This is my first Computer Game, so can't compare it to the other Harry Potter Games or similar, but I LOVE IT! I got it because it was under £5 and I love the Harry Potter movies. It ran great on my MacBook Pro Snow Leopard OS 10.6.7 with no problems installing or running, although I was a bit irked that I have to keep the DVD in the drive to play it and it's a little complicated to exit quickly if you get an e-mail etc.Really enjoyed the graphics and wandering around Hogwarts and exploring all the rooms and grounds and the funny portraits. The Marauders Map was indispensable as was completely lost without it and kept starting new tasks and forgetting what I was doing.Finding the Gargoyles and Luna's things was very difficult and I searched on google for Harry Potter OOTP Game Cheats and found a lot of help, there are even walk through videos on YouTube! Although I'm still not quite sure what to do down at Hagrid's and the Stone Circle. lol.I found it very difficult at first as not a regular gamer and didn't find it very intuitive, the opening section and trying to understand how to work a wand on a track pad was infuriating at first, but really started to enjoy zapping with my wand when I got the hang of it. Wingardium Leviosa being my favourite, although sometimes it was unweildly moving stuff - crap for potions class, but quite funny hitting students with benches, especially Slitheryn ones (hee hee). Levitating Slytherin Students upside-down was also fun and every time I found "Harry wee wee potty" girl it was my favourite response. Also found the mini games hard. Took a while to work out the Gobstones game works with the arrow keys and not the mouse as instructed. Lost out on many points as I can't play chess! I beat the students in the Common Room by luck, but the student in the Great Hall seems impossible to beat, not even tried the Chess in the library.I was surprised when I completed all the Hogwarts tasks, it continued to the Ministry of Magic to complete the film version. When the story is finished you are taken back to Hogwarts on an endless day play mode with no more tasks, just collecting points from places that was missed in the storyline game. I actually really enjoyed this bit, ambling around Hogwarts like a real student, except Ron & Hermoine and other students keep repeating themselves and weren't much use. Thankfully I worked out pressing the shift key stops them speaking if you accidentally action them when trying to do something.Professor Snape it seems is sadly not voiced by Alan Rickman? I would have spent a lot more time hanging around in Potions class otherwise and I was disappointed as all the other voices seem to be voiced by the actors and was great, although near the end, when trying to find gargoyles Hermoine was a little annoying and not as helpful as she could have been! "Are you still looking for gargoyles Harry?" gets a bit tired after 20 times hearing it, especially if you can't find the darn things! So the best things are the wandering around atmospheric Hogwarts and using the wand. The worst is needing to be able to play chess and that there isn't much help during gameplay (unless you search for it online). For under a fiver, the game is definitely worth it though. :)

Harry Potter fever has hit the World again in July 2007 with a new book (Deathly Hallows), a new film and this new game, 'The Order of the Phoenix', which is based on the film that is based on the book by JK Rowling. The game starts in Little Whinging, like in the book, where Harry and Dudley are walking through the park when they are suddenly attacked by two Dementors. After producing a Patronus, the next thing you know you're at Grimmauld Place talking to Sirius Black, completely missing out Harry's rescue from Privet Drive by The Order. As this was such a huge book (over 950 pages), the game has been cut to pieces, jumping chapters at a time by using newspaper articles to explain the story very simpily and quickly.Although this avoids many cut scenes filled with dialogue, for anyone who hasn't read the book I imagine that the plot of the story would be very hard to follow in this game. With this small issue aside, The Order of the Phoenix for the Wii is a great game, featuring a brilliantly detailed Hogwarts that seems to have every corridor, classroom and stairway from the film looking perfect. With it being such a big castle there's so much to explore and do but if you only stick to the main tasks given, the game will be over fairly quickly. You really need to speak to the other pupils and play games like Exploding Snap and Wizard Chess with them and also repair various objects around the school to really make the most of this game. Some tasks involve finding a school friend on the other side of the castle which can mean that you'll be making Harry run up and down corridors for minutes at a time. This is where speaking to others can break up the main story quite well, avoiding boring and repetitive gameplay. Most of the characters are featured and all look very realistic to their film counterparts, although some of their voices are not too good (Hermoine, for example, sounds completely different). The controls on the Wii version work really well and are very fun, using the Wii Remote as your wand to cast spells. The spells are pretty easy to pull off and gives the game a more interactive feel to it. The only problem big Harry Potter fans may find is that the spells are performed differently to in the books and films. For example - Winguardium Leviosa in the book and film is "swish and flick" but in the game it is a flick of both the Wii nunchuck and remote at the same time. A very, very minor niggle - sorry! The Order of the Phoenix for the Wii is a game that fans of Harry Potter should love and is the easily the best Harry Potter game so far. The difficulty is quite easy though, so older gamers should perhaps play this on either the Normal or Hard setting or else it could be finished a little too quickly.

