I purchased this camera mount for a very specific purpose: to attach a Kodak Playsport camera to a 350cc quad bike! As part of a "Stag Day" I organised for my brother-in-law I had arranged a quad biking activity for the morning of the day. I knew I'd have difficulty finding a static location for filming as the quad biking route was through a forest so I thought it would be more interesting if a camera was mounted on one of the quads - the last quad of seven with camera facing forwards.I'd had the opportunity to look at the quads previously and decided that it would be possible to mount the camera on the fibre glass fairing IF the suction mount was good enough. After some research on Amazon and eBay I went with the Gecko as it seemed to have the most effective suction cup.As a "just in case" measure I also attached a chain to the Gecko which I affixed to the Quad bike bull bar. If the suction cup failed the theory was that I wouldn't lose the camera, the mount and, most importantly, the memory card!I "field tested" the mount on my little Suzuki 4 x 4 and it worked well. Then came the day of the quad biking event...Due to a shoulder injury I couldn't participate in the "quading" myself so I attached the camera to the quad bike driven by a friend. I pressed "record" and hoped for the best!Despite constant vibration from the terrain and engine vibration the mount held firm for the entire event (over an hour). The resulting 35 minute footage (I think it stopped due to file size) proved to be pretty good. A bit wobbly but perfectly watchable. If I were to do something like this again the only change I would make would be to remove the mount extender as I suspect this may have amplified the vibration effect. An excellent piece of kit which will provide me with some interesting options for filming in the future.

I use this nifty little camera mount in my car with a Kodak ZX1 HD camera.I attached it the day it arrived, attached my camera to it and it's been there now for three and a half months taking HD video on every car journey I've ever made. Hopefully the video files will never be needed because all the idiots on the roads today will stay well away from me. And as for suicidal pedestrians and their mp3 players....Living out in the sticks using roads that haven't had pot-holes repaired in what seems like years, it gets a lot of mechanical vibration. Not once has it come loose or moved from the position I locked it in. I wish everything in life was this dependable! My exhaust wasn't.My camera does NOT have image-stabilisation,so every bump and hole (buried-bumps as my nephew calls them) is passed through the car, the camera mount and into the camera. Despite this the video is superb and would delight any traffic cop and/or insurance investigator. The only negative thing I can say about this mount is that it isn't exactly pretty, but then neither am I. It looks the business, it inspires confidence that it will do the job you want it to do, and happily it does just that!At the moment it is cheaper to buy a excellent-quality mount like this and a cheap-ish HD camera with a standard tripod mount than a made-for-purpose car camera with GPS and G-Sensor logging. This way you can easily take the camera with you when you leave the car. My partner has the purpose made kit and prefers it, but me, I'm more than happy with this.

I ordered one of these from Amazon, arrived in 2 days in perfect condition.I wanted this device for attachment to the front drivers window, in order to attach my point and shoot Kodak digital camera so that I could video through the windscreen of my car whilst driving. With the extension included in the pack, the camera can easily be positioned facing forward in a way that does not restrict my vision and clears the front pilar. It is quick to attach to the window and stays there for hours without falling off. It is easily removed and can be adjusted so that the camera is in exactly the right position and within easy reach to both see through the camera screen and to start and stop the video. The results are very good, day and night, when I will leave the video on for whole journies of an hour or more. This set-up using a digital camera is better than using an action cam which I have tried with disappointing results. This product sticks well to glass, but not so well to the smooth plastic on the dash, where it fell off after 5 minutes when I first tried it on that surface, not tried it on any other surface, so can't comment.A well made product that deserves 5 stars, price is reasonable too.

My first impression of the Fat Gecko mini mount, as I removed it from the packaging is that it isn't actually all that "mini". It is a fairly substantial suction mount that is both bigger and heavier than many compact cameras that may be used with it.Being a substantial suction mount isn't a bad thing though if you are going to be using it where it will be subjected to heavy vibration and jolts because it certainly holds on very well. So much so that it needs a fair pull to release it from a glass surface even when you want it to come off.The Fat Gecko is a mixture of solid plastic and metal contruction and not in the slightest bit flimsy. The ball head being almost entirely metal. The screw mount is a bit long so you may well need to turn the adjuster to take up the excess. Some form of quick release plate would be an advantage for easily removing the camera to either view recorded footage or even use it off the mount while leaving the mount in place but maybe that would also compromise the secure camera to mount fit.I'm certainly not disappointed. Maybe there is room in the Delkin range for a "micro" as well as a mini mount.

I was a bit concerned that this mount would not be very good when mounted on a motorcycle considering the wind drag and vibrations when driving, however I was delighted to see it was perfect when I tried it on a CBR 1000RR.As long as you make sure there is no dirt particles whatsoever when you attach the suction cup, it will hold pretty much anything. I have tried it with a Kodak ZX5 and a Nikon S9300 (which is quite a heavy compact camera) and I am amazed by the quality of the videos. You can hardly see any movement on the camera at high speed (as long as you properly lock the camera of course). Also the built quality of the mount is very high and will allow filming in many angles very easilywithout having to carry a tool box with you (unlike regular tank mount that require screws directly on the fuel tank ).I definitely recommend this item!

