I bought this for my daughter, (16) as a result of the reviews on here and as I use Amazon reviews alot with many things I buy (and think it's an excellent facility) I wanted to contribute my experience.I watched my daughter play it from start to end and I did have a go at each of the activities myself, though it's not quite my thing. Aimed more at children probably. Like other reviews here, my daughter also completed the main game quite quickly and she wished it was longer. The 4 star rating is my daughters and if the game was longer it would get 5 stars. I agree. But she loved what there was and even after "completing" the game there are still many other things to do and collect. For those of you who remember SuperMario on N64, you could officially "complete" the game after getting only 70 stars, but there were a total of 120 stars to collect and the last 50 were alot harder than the first 70, so there was huge mileage remaining after seeing the credits. Although my daughter has officially completed the game, she still has lots of tasks to do; potions, quidditch, duels, things to find and badges to earn and she is still enjoying it.My daughter liked the fact that there were several activities, like duelling, quidditch, hunting/collecting and potion making. Potion making was her favourite and put very simply, it was just great fun (which is surely the point of games). It is a very effective use of the wiimote and very immersive...you have to follow the recipe and shake the bottles, heat the cauldron, pour in just the right amount of the right ingredient and stir it the right amount. Good use of the wiimote and great fun.I must say how fabulous Hogwarts looks in the game. Part of my enjoyment in a game is the visual element. I was very impressed with the level of visual detail in the game and how good everything looked. The sun streaming at an angle through the beautifully detailed windows was gorgeous. So yes, a bit on the short side, especially if you like games like the latest Zelda - Twilight Princess, which by comparison is much, much bigger, but what there is, is great fun and looks beautiful.

You'll probably get those people on here telling you the first few videogames (basically the first one) is the best because it's fun (I think it's purely for the nostalgic value) but listen here guys - THIS is the best Harry Potter videogame (out of all 8 EA games).I'll tell you why! Why does everyone love Harry Potter? Well for me it's the fact it's a completely different world from our own. You know, quidditch, potions, spells, a huge archaic looking school! Well, in this videogame you get to experience all of that. You can walk around Hogwarts - even in classrooms you will not even have any use with, you can go to potions class, cast spells and have duels - all with the actual story running through too!Why this beats all the others:Let's face it.No matter how much we love the first one for it's nostalgic value - the graphics cannot be compared to this. In this Hogwarts looks as it appears in the films unlike the first videogame (this is natural, as this type of graphic technology had not advanced). And instead of little random challenges you got in the first few - the challenges here have all actually been seen in the films! Now why is it better than the seventh and eighth? Well...the graphics get even BETTER in those even though the graphics in here and still outstanding, but the truth is - they are dull. They don't stick to the actual story and both videogames just entail fighting death eaters. So you're basically just clicking the mouse button (for P.C.) again, and again, and again, and again. I think I read somewhere before that what's actually ironic is that J.K. Rowling states that Harry always fights for a reason and the fact he is just attacking death eaters continously (although they are the baddies) - the story is lost and it just becomes a Hollywood-ised sham.So if you want to feel part of the Harry Potter world - you know what to click. Although I don't know why it's so expensive right now. Hmm...

Having played all the other games, they all have their faults. My main gripe with this game is that it's very...samey. You go from brewing a potion (which is hard at times due to the extremely sensitive mouse movement), to a bit of storyline, to being challenged by a slytherin to a duel around every corner...on your way to your quidditch game...where you then go to potions class straight after to brew another potion...more storyline...another duel, another potion etc. Basically the game is either brewing a potion, playing quidditch, or duelling. Halfway through you get to chase malfoy for a fleeting minute. The ending is really easy, except as I mentioned, the mouse sensitivity is really high, where a tiny movement of the mouse shoots the cursor across the other end of the screen. This makes playing quidditch a true skill to get right, and it makes brewing potions hard when you have to be precise with your mouse movements. The graphics are impressive, and the real actors (only a few of them) voicing their characters adds to the gameplay. More accurate parts from the actual storyline are included in places too.Parts are also hilarious, like Ginny and Harry in the room of requirement, when they're trying to hide his potions book.It is fun, if you've got nothing better to do. The only real challenge is getting all the crests and badges, and even then you can still collect those after you've technically finished the game. But what happens when you complete everything? Nothing. It doesn't finish satisifactually.

The sixth entry in the Harry Potter game franchise delivers an immersive, accurate, and fun experience that keeps you coming back for more. With this game, you can literally explore almost every hall and corridor of Hogwarts castle, along with the areas that surround it. The open-world is the most accurate one yet, that is chock-full of detail around every corner. The story is nearly 100% spot on with the film and leaves you satisfied once completed. This game gives you the opportunity to actually explore Hogwarts for yourself, and take part in the magic of the movies with activities such as dueling, potion crafting, and even Quidditch tournaments. My only complaint would be the lack of unlockables within the game. You unlock a grand total of maybe 6-8 spells you can use, and some character and map packs to use in the surprisingly fun multiplayer duels (now you can prove to your friend who is actually the better wizard). Some more spells or outfits to use in single-player would've been nice, but I was really impressed with the game besides that. Highly recommended for fans of the series!

