absolutely love it, i havn't played this game but if it anything like the first one it is briliant. The fact that you can find wizard card allows you to play the game again and truly explore the game, because ofthis you dont get bored when its your 49th time playiing! Even though this game is quite old now i'm still going to buy it, by far these games are the best i have ever played!!

3.2.2011

The duelling part is very funny too.
