A really fast, incredibly technical and vivid 2D beat em up!!In response to some of the overly critical reviews that the game reviewed in reference to it's controls, I think it is important to point out, the game is designed and is best played using the gamecube pad or classic control attachment..I have to be honest I haven't bothered with the wii remote and anyone buying this game would be best advised to play it the way inteneded. The game really does looks smooth and features some attractive if not slightly bizarre character models I've seen. The pace that the battles can reach is nothing less then sickening and the hardcore guitar mashing only aids in the fun.Being a fan of this genre,I instantly fell for Guilty Gear and it's lush design, perhaps the only criticism I had was for the surface depth of the game. If like me you like to beat a game and be treated to some nice cut scenes, you will be sadly disapointed, however it really isn't about that !! this is one for the hardcore beat em junkie, but anyonee who wants to get canned up and beat some friends to the sound of guitars being mashed will adore this..Heaven or Hell...Heaven for some, hell for the casual gamer who can't get past the dated genre of 2d beat em ups!

Very good buy for the money. Fast paced 2D fighting. Not a completely polished top notch game. Can't seem to unlock a great deal but what is immediately available is enough. I guess its play time might be limited when in single player mode but clearly this game is for 2 players fighting each other. Recommend using a Wii Classic Controller. I was able to pull off an 'instant kill' fairly easily - very satisfying. The game features some strange anime characters which I always like (they come with funny sound effects and speech too). I really like the way you can mix it up and string together 'gattling combos' of your choosing. Ultra quick load times - the graphics are simple yet extremely effective. No 'tag' in option but you have punch, kick, slash, heavy slash & dust buttons. This gives you the ability to apply some unique moves. Its all about overwhelming your opponent with attacks - you can defend but I wouldn't recommend it! I haven't fully worked out the burst gauge or tension gauge yet. There is plenty of scope for more advanced tactical fighting.Makes a great little addition to any fight fans stash.

To be fair, the only competition to this is Capcom vs. Tatsunoko, which is equally great. But the problem remains that this is an incredibly technical and deep fighter, hindered by the need to use the classic controller as opposed to a proper arcade stick. Of course, both the Hori stick as well as custom solutions exist for this problem, but the outlay is extortionate for such a small number of games that can make proper use of it. Guilty Gear, itself, remains something beautiful, but as another reviewer points out, it is not a game for small children, who will likely be frustrated by the combination of difficulty and minimal tangible reward. This is a game of skill, where the development of that skill is the ultimate reward. Seen as such, and for gamers with a love of 2D fighters and only a Wii, this is a must-buy. That being said, the caveat remains that such gamers would be better off buying a 360 or PS3 to satiate their needs.

This game looks very stylish and is fun to play. The game can be played with the wiimote and nunchuck, but I would stick to the wii classic controller. This is because in a fast fighting game it is hard to pull off quick attacks by swinging the wiimote or using the directional pad on the wiimote. The game looks great and nostalgic, the characters themselves are interesting and very anime. Some characters are very strange and a bit creepy. There are also different modes such as arcade, survival and training. The rock music sounds great in the background and suits the game very much.Overall:8/10Graphics:7/10Gameplay:8/10Lasting appeal:8/10 different modes to play.

I agree with the above poster, this game is incredible, I am an old skooler who use to duel it out since the days of street fighter on every 2D fighter but this is combo crazy, and the characters look cool. Don't bother playing with Wiiremote/nunchuck it's useless, get yourself a wavebird controller or better yet a arcade stick. In my opinion this is the greatest 2D fighter ever, with air combos, air control, double jump, fast paced, shadow moves, it beat's street fighter and any other 2D fighter, yes even all thos marvel vs capcom and capcom vs snk thing. It would have been even better if this was playable online.