If you find this review helpful ... please click the little "yes" box below. This is a well made, solid mount. I bought this instead of the Drift suction mount because a lot of the reviews I read seemed to imply that they were pretty close to identical, and the Fat Gecko version came with an extender. I'm glad that I picked this over the Drift, because I have used the extender several times. It's particularly useful when attaching the mount to my car windscreen. Without the extender, I wouldn't be able to attach a camera because the slope of the screen us too steep.I've used the mount on my motorcycle (Kawasaki Ninja) and found that it sticks great to the tank and the fairings. Really, REALLY solid.I doubt very much that this will come off once firmly attached.

I used this to capture in car video on a recent trip to Europe. First Impression this is a well made piece of kit and very sturdy and that is still my impression.I used it in combination with a Canon compact camera. When driving the camera appeared to be Bouncing a lot and wondered what the resulting video would look like, well it was fine. It was the car that was bouncing and the Gecko was taking out the shakes and the smaller bumps keeping the camera relatively still.Only draw back we found was there is no quick release for the camera. Every time you want to remove the camera you have to unscrew it from the mount and we were in and out of the car a lot, this became a pain.

I bought this with trepidation wanting to video the drives around the Algarve in a hire car. I fully expected it to either not fit, or keep falling off the screen. It did neither, in fact it stuck like a sucker fish to a shark. You have to attach it properly though, press it hard then lever across if you dont it wont attach at all and will come straight off. The extension is a marvel, without that I couldn't have attached the video camera. You have to take it apart to fit the extension and then it looks like it wont fit, but do the allen bolt up tightly and it pulls together over the ball socket snugly.Excellent piece of kit for the film anywhere people!

I love this. Having wasted money on a cheap suction mount that wouldn’t even hold itself to a windscreen let alone a small camera, this Delkin is amazing and definitely worth the money, a true case of you get what you pay for. It’s sturdy, adaptable with the little leg extension (although that’s a little fiddly to fit, requiring an Allen key which they do at least provide). Mainly though, the suction is very strong and this thing has held a Sony AX53 camcorder with extra-large battery onto a vertical window in a boat that vibrates due to the engine, with no sign of it wanting to fall off. Very good.

I've used this mount now for about 2 weeks or so and however i've tried when stuck to the windscreen of my Ford Focus ST170 i can't get the top of the suction part out of the bottom of the video, the camcorder i use is the Panasonic TM 900.Also i feel if it wasn't for the superb video quality the picture wouldn't look very good on a cheaper camcorder because of the vibration coming through the mount where it's not tight to the screen. It is well secured so no fear of the camcorder failing off.I have video of the mount on the screen and in car footage on youtube channel PDSVIDEO1966.

I recently purchased this one for my DRIFT HD camera & have used it (so far, only on glass) a few times now. Glad to confirm this one is the best suction mount I have ever used. The moment you put this onto its place, you straight away realise its suction strength. This one is not gonna let you down.Pros:1. Build quality2. Suction strength3. Tons of adjustment for the perfect angle in any situation possible3. Price (I paid £27 with delivery)4. Comes with an Add on & an Allan keyCons:1. None whatsoever.Really really pleased with this product. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

At present I am using the extension arm on my car windscreen. There is some camera shake with it attached on my Canon Vixia when I go over repaired surfaces on the road. I drive a small car and I am sure there would be less vibration on a larger car. The suction cap attaches well to the windscreen, and is easily taken off. I use a small screwdriver to give it a small prise off which works fine and does not damage it. A excellent buy for the price and well made. Next time I use it I will try fitting it without the extension arm.

Great for sticking to flat painted surfaces - eg the petrol tank and parts of the fairing. Not good if the surface is too curved, and doesn't stick to my Givi top box which is unpainted moulded plastic. Probably not a bad thing as it would no doubt transmit too much vibration there anyway, but I would have liked to try it there. If they did a version with a smaller suction cup that might work just as well and give more placement options in my opinion. Other than that, extremely sturdy and reliable once positioned safely.

I purchased this to be able to film when I'm on holiday, so I can show others what the country lanes round Somerset (well Cheddar Gorge really) are like to drive down, (a picture just can't do it justice!)I bought it for mounting to the windscreen, but tried it on the front wing of my car, its brilliant, wonder if Top Gear use these for their filming, it is solid as a rock on the car. I was a bit wary of attaching an expensive camera outside the car, I needn't have worried.Roll on June for the holiday!!!

bought this to supplement a sticky pad mount that was bought with my video camera. The sticky pad mount failed, but this one didnt. It was generaly sturdier and gives much more flexibility in terms of mount locations. The only downside was that the mount struggled to retain position when using the extension with a sports-cam on the end of a snowboard. Perhaps it wasnt able to handle the extra leverage. The mount may well support OK in less extreme situations.that said, in general use, it's pretty good.
