I wouldn't be without my Snuggle Safe 'hot water bottle.' Recently on a trip away I forgot to pack my Snuggle Safe (eeek!) but fortunately it was Amazon to the rescue, who delivered my replacement/spare to where I was staying the following day. Microwave it before bedtime, and it's still warm (not cold and clammy like a traditional hot water bottle) in the morning. Okay, so it's not particularly comfortable to lie on, but if it's chilly and you need warming up, pop it in bed with you and you're warm and toasty for the night. Having various health problems, including a long-standing back problem, I use mine all year round. Put it against your back for back pain or muscle spasms,on the tummy for period pains, put your feet on it to warm up cold toes, hold it against your ear for ear-ache...the list of uses is endless!Fresh out of the microwave it's most definitely HOT! Eight hours (or more) later though and there's still a fair bit of warmth in it. It's perfect for anyone who struggles filling a normal hot water bottle (perfect for the elderly or disabled, as there's nothing to spill filling it). After a few minutes in the microwave (6 minutes in my 850 watt microwave - there's times shown in the instructions for various wattages) it really does stay warm ALL night, and unlike some microwaveable heat packs it's reuseable without having to go through any complicated rituals to get it into a state where it can be reused. The heat retaining gel stuff stays firmly inside its solid plastic cover (it looks kind of like a solid frisbee, just under an inch in depth) so there's no danger of leaks like you get with those flimsy gel-filled hot water bottles, and it comes complete with its own fleecy cover which is washable. It stays warm all night (did I mention that before?), which in my opinion is one of its best features, and as long as you have a microwave (though I'm sure I've read somewhere that you can warm it in hot water in a microwaveless emergency, though I'm not 100% on that one) it's so easy to use - no spilling boiling water trying to get it into the small opening of a hot water bottle, or fiddling to screw the cap on (after of course making sure you've not got loads of air in your hot water bottle).Advantages: safe, stays warm all night, reusable, comes with its own fleecy coverDisadvantages: a bit uncomfortable to lie on, requires a microwave to heat itConclusion: BUY ONE! You'll wonder why you didn't do it years ago!

I originally bought two of these almost by accident. I had the intention of providing a bit of supplemental night time heat in my small chicken coop, but it turned out to be completely ineffective for that job. In hindsight you need something (i.e. a duvet), to slow down the heat loss, otherwise the chooks just get real toasty for 5 minutes and then go back to freezing all night. So, one night I'm shivering away in my bed with <10C temperatures outside, wondering whether to turn on the house heating - and worrying about fuel prices - when I remembered this thing. Does it only heat chickens? In fact does it work at all? So I pop it in the microwave for a few minutes, and the rest as they say is history! Now I don't even think about it. On any mildy chilly night I'll heat it up in the microwave just before going to bed, and look forward to a comfy night's sleep.I don't really see why people complain that you can't cuddle it. First, I remember as a kid that rubber hot water bottles aren't exactly cuddly either, but in any case I just kind of curl around this and it's delicious - plus the washable cover makes it nice to the touch. As to the yoghurt: first sterilize a quantity of milk as you would for a baby - lets say 2L. Cool quickly to around 35C, optionally add a tsp vanilla essence and then add a small pot of plain unsweetened yoghurt (the smallest you can find). Note that this is your starter culture so it MUST be "bio live" yoghurt. Put the covered container under a duvet along with a well warmed heatpad, and leave for 10-16 hours (the longer you leave it, the thicker it gets). Hey presto, more yoghurt than you can use!

The last winter was cold, dark and harsh - and it would have been hell without this product! I love how it lives up to the all night heat it promises. It really does last 8 hours. You might have to leave it in the microwave for longer than the recommended time however - the trick I found in order to ensure that you don't damage the product is to increase the microwave time by increments. After the initial (recommended) time, microwave it for an additional 30 seconds, then check if it's hot enough, then another 30 seconds, etc. For an 800w microwave 7 and a half minutes should do it. That's what I do, at least, and it lasts me the whole night.Note that it WILL be HOT. Caution also, when it's been heated for too long, the stuff inside turns to liquid - when this happens, try to cool it down. What I didn't expect when I received it was how hard and heavy it is. it's NOT a hot water bottle, don't be mislead by that. It's like a brick, so to those looking for something snuggly, this isn't the product you'd want to hug. It is also very heavy, and to be frank, it's also perhaps as heavy as a brick. But - ultimately, it's a great product. I can't complain, because I bought it for its general heating purpose and not so I can snuggle it, and it fulfills that purpose wonderfully. Excellent for a warm (although not snuggly) allnighter!

I have been using these heat pads for years along with the rest of my family! My brother has had a few, my nannie and my great grandmother, and my mum uses one too.-Unlike a lot of reviewers here, my heat pad is probably about 6 years old now and is still working as it was the first day I purchased it, however I don't use it every day so if it's something that will get heavy use I would recommend changing it every couple of years just to stay on the safe side.-Mine does look different to the one in the picture - it is a navy blue with white paws but is just as pretty.-The thing I like best about these is that they stay hot for so much longer than anything else, and they are so easy to use.I just pop it in the microwave for 5-6 minutes and then it lasts me the entire night! I also do think that it is nice and cuddly, as the cover means that it feels soft and is not too hot and it makes it nice to hold. I also think the size makes it versatile as it can go anywhere. I personally like to pop it in my bed on chilly nights about an hour before I hit the hay - it warms the bed up nicely!-I genuinely have not experienced any cons for this product. It is so nice to find a product that stays hot for the entire night and is also easy and quick to use.

