I bought this at an official GoPro Authorised reseller. With the GoPro official accessories, you can never really go wrong. I have owned the older version of these batteries as spares and have tested them out too.What is great with GoPro is that they try to make most of their accessories backward compatible. You can use the older GoPro batteries (without blue bottom) in the camera in most circumstances. However, the GoPro8 requires a higher discharge rate with different modes of shooting - for example 4k, many frames, with boost hypersmooth 2.0. i actually tested all of the modes on the old battery, and couldn't really see any issues (possibly because i started on a full tank for most.