I had found this game to be incredibly annoying, and the graphics pretty rubbish. I finally managed to change the screen resolution and it unfortunately only goes up to 1024x768. I'm sure on tiny screens it looks fine, but on a now average mac monitor of 1600x1050 it's pretty meh. Graphics are now passable. The game itself I have not yet completed, but the best thing about it is that there are ZERO load screens. Having played the playstation version of POA, the amount of load screens for simply going through a door really drove me mad. You can go all the way around Hogwarts and all the secret passages without encountering a single load screen, which really enhances gameplay. Plus, they have clearly worked very hard to bring Hogwarts to life. There is a lot of detail, and a lot of things to do while you're going round and round the castle on your mini-quests. The marauders map is rather irritating, but after a while you do get used to it. Ron and Hermione following Harry everywhere can be handy for group spells, but I've found myself yelling 'MOVE!' a lot because they like to block doorways on a regular basis. Boo. You can't ever play as anyone but Harry too, it seems. It's great that they have some of the real actors to do the voices, but not all of them have taken part :( The characters really do look a lot like them, though. Completing some secret Weasley Twin bundle thingies will allow you to access videos of the movie's cast as they discuss the video game, which is fairly interested. Might make the game stall, though! One large gripe is that I have spent hours, literally hours trying to complete the quest where you get all the DA students together. Hunting down up to 28 students over the entire castle has been torture.Looking forward to completing the game, and for under a fiver it's well worth buying. It will keep you occupied for hours. Also, it seems to include more book references than the actual movie does, which is good, but a shame on the movie's part!

I had to do a follow up to the 'awful review' because i dont think its deserved. Okay, its not the greatest game ever made and its no Resident Evil, but if you dont want to go around hanging up paintings, fixing things, etc. you dont have to! These are just sub missions to the game which increases its life span. Otherwise the game probably would be over quite quickly. There is alot of running about in the game when you have to build up Dumbledor's army and get 28 people to the room of requirments, which can get quite boring (hence the little sub-missions of repairing things and actually doing something rather than just running around) but with most of the kids, you have to do a little mini quest,so i found it entertaining enough.Plus, there are bonuses to doing these pointless tasks, because you become a stronger wizard level and also unlock special bonus videos of the makers and some of the film cast talking about the game. Then again it is quite fun using your wii-mote as a wand anywayI think its a good game to buy if your a younger gamer or really enjoy harry potter because i think this is the best film-to-game made so far for the wii, especially when you consider Spider Man 3, POTC 3, Silver Surfer were all pretty poor. Its received good reviews of around 75% from gamespot and similar websites so it isn't a pile of crap.If your debating whether to buy it, just give it a quick rent or borrow if from a mate.Good Points+ Good Voice Acting+ No Loading Screen, Just 1 Constant Flow+ Graphics are good (for wii anyway)+ The Castle is exactly like from the film+ Unlockables+ Best Game based on a film on the WII+ Use your remote as a wand!Bad Points+ The Camera Angle comes back on you so you may be finding yourself running the wrong way.+ Lots of running around+ Quite short if you do not do the sub missions

