As a jump up from previous microsoft Fs efforts, its got a certain something. All the old stuff is there, once again with realism that covers just about every loose end from before, such as convincing clouds and weather and some real ATC available on most flights. The scenery is somewhat the same locations as before, with L.A., San francisco, Washington DC and New York (minus the twin towers, an ominous hole instead stands below as a reminder for simmers too of tzhe misuse of airplanes) being incredible. London should also be likewise incredible, but clearly this was made in America and (unbelievably) the Millennium Dome sits in all its spikeyness on the South Bank where the Millennium Wheel should be!.Then comes the big loss. All othe Fs versions before had a simple click of the mouse to gain "user mouse as stick" as an option. It's gone. Forever. No more using a mouse yoke unless you search hard on the web for a BIG download someone made to reverse this misguided decision. It is a big loss for disbabled users. Probably Micrsoft want to sell more (expensive) flight yokes. Whatever, that is really the ONLY downside to this sim.Everything else is there, start it up and you find yourself (after a wait for the scenery to be set) in a flying lesson being talked to thoughout and told off for using too much rudder, but it is convincing, especially as clouds and sunsets etc are now better that should be allowed outside of God's creation. Water is also splashy, and there is also a plane with floats to land on the stuff in lakes or the sea. Meigs airport is strangely still the centre of this sim, even though inrerality it has been bulldozed over. What is truly impressive and good for any low level flight is the houses and trees that are nearly always there, even in obscure countries (i never knew Albania had so many airports!). And then the airport choice is really an eternal task. There really is an airport fopr every country, most countries have 10 or over 2000 at least! Although there is still a big need for scenery add-ons, it works best in flatter land (though you shopuld see the Grand Canyon!)The helicopter flies better that any previous version, engines and wheels smoke at start up/ touch down, and the add-on range is more that adequate. What appears to be another niggle is that many previous FS planes will not work here, though the new ones that do (and there are 1000's from the web) are usually breath taking too.

I Brought the game for 4 quid and it came before it said it would, the usual great Amazon delivery times. There are 3 discs and the game takes about 25mins to install. We have a 3 1/2 year old desktop crammed with stuff (3GB RAM, 640GB hard drive, Win7 32bit) and the game ran flawlessly. There are a great range of airports and planes (I have already crashed a Boeing 737 into the Avon Bridge near Bristol) including the Learjet 45 and the Boeing 747. The game has a good tutorial for beginners, like me, although the american voices were a bit irritating after 10 minutes. The main down side is the keyboard controls, which, being polite, are absolutely awful. To take off you press the up arrow. If you press it a bit nothing happens and if you press it more you flip over. And you can't correct it because you'll nose-dive the ground. And once you're steadily climbing you cant level off beause you'll nose-dive again (hence the Avon Bidge crash). Because of this i highly recommend a joystick to use this game. Unfortunately the keyboard controls sort of ruin an otherwise great flight simulator.

A good game, and my little brother LOVES IT! He wont come off it, keeps nagging me for my joystick!Rated it 4 stars out of 5, but still a CLASSIC GAME! Really worth it for the cheap price! I used to have it but my disc snapped, so I searched here on amazon and got this version cheap, and at least it runs without crashing, unlike when my older scratched discs used to crash the game!Definitely worth the purchase!

Purchased this for my husband who is flying mad. First computer game he has had - brilliantly received by him - kept him busy for 18 hours before he had a break! Delivery was swift and packing was good. Would recommend this to any flying nut!

I Bought this game for 3 quid of one of the sellers. It's well worth the price. Graphics are good, and the flight take-offs and landing are very realistic, probably a good idea to buy a joystick first as the controls are extremely sensative.
