I've been using programmable radiator thermostats for a while but on a fairly basic system where updating the programme on the thermostat was a bit of a pain.The Devolo system is really easy to set up and you can control the heating from your computer or phone. You need a computer to create programmes but the phone will give you quick access for adjustments. The phone app and web interface are pretty clear and easy to use.Because this was an EU plug I had the annoying job of installing a 'schuko' type mains socket in our house as adaptors for these two pin plugs are very wobbly. But apart from that it was very easy and fuss-free. I could not find a UK plug version for a similar price,you had to buy an expensive starter kit including stuff I didn't want.Luckily we have a router in a suitable location so I just fitted this alongside. Otherwise you might need to run an ethernet cable from your router to somewhere central in the house for this controller.The Devolo Radiator Thermostat is good quality, my previous ones were inclined to fail after a while because of cheap construction, and gives good control. It seems to be able to 'bleed' just enough hot water into the radiator to top up the temperature if it's close to the target, so our radiators are no longer red hot or stone cold.There's no offset on the temperature so you have to find the ideal temperature setting for each location. At the moment the 23 deg setting seems to be giving us a comfortable temperature. That sounds high but with the device mounted so close to the radiator it will be warmer than the rest of the room.
