Now the title may indicate that I wasn't a fan of last years but actually it was my most played game on the wii purely down to its pick up & play-ability. This years edition instantly is better purely because it has a manager mode , if they released last years game with just a manager mode I would have been happy, they didn't they put new controls in which at first I thought we're very off putting but after a couple of matches I was getting used to it & now feel it's genuinely for the benefit of the game( even if you get confused when playing with your mates & little cursors are flying all over the screen, ) My friends first comment was "god these controls are difficult " but he also settle after a couple of mii matches.( the mii matches are a welcome extra also just a little bit of fun but reminds me of the mario charged football ie arcade style )The manager mode is VERY basic you can't really do a lot with it but you can buy/sell players deal with contracts/media & nurture talent ( sort of.... my player at stoke went up 3 levels in one match but the next match returned to his old level ??? don't know why & no manual to explain ) Again I am not putting it down it's just we're all used to football manager & champ manager's deph of controls but of course this just isn't achievable with the wii unfortunately, either way very pleased to have it in & certainly better than just entering tornament after tornament last last year. The graphics are improved but to be honest I couldn't tell because I think the camera angle I choose, but the replays really do show some pretty impressive shots of players that look like the real players ( even dave kitson was pretty darn good considering he's at stoke I Was quite surprised ) In game sound is as good as last year no real need for improvement. One thing I have noticed which I'm disapointed with is the Music on the disc, last years was brilliant loads of songs & I often left the wii on with the music playing around the house but this years songs aren't the same style or even don't seem to be so many of them so I am slightly disapointed on that note. Gameplay,it flows great charactors respond well to this new meter we have so you really have to build your play up to score great goals, the players slow dramatically when they are tired & I actually have to be tactical now & not run them around the pitch all match on pressing mode as I end up needing to use all of my substitures. Shooting: this one is a biggy I spent ages running around the pitch trying to find areas you can score fluke goals from ( as in fifa 08 it was near the corner you fire one in at the keeper & the keeper hits it into his own net worked about everyone 1 in 3, also the keeper often chucked it to his closest defender & if you marked him you could pick up an easy goal) but this one wow there is nowhere, the GK is actually clever now you hit a shot from the corner & it flies off ANYWHERE the game relies a lot of randomness ( by that I think it means my players abilities perhaps if I had rooney , the guy on the front cover :p he would be able to score some screamers ) also I spent a lot of time practicing in the 'academy' where you learn like practice mode, & the shots do just seem to be random sometimes left sometimes a bit to the right & you run & hit & bang over the bar. So shooting a little disapointing when EA know the only thing people want is to score beautifully random goals every so often. So to sum it up, the new controls are great but last years weren't bad so they could have kept them as another option, management mode MAKES this game but it's still as enjoyable as last years, I have yet to use the game cube controllers on it so perhaps that will help when friends come around. Other than that what more could you add?? I would just love football manager interface with fifa game inside but I definately think that is pc territory. 8/10 would be my grade as its not vastly different on last years but longetivity will keep this going till next year if you have friends that enjoy a good game now & again.

Having been a PES fan for many years, this was the first FIFA I've played in a while and I was not disappointed. EA have crammed a lot of gameplay features and options into FIFA 09.You can play the game with realistic looking players and stadiums or choose 8 vs 8 Mii-like carricatures with big heads, who play in a training ground. The latter option is fun for a couple of games, but after I played the "advanced" game I didn't want to go back to the cartoony version. You can play FIFA 09 against computer controlled teams, against human friends, with human friends in co-op mode, or online against players from across the world. You need an EA account for the last option, but it's free and you don't need a friend code.I already have an account for Medal of Honor 2 so I was able to use that. The game plays very well. You use the remote to point where you want to pass, then hit A to move the ball. You move your players using the nunchuk so you'll need two of these if you want to take on a friend or family member. To shoot at goal you shake the remote. It's all very intuitive, but shooting does seem a little on the random side. Tackling is done by either sliding in (shaking the remote again) or pressing the B button to nick the ball.FIFA 09 isn't without its faults though. The sound effects are fine, but the commentary is hit and miss. Andy Gray's comments are either frequently late or just plain wrong. It's also a pain that there is no animation when a player is booked or sent off, so if you blink you'll miss the small dialog box which flashes up in the top right-hand corner. Gray often makes comments about players being injured but there is no on-screen indication whether this is the case or not.One more serious problem occurred when we were playing a 2 player game and my son's keeper was red carded for bringing down my striker in the penalty area. He was taken straight to a substitution screen and told he must put another keeper on the pitch. Sounds reasonable doesn't it? Unfortunately the game wouldn't let him swap an outfield player for the keeper sitting on his bench, and to cap it all the game then crashed when we tried to return to the action. The first time any Wii game has crashed on us.Two player mode is great fun, and we also enjoyed playing in co-op mode. Unfortunately it doesn't look like you can play two human teams in a league or cup tournament which is a real shame. You can play in co-op mode, but it would have been great to play the Barclays Premier against human AND computer teams rather than just the latter. I may be wrong, in which case it is not at all obvious how to do this and the instruction manual is no help in this case.So there you have it. The game gets 4 stars for being great fun, making the most of the Wii's unique remote, and because there are so many leagues and cups to conquer - as well as online. It loses a star because of the minor niggles noted above, but especially because you can't enter two human teams into a league or cup tourney. Overall though, great value for your £30.