I bought one for my daughter who is living overseas as the landlords don't turn on the heating nor do they own a kettle. I did a lot of research for a microwaveable HOT water bottle and bought two of these, one for me to test to make sure that the one that I sent her would keep her warm. The Scottie All Night (snuggle safe) lives up to all the claims, it is still hot in the morning, the only downside, I don't want to get out of bed.Yes the Scottie All Night is hard but once I got used to that I found that it is ok to prop up against me in bed or when sitting around the house. It's not as comforting as a hot water bottle when warming your feet as unlike a hot water bottle it doesn't mould around them. The scottie doesn't feel hot when you touch it but when you use it,it is really effective. I am buying some more now as gifts for friends to take to sporting events. One reviewer mentioned that the cover doesn't fit very well, it doesn't but I haven't ever found the pad to be really hot.If you are looking for an effective, long lasting, microwaveable heat source I would definitely recommend this.

Having had some of the "Hotties" hot water bottles already, I thought I'd try these as an alternative as the Hotties tend to spring leaks, or start "ballooning" after a year or so of regular use.I was a little sceptical about these, as they are rather hard to the touch, but I don't find a problem with them, and have fallen asleep with feet resting on them. They keep hot for about 10 hours, and still give off useful warmth after this, whereas the hotties are cold after about 6 hours. They are not as hot as hotties if heated to the specified times, and given the time they stay warm it is not worth the overheating risk to get more from them by "cooking" for longer.I'll see how long these last, the packaging says to stop using them after 3 years. At least they can't be damaged by being folded by my feet. All in all a very nice hot pack.

I totally agree with Kerry on this product. I had a stroke last year and seem to be cold most of the time, so I need a bottle in bed all year. With limited use of my hands, conventional bottles proved impossible, and I don't always have someone here to help. I tried the wheat-filled ones, smells of lavender but only stays hot for about an hour, stone cold in two. Then I bought a Hottie, which stays hot for about 2 hours with some residual warmth after 2 more. Neither is any good if you wake up cold in the small hours, unless you have a microwave in the bedroom. The Snuggle Safe stays hot for at least the 8 hours they claim, and I've still had useful warmth from mine 12 hours later. It's enough to just have it in bed with you - you don't need to make contact. I've now bought two more to keep me going during the day as well.

My wife has poor circulation, and likes to get into a warm bed. She is terrified of electric blankets (because of all the house fires associated with them), and won't use hot water bottles having had leaky experiences in the past. A couple of hours before bedtime I put two of these heatpads on her side of the bed during cold weather - one for her back and one for her feet - and she loves them. Even in their fleecy linings they are hard, so you wouldn't want them as Teddy Bears, but you can always throw them out when you get in. Because they're not cuddly, I'm only giving them four stars. Hopefully, the technology will improve so that a softer version will become available.

Bought as a present for someone else because I find them so useful. I had an old feral Tom that I grew very fond of and although he wouldn't let me touch him we had a rapport and I made him a snug bed in my garage at the end of his days. I used to heat up a couple of the discs and put them under the bedding and they stayed warm all night and must have been very comforting for his old bones! After he passed on I've started using them myself - with new covers!! - and they're so much better than hot water bottles. Stay warm for 8 - 12 hours and so useful for lots of things. Recommended!

I have an elderly furry friend and thought this might be helpful for his old bones and muscles. He loves it! and so do I, We have to share it now as it helps ease my lower back. It stays warm for 8 hours and you can heat it in the microwave for a maximum of 7 minutes or less according to how warm you want it. It comes with a thick fleecy cover but I also put another blanket on top just to make sure it isn't too hot for him. I guess I either have to buy another one for him or me, we can't go on sharing this like!!

I agree the cover isn't too goodWe took the old cover off it, put the hottie in an old pillow case, then my wife sewed it up.When heating it up, just fold the pillow case around the bottle and stick the whole thing in the microwave.Microwaves heat up anything moist, so the gel inside is heated without any effect on the pillowcase.Certainly easier to heat than a normal hot water bottle and no chance of pouring hot water over yourself.I would highly recommend this product.

NO IDEA HOW IT WORKS, BUT IT MOST CERTAINLY DOES REMAIN WARM FROM THE TIME IT COMES EX THE MICRO WAVE TILL AFTER i HAVE TO GET UP IN THE MORNING. IT IS NOT SO HOT TO START THE NIGHT THAT YOU CANNOT CUDDLE IT, AND IT IS STILL COMFORTINGLY COSY WHEN MORNING COMES. BETTER THAN AN ELECTRIC BLANKET, A HOT WATER BOTTLE OF A WHEAT BAG. I SHALL GIVE MORE AWAY FOR XMAS THIS YEAR. NEED TO GO TO PEOPLE THAT WILL NOT REQUIRE POSTAGE THOUGH AS FAIRLY WEIGHTY.

I bought this for my 90 year old mother, who is rather wobbly filling a conventional HWB. Lavender ones apparently explode, gel ones leak hot goo, so this seemed the safest option. It's easy for her to heat it in the microwave for 7 mins and it stays warm all night, a real bonus for her. Yes it's hard, but so were the stone hot water bottles of her youth. She loves it and calls it Jock, from its tartan cover. An excellent product for the job.

I bought one of these for my daughter as she was so cold at Uni. Tested it first and loved it so much I kept it and bought 2 more, one for my daughter and one for my Mum. She loves it so much she has bought 2 more for my brothers. So quick and easy to do and stays warm for up to 12 hours. Great to have in the car on a long journey in the winter. Having MS I heat it up in the morning and use it for my legs during the day.

I have one that I use when I have abdominal pain, and I bought another for my disabled and always-cold father. It is too hard to be "cuddly" (my father calls his his "hot rock"), but six minutes in the microwave provides 8-10 hours of warmth. Just great. I also use mine to warm the bed when my husband is away, and with only 3-4 minutes in the microwave I sit a bowl of dough on it to prove.
