I've played just about every Gauntlet game, right through from it's humble beginnings on the Amiga, to it's slightly less serious incarnation as Dark Legacy on the early PS2, and now onto Seven Sorrows; and 7S easily trumps it's predecessors and comes out king.To start with, combat is immensely more fun. No more monotonous X-X-X-X-X combos here, now you can throw in block-crushing [] attacks and enemy-hurling /\ attacks to add to the fun, and mix all three together for a variety of powerful, and undoubtedly painful, combos. Gold earnt from levels now goes towards buying new combos, including the powerful Mana attacks (each character has four, as well as their Mana Burst, which,for a large chunk of your mana bar, wipes out every enemy on the screen.)The storyline is, to say the least, overly melodramatic. By the time the Emperor had told me about his 4th sorrow, I was about ready to turn tail and kill him instead. Nonetheless, it's bareable in exchange for the fun the game can give you.Gauntlet Seven Sorrows brings one back to memories of those old Arcarde games; it's simple to pick up, easy to master, but damn-near impossible to put down. And with 4-player compatibility through the Multitap, the fun just keeps on growing.A definite must-have for fans of the old games, and highly recommended for those curious to see what all the fuss is aboot.

This game is excellent. I bought it the day ot came out, and i wasn't dissapointed. If you enjoy action, strategy, hack 'n slash or RPG's then this game will rock your world. You can choose from 4 characters, The warrior (with a huge axe), The elf(with a cool purple longsword) the wizard( with a staff) and the valkyrie (with a green scimitar). The graphics are amazing, the bosses are REALLY cool, and the levels are great. Me and my mates played on this for 5 hours straight, and didn't want to stop! I would reccomend this game to everybody. If you like dark legacy, this is your game. If you didn't, buy this! It is the best. With great special moves, a very smooth combat system (you can block,and there's different buttons for close range and long range!)and fancy finishers.The background is interactive, the armour and weapon upgrades are the coolest. Best of all is the co-operative play. You and up to three friends can all enter the levels and battle alongside each other.(if you all press R2 at the same time its very kool=P)I would reccomend this game to all. Buy it! (also amazon is ofering a great price, get it quick!)Keep Gaming!

this game has many aspects tht a rpg fan wud want ina game.including its coop play which is alson a bonus and a much better detailed game (of course) compared to its original style.i reccomend it especially for the coop play.

Great graphics, and simple, action based, game play. Excellent for anyone who likes a good hack and slash from time to time.