Hey, I've been playing this game for over a year now, and at first, to be honest, I was wondering whether this game would be better than Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. And Oh yes it is, I love the Role-Playing element of the game, naturally i completed the game within two days, but I still play it to do potions and explore Hogwarts. I just love it, the camera angles are much better in this one than the previous one, and the graphics of course. If i have one thing to criticise about this game however is that, yes it is a bit too short, and the characters around the castle are all the same, with the same voices...It gets a bit repetitive. Also, looking at what sort of game the Deathly Hallows is going to be,I reckon that this game, (and the Lego Harry Potter game) is going to be the best game of all of them.

I think that this Harry Potter is the best one so far. The graphics are very good and you get to explore all of Hogwarts castle which looks very realistic. The quidditch is fun but it is quite easy and doesn't provide much of a challange as the computer mainly controls you. I found most of the duels easy which was disappointing. The potion making is definately the best bit as it feels as though you really are making the potion and the time limit makes it much more fun. However the game is really short and it doesn't take long to complete it, which annoys me because i like longer games. I also found it far too easy from the quidditch to the duels, the Order of the Pheonix game was much harder than this one.If you are a Harry Potter fan then you should definately buy this game!

I'd played the xbox version of the game before & really enjoyed it. The game is the same on the Wii but made much more exciting by the controller being your wand! I think this is amazing! You play quidditch, make potions & duel as well as learning spells, which you cast with your Wii controller using different motions for each spell. There are shields to collect which are dotted around the castle & grounds (some are harder to get than others) the game is quite free roaming & even though you're supposed to be on your way to potions class you can just wander off & enjoy the castle. I only wish the game was longer but this has by far been my favourite game of the series (I'm yet to playDHpart2)

I Have enjoyed all of the Harry Potter TitlesI have bought them allThis one has been just as good and i get a lot of pleasue out of playing themBut not a lot of changes from the lastLiked the Quidditch missed that from the last gamesAnd the new Potions Club and the return of the Dueling ClubIf you are Thinking about bying it you should you will enjoy itVery good replay value and if you like to exlporeChildren will like it toJust one bad thing the character Ron Weasley in the game is very poorly done it does not look like the real life person at all.Not the best in the title (Harry Potter prisoner of azkaban you should get that best game)But a great game overall

I really like this game it is so much better graphic wise compared to Order of the Pheonix. I find the spells are easier to cast and I can play it for longer periods. It is a little repetative having to go back every once in a while to get everything but I am more of a casual gamer and tend to find most games repetitive so tend to only play each game for a little while and then go back.I have read that this game in particular is very easy to get through and some have completed in a few hours but i think if you are able to get everything you can take longer to complete the game like I will.I would recommend this to friends as it is a good game with easy to learn spells.

Harry potter half blooded prince is fantastic fun once you get past the first few stages. Graphics arent fantastic. However, the game play is what stands out for me.First of all, quiddicth is ok. Scoring a goal is hard but when your opponent scores you are more likely to score. If you bump into one of your opponents player that have got the ball you automatically get the ball. I would give quddicth 5/10.Hogwarts does kind of look like Hogwarts on the films. Grapichs i would give 7/10.Overall i would give this game 8/10.If you are really bothered about graphics then dont get this game. But if you are looking for a game with good gameplay then buy this game.

For fans of Harry Potter films and console/pc games this is a must have addition to the collection. It loads effortlessly and faultlessly with no messing about and adopted my ancient Saitek game pad without a problem. The game flows beautifully and logically with no need to visiit online walkthroughs. Control is precise with both keyboard/mouse and gamepad with no swinging camera angles which seem to blight most modern games. It is a joy to play and then replay just for the fun of it.

I have always been a fan of the harry potter book series and of the film series. I have also always enjoyed the games ever since Harry Potter and the philosopher's stone on the ps1. However I found the order of the phoenix game to be rather dull. I have to say that this game really delivers and I particularly enjoyed brewing potions and exploring the castle.Graphics- 10/10Sound- 9/10Gameplay- 10/10I highly recomend it.

Enjoyed playing HP and the Half Blood Prince. Pretty good game controls, but at times a bit ungainly. Great graphics, if a bit dark, and excellent avatar reproductions of faces. Slightly short on gameplay time--I finished it in 14 hours, 2 hours an evening for a week, and that was taking it easy. Somewhat disappointed with lack of facial expressions, but overall, a great game and good fun all round, worth the money.

Good game, graphics are as good as can get on PS2. Having seen the film before playing the game it does follow the film really well. You cannot access all of the castle as in previous game but then there is no need to when going through the story. Pity cant access these areas after you have completed the storyline. finished the game in few days. Really enjoyable as you get to perform more dueling in this one.

18.3.2010

This a good but the Cridich level is imposable to get past. So i am fed up trying. It was bought for my daughter who loves the films and she cant past it either never mind me. Okay value for money and came packaged well. The graphics are good and all the areas from the movie are in the game. I would say if you are a fan of the movies and really good at games on the ds then give it a try and good luck.
