This is the first Disgaea game I have played and so far I am loving it. I'm about 8 hours into the game and get the feeling that I have yet to scratch the surface on the amount of content. The game is a strategic RPG where you place your heros on a battle field and take turns to deal ridiculous amounts of damage to one another all set in a demon underworld with hundreds of netherworlds that are being taken over by the antagonist Void Dark. The game play itself is straightforward enough although the tutorials aren't always as obvious as they could be. I have found myself googling certain things. The amount of things that can be customised in this game is ridiculous; Characters, skills, items,weapons and squads can all be levelled up, some to level 9999! The shops can be levelled up, you can change some of the rules in the game at a goverment style voting hall (and if you don't get your way you can fight for the vote to go in your favour! Or just bribe them!). You can make your own levels and comete against onlilne submitted levels. This is all things I have experienced in the game so far and as I said I doubt I have got anywhere near all the features yet!ProsVibrent colourful graphicsHundreds of hours of gameplayLots and lots of voice actingFully animated cutscenesSilly humourConsFairly simple graphics (although it has a great art style)Not the best tutorialsPossible overwhelming amount of things to doI wouldn't say any of the Cons are a big issue in my opinion. For me this is easily a 5 star game but I wwouldn't be surprised if it wasn't for some. The best thing to do if in any doubt is download the free demo from the Nintendo Eshop. It's basically the full game upto the end of the first act, this is itself took me 3 hours to complete, although I wasn't rushing and making sure that I spoke to all characters after each mission to see if they had anything new to say!

Disgaea 5 is a perfect fit for the Switch. It's a long game with a vast amount of content (all DLC from the PS4 release is included), but gameplay is divided into a near infinite amount of bite-sized content; ideal for on-the-go gaming! However, if 2D strategy RPGs with a very Japanese design are your thing, it's just as good for extended sessions with the Switch plugged into your TV.This is the 5th main game in the Disgaea series (there is a sequel to the first game with D2, and there are various platformers and a visual novel too), but there have also been plenty of other entries into the series, plus an array of similar titles (La Pucelle, Phantom Brave, Soul Nomad, Makai Kingdom etc).If you have played any of these games, the setup in Disgaea 5 is largely similar, with a few updates and idiosyncrasies of its own.Disgaea 5 can feel a little overwhelming at first, especially for a newcomer. There are lots of stats, character types, and strategic options to be aware of in battles. Fortunately, everything is explained well and can be revisited. Progression opens up more options, shop types, gameplay styles. Eventually, you'll unlock the Item World, which let's you enter deep dungeons that are held within each item you can gather.Soon enough, that 9999th level doesn't seem quite so unattainable!Disgaea 5 was excellent on PS4, but the portability of the Switch version gives us the ideal update!

Disgaea 5 or just the Disgaea series in general is something I've never played before but since this was coming out to the Switch, I figured I'd give it a try and turns out I'm really liking it a lot!I received it two days before the official release so that's pretty nice of Amazon. The reversible cover looks much nicer than the main one, with many more characters on the cover.Moving on, in terms of gameplay it's absolutely fantastic (traditional J-RPG with tons of crazy awesome characters to use and choose from) and visually spectacular too. If there's anything I'd complain about is that it has too many text boxes to the point I just skip them because they take far too long and I just want to play it which is the point of video games,after all. Yes, I realise I'm missing out on the dialogue but this game (and Puyo Puyo Tetris) really take too long to get to the actual game so the skip feature becomes very useful.The game is dubbed in English and Japanese and the text's in English.If you're unsure about getting this game, try the demo on the eShop.P.S. While playing it, on my Switch it oddly closed itself and took me back to the Switch's dashboard but hopefully this never happens again as it's very inconvenient.

If you love games like FIRE EMBLEM and SUPER MARIO + RABBIDS KINGDOM BATTLE then you will love this. It's a JRPG Strategy Battle type game similar to those games (Or those games are similar to the Disgaea franchise). This game has you controlling a likeable team of beautiful demon characters who have to save a planetary system from an evil force led by a character called VOID DARK. I've been playing this non-stop and it's my first foray into the DISGAEA franchise. It is surprisingly intense as you have so many things you can alter and power up.What I loved about this DISGAEA 5 COMPLETE pack for SWITCH is that you get some nice bonuses for purchasing this at the start of the game: 1000000 tospend on stuff in the various lovely shops and you get a bunch of powerful characters too as an added bonus along with some other amazing extras. This is well worth the asking price and will keep you glued for a long, long time!!!! While the stories are ridiculous and the situations stark raving mad, the characters and their performances are likeable and will keep you coming back for more.I highly recommend this to any gamer who likes JRPGs and Battle Strategy games.

I thought I would take a shot at this game as I wanted a RPG for my Nintendo Switch and I haven’t played a turned based RPG in ages which is nice. I love the graphics and humour of characters in the game. Love the fact you can do quests, recruit more people to your team, customise them. I bought this game at Argos for under £30. I am only 4 hours in and my characters are all level 4 apart from the prinnys. At the moment I keep playing the same stage to be ready for the next stage as I don’t like going anywhere if I am under levelled.I know I still have a long long way to go through this game and a lot of grinding and levelling up to do but I adore this game and can’t stop playing it.

This is my first look at the world of Disgaea at first I didn't have a clue what was going on but I'd paid for the game so I stuck with it fast forward 6hrs and I'm hooked I find my self saying I'll play for an hour ..... 3 hours later and I'm still playing. The games not for a younger audience I think the 12yr age restriction well deserved bit of bad language in it but just now and then. The bottom line is if you read a couple or reviews on Google and like the loom of it I'd say jump in the game has loads of content it includes all the downloadable stuff I can see myself playing this for a very long time. I hope my rambling helped

It would be unfair for me to write a real review for this after only 6 hours of game play, but mannn is this a lot of bang for your buck. Being new to the Disgea franchise I hadn't anticipated the mountain I'll have to climb to fully experience all this game has to offer, but I'm willing to fully embrace itIf you are a need a new hobby after Breath of the Wild this is the game for you. Also the reversible cover was a nice surprise.

Newcomer to disgaea series here. Haven't gone far in the game but so far so good. Not for people who want serious stories, but the gameplay is serious though. Quite a lot of things to wrap your head around you might struggle if you are completely new to this kind of genre. I enjoy the unique and humour of the game (such as ability to level up to 9999).

Brilliant game! This is my first Disgaea game and I'm pleased to say I wasn't disappointed. So much to do without getting bored. The characters and story were both enjoyable. I'm not even a fraction of the way through and I've played over 30 hours.I would recommend this greatly!

Best entry in the series so far, with a lot of quality of life changes and added portability bonus due to the Switch!The game's incredibly deep but at the same time easy to pick up and play if you just want to clear the main story.Definitely one of this console's best titles.

A fantastic game for any fan of the Disgaea series.The music is a little annoying but that is to be expected, this is the only downside to the game though.The gameplay is slick and the graphics have a nice style to them. This game will keep you busy for HOURS on end.

Fantastic game..if you're a fan of turn based strategy game then this is the best you can get on Nintendo Switch.. the post game also has an absurdly amount of content so it will keep you attention for a very long time

loved 3rd and 4th game but the main character acts to serious compared to the silly personalities of the last two..gameplay is same old same old so skipped tutorialit has in game trophies :D

One of my favourite games of all time.The story is meh but this is a game about abusing systems to become powerful so it's not such an issue. Perfect for killing time when travelling!

This is my first Disgaea game, totally bonkers but a lot of fun. The game will last you a long time as well, lots of content and worth the money.