I bought this game after reading other reviews as they seemed pretty favorable. they were right. you can literally plug this in and play. you can make the controls as easy or as hard as you want. they are pretty easy to pick up and there's a tutorial to help with the finer details and more intricate skills you can acquire.the game play is smooth and realistic although the commentary does seem to lag behind in parts or indeed, get it completely wrong. example, when the ball went out for a corner i was congratulated on my sliding tackle??the odd glitch aside, this is an extremely playable game with loads of features that enhance the playability. there's manger mode which is similar to championship manager although not nearly as in depth.you can play against or for over 500 teams which is unlike most other football games i've played as you normally only get the top tier teams in european/world football. i'm currently cruising at the top of the championship with Nottingham forest (i guess the realism isn't too great here :-P). the whole squad is there to choose from, and it's great to be able to beat derby county day in day out.there's also tournament mode and footii mode where you play with your wii mii alongside the greats of modern football. this is good fun.i've only had the game long enough to play a few games but it's very enjoyable and depending on your control settings can either be very simple or quite tricky to play. i believe that once i've played for some time, i will feel this is the best football game i've ever played.game gets 4 stars because of minor glitches (like commentary) but otherwise very playable and good value

When i first got this game i thought it would be quite disapointment but i was wrong the graphics look great the stadiums look realistic the only disapointment is that theres no ref on the pitch or linesmen and it doesn't have cut scenes when players get booked also little things like players like Agbonglahor, micah richards etc could have there shirts untucked as its not very realistic every player having there shirt tooked in also the premier league goalkeepers could have there real kits because i am stoke fan i was really looking forward to seeing Sorenson in his kit but was disapointed to see he wasn't just in the boring ea blue kit that every goalie wears apart from the big 4 newcastle, everton spurs etc it wouldn't harm ea to fo a few more. Also you should be able to pick who you want in the international teams as we are unable to have heskey in the england team but we can't!!!!! also giving it a cheesy name like 'fifa 09 allplay' puts people off this game as if its for kids but its not its a great game even for the hardcore fifa fans. So overall a great game but could be improved like players having shirts tucked out and realistic kits for goalies although they don't have them on the xbox either so its not much of an issue and international selections would be good its great fifa for us who chose a wii and now cannot afford a xbox or a ps3. right back to my career with The stoke, whos next? great man u away , defend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fifa 09 is a great inprovement over last year. The only really problem is that the 8 v 8 Footii is very addictive, and that may not sound like a problem, but you'll hardly ever find yourself on the real football game. The All-Play system is a great addition for beginners as the computer moves for you. That may sound disaterous and if one person is using a nunchuk it can be, but if you're all using wiimotes then it's great fun.Overall it's a great game. The 8 v 8 is addictive and makes the normal footy seem boring and redundent. 5 star fun rating and 4 star overall because of the boring normal footy.P.S: If you like to play the normal footy the simple thing to do is avoid 8 v 8 like you woulda hunting knife.

Ok, let me start this off by cutting to the chase: the graphics are not that great, there are no fancy features such as online or ultimate team, and the controls are hard to master, but I still turn on my neolithic Wii and play this in 2013. Why? I hear you ask. Because the gameplay was so fun! Some of my best memories are sitting in the front room with my best friend and playing countless hours of FIFA 09 and eating cocktail sausages and Doritos. I now play Xbox, but I would rather sit at my Wii and win the Champions League with Accrington Stanley than pwn n00bs on COD. Honestly, you're not a true FIFA fan until you've played FIFA 09 on the Wii.

All the fifa games are brilliant. Fifa on the wii just brought it to a whole different level. However, they've focused so much on the cartoon bits that they've forgotten some major parts to the game. I.E. There is no way to cross the ball, the game play is very slow and the tempo cannot be edited. Despite this the major good point is the wirless (free) internet access, the connection is brilliant and you can play your friends; it is easy to setup and use. A good game, but a real let down.

This game is vastly improved compared to 08.The controls are ripped from Pro Evo, but simplified and they work well. The Mii mini games and 8 Vs 8 matches are class. All in all its a great game.Take it online and it's a poor job. The matches work fine, the servers are great, it's just that there's no Mii matches and no "point and click" passing, ie, all the things they've added are missing online. It's plain lazy and prevents this great game from achieving a great score!

Far superior WII version of Fifa. SO much more detail than all the Fifa's that were realeased after this one. Better gameplay, more diff. levels, more detailed Manager's Mode, more realistic Transfer Mode. If you are disappointed in the Fifa's from 2014 downwards then buy 09. It's as close to the PS2 version that you can ever hope for on the WII.After buying and trying all the updated ones over the last 3 years - I'm sticking to 09 forever!

17.3.2009

The Wii version of FIFA 09 is great, altough the graphics miss out a few details when compared with the PS3 and X-Box version but the playability is there. The way the control was adapted is great, the nunchuck is very well used and the way you shoot the ball is 5*I bought this for 5£ with my new Wii, so, for this money, I'm very, very happy. So, I would buy this again!!

I brought this for my son for Christmas and it is based on his opinion that this game gets a 5 out of 5. He is 7 and he plays against his 5 year old brother. The game is easy enough for both of them to play and is also enjoyed by their dad and uncles who are between 25-30.

11.2.2009

I purchased the Wii FIFA 09 All-Play as part of my Christmas present to my 9 year old grandson - at my son's suggestion. What a great present it proved to be - he absolutely loves playing this game!Very good value for money from AmazonMany thanks!

26.8.2012

ALL play is a very enjoyable football game, which can be played by younger players to a high level easily. Even some dad's will think they are quite good. My son is five and loves it. He is also understanding football better and the rules. Result.

26.5.2009

Excellent value for money, this has so much choice of teams, play style skill level and so on. This has been played with every day and boredom has not set in. It should keep us going until FIFa 2010. Here's hoping it is just as good.

3.12.2008

Great fun gameplay. Only one issue. The goalkeepers AI is awful. Still a must but for any football fan that owns a wii. Would still recommend this version over the PS3, PS2 and Xbox 360 ones anyday. Simply put: A Great Game!