Im thirteen and i bought this game a while ago. i am still trying to complete it , so i wouldnt say this game is easy but maybe thats just me. Theres alot of running about in it to complete the tasks which can get quite difficult and if you bought the game you would seen what i mean. The main plot is to round up members of the DA and do tasks for them so they will help you in a battle against the ministry of magic. whilst in hogwarts you can do lots of mini wizard games that you read about in the books and discover magical things and interact with ghosts although Murtle can be very annoying always popping up and talking to you.The graphics are good and its really fun to explore hogwarts and parts of the weaslys house like they do in the films.you get to see the clocktower , hospital wing , stone circle ect. The characters are good and its nice doing tasks for people youve seen in the films like Luna , Fred and George , Ginny and loads others.the only bad points in this game is there is alot of running around hogwarts and how very annoying hermione can get when you dont do the tasks straight away. i once had to turn the sound off because she keeps repeating herself every few minutes, and like i have said above so is Murtle.overall its a very good game and im glad i bought it, hope this helps. i would explain more about the fight in the ministry of magic with Bellatrix and Voldermort which, as i read on the case, is supposed to happen but unfortunatlly im still stuck at hogwarts finding gargoyles.

When you first begin this game and fight off Dementors you presume that the rest of the spells to begin with will be easy, however don't be fooled! When trying to produce spells to help Sirius I struggled so much because I was unsure what I was aiming at.However after you've got over the first part of the game it becomes slightly easier with you having to find DA members. Some of the time the tasks that you have to carry out to find the members can be frustrating as you're unsure what to do and how to do things, particuarly on Luna Lovegoods task which I'm still struggling on now after about a 100 attempts (no exageration!)Obviously as I haven't completed the game I can't give a full review buta couple of things I found annoying is that spells can get mixed up; for example accio and wingardium leviosa keep mixing up and on the task I'm still trying to do I can't do it because the spells mix up!Another thing that may not get on your nerves to begin with but during some tasks it will is that wherever you go Ron and Hermione follow you so sometimes you can't move or see what your doing. All in all this is a good game but it may require some patience at times but I would recommend if you struggle to find a strategy guide online and they're so useful and just help you along the way!

Ah here we are... the summer blockbusters start rolling out and we get the inevitable tie-in game rubbish. So far we've had TMNT (pants), SHREK THE THIRD (spare us!) and SPIDER-MAN 3 (Noooooo!) to name but a few. But wait, what's this? A movie tie-in game that's a lot more than average? Well bless my Quaffle socks! If indeed Quaffles had socks. Which they, er.. don't.If you've no idea what Quaffles are then you are indeed no Harry Potter fan so look away now. This game is for those fans who have longed for walking round Hogwarts and wanted to explore at their leisure.EA have done a wonderful job of bringing the school and characters of JK Rowling's famous books and films to life.Even though THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX is probably the weakest book in the series, the game is packed full of side quests: from tasks to complete for the teachers, to tokens to collect.Yep, those tokens. It wouldn't be a movie game without them. If you're a Potter fan you'll love this - the only quarrel is that it is maybe a bit too huge... it'll have you playing well until the next game is released, which will hopefully be as good as this. Well done, EA!

I got this game 4 days ago and I've finished the main body of it already but with most the sub-missions left. However, it may be short but I probably finished it so quickly because I couldn't put my remote down because I was having so much fun.I'm an avid Harry Potter fan and so when I got a Wii this game was a must have. The remote as a wand is great fun but doesn't always respond how you want it to, but nothings perfect is it?Bad point:I like many other users have found the camera angles a pain and there is A LOT of running around, but if you get passwords for shortcuts it cuts the time down by loads. And of course it's rather short.Good points:The castle is brilliant, just like the movie, and to cut down confusion there is the marauders map to help you get around. The character images and voices are excellent and considering that it's a Wii the graphics are good. Based on the film this game fits well, as it tells you the story as you go through. And most of all you get to use your remote as a wand :DI would definitely recommend this game, but warn you that, if you want a long game, this isn't for you.

