We are a "hot water bottle family" and we use them all the time. I had one of these years ago, and we tried many others afterwards. But they were all not "it". So we bought a few of these again and YES, everyone is happy.They get hot, but not overheated. And yes, we do use boiling water in it.....

easy to open and use it does not have the very strong rubber smell that a lot of hot water bottles do, I am a fan.