I know this game has gotten a lot of stick and some pretty bad reviews but I like it!I admit it is not the most exciting game I have ever played but is not too challenging and that is what I wanted! I don't like having to play the same levels over and over again because they are too difficult to get through and I don't like feeling so frustrated with the difficulty of a game that I'll throw it to the side and not attempt it again. The main game is a little boring and does involve a lot of running around Hogwarts doing mini side quests. The best bits are the mini games - Gobstones, Exploding Snap, Quidditch and the lessons! The lessons are really good and involve Transfiguration, Charms, Divination,Potions, Astronomy, History of Magic, Herbology. You also get to do your OWLs in these subjects!I like it - and if, like me, you are a Harry Potter fan then you'll probably welcome any chance to 'do spells' and 'make magic'.

i bought this game a week ago and i play it nearly every day!its graphics are realy nice, walking around Hogawrts is better than canis cadem edits school, and the spell casting with the wii-mote is quite fun.the bad parts in the game is that it is quite short(i havent completed it yet because i been play more o resident evil 4 wii edition too much, well i completed the main story and the ada wong missions.)the other thing is that hurry feels quite clumsy and the other thing thjat is not that good about it is the wand controls are somtimews easy to forget. But even if you completed the main part you still got all the mini games and the side quest and all the discoveries so theres proberly a good 5hours doing all that sort of thing.so if you like harry potter or like them sort of games then get this now!like what other peeps have said i you complete just sell it or traid it in thats what im doing : D

When i first played the game i was stunned by the graphics. The way the whole game is manufacture is brilliant. It allows you to do tasks, explore hogwarts, do competions, win trophies and see loads of cool clips on the making of the game and movie when you complete a certain amount of things around Hogwarts.Well worth your money. I advise you not to listen to the people who complain that the Wii remote does not respond to the spells. Once you get the hang of it, like a real wizard or witch would have to, then its a doddle. And besides, when you collect enough points and get to a high level, your spells become very powerful and the wii rmeote becomes much more sensetive to movements makingperforming spells easy.i would definitly buy this if you are a Harry Potter fan or want to try a new type of gaming.

only one thing about this game is wrong slytherins yep all they do is pick a fight with you, and i love it! i usually stun them and use protego to defend because expelliarmus(dissarming spell)is to easy all you have to do is diarm them and stun them no fun in that is there? but my favourite feature of the game is when youve just finished of a gang of slytherins proffesser snape is usually heading your way so the best bit is reparing all the broken vases and paintings and pegging it, i sometimes wish i could stun snape as he nearly sees me hidden in a secret passage way but i resist and hunt for my next victim...brilliant game overall if your looking for destroying the slytherins using wandlore BUY THIS GAME ...good luck

I love this game. The recreation of hogwarts is fantastic and awe-inspiring, as you explore and run around the school you feel like you are really there. The use of the wii-mote as the magic wand is great fun as you use it to cast spells to solve mysteries and defeat enemies. Fantastic. There are also some really fun mini-games littered around the school for you to take part in.The downside of the game is the length - it is far too short and if you put in a serious gaming session you could probably finish it really quickly, especially if you avoid the mini-games and sub-quests. However, I would recommend this game.... buy it for the fun,and when you finish it you can sell it on or trade it in.

Surprisingly good game compared to the previous ones. Graphics are good, tasks are fun enough (although can be tedious), controls add another dimension to the gameplay. Other reviewers have said that the controls are awkward when performing spells but I would disagree. I find spells straightforward to perform and this feature is a big positive for the game. I haven't completed it but there seems to be plenty of things to do and Hogwarts is huge. The only downside to this is that it is easy to get lost. Another annoying thing about the game is Ron and Hermionie who seem to be right behind you all the time and will not shut up. Overall, not the best game on the Wii, but good nonetheless.

29.10.2008

I will begin with my positive thoughts of this game. I really enjoy casting spells which makes good use of the stylus and touch screen and the overall game is not too imposible (which I personally like). However, my negative point is that there is a huge amount of running about and the directional arrow that you have to follow can get a little confusing ocassionally. I think if this game were to be re-designed, Hogwarts should be smaller so it doesn't take as long to get from one place to another and some of the graphics should be a bit better.Overall, I would recommend this game if you don't want anything too challenging and are a fan of Harry Potter.
