I Have to say going into this game I was very hesitant having played World Of Warcraft for many years and recently gave it up as was always sat at the PC and often uncomfortable and feeling unsocial with my family.I decided to give this game a go based on the fact that it was available on the PS3 and thus meaning that I could sit comfortably in my armchair while still in the company of my fiancee and not be absent from the warmth of the living room. Not to mention repeatative caprol tunnel in wrists from trying to position wrists using a mouse and a keyboard. The Download from PSN for free sealed the deal and after a lengthy lengthy install of game process for which i had to leave the PS3 onone night to get it to 50% until I realised that you can turn the system off at anytime you like and upon switching back on and reloading the save file it will automatically resume install of game and patch content from the point it was last at.One tip i will give is that as a free to play member you will have slightly limited options such as not able to recieve items in the in game mail, limited character creation slots and bank/inventory slots.. However as soon as you purchase any of the DLC off playstation network you instantly get upgraded to the Premium member status which grants you more character slots, access to items through the mail and more inventory etc slots. AND!!! you will not have to pay a subscription..Thats right NO Subscription! Subscription is only for the Legendary status which basically gives you it all and free dlc but personally Im sticking with Premium and just individually purchasing the things i want as i want them..Thats right you can upgrade virtually every aspect you want.. want more charter slots.. buy it.. want more inventory slots.. buy it! and never have a monthly subscription.Gameplay -On playing the game via the ps3 controller I was immediatly happy at hw fluid and easy to use the controls are.. Triangle is weapon attack ie Long range attacks and Square fist, close range, weapon attacks.. As you level up you aquire skills and moves that are accessed by a simple hold of the R2 or L2 button while you press one of the face buttons from X to Circle. each button unleashing a mighty attack. The first level runs like a training mode and is pretty much you on your own able to run the training mode so to speak at your own pace till you face a easy guardian and are then entered into the online universe with other players..Wethere you a PVP or PVE style player each has its own rewards howver I have found that PVE allows you to play the game and enjoy it without having to get stressed about being attacked by enemy forces each mission. All in all this game is a must or MMORPG fans as it gives you the fun of a MMORPG with the comfort of being able to relax in the confort of your livingroom/bedroom.. All you need is a internet connection and away you go and unless the free to play is ever recended then you have a free quality game for life.

hi, and sorry for my englishI'm a seasoned (in all senses... ) MMorpg PC player (eve, wow, gw ... ryzon...), that because until now MMO are the a "pc domain only".DCUO opens a little revolution porting a MMO to the console (the last experiment was FF on the PS2) and I personally was skeptical about game mechanics, thinking as "no brainer", "zero depth for kids" and so on, well in fact it is a no brain (we cant even compare the "serious" EvE to this one) but I admit is the most funny MMO I ever tryied,Action is immediate: you can fly thru the amazing skyline of metropolis and gotham (for now), or just you can run like Flash ... missions are funny and not so boring as in WoW,during mission -or whatever you are doing- you can be attacked by the other side (villains vs heroes) and for the first time I experienced the level is not so relevant for the duel and you can have a lot of fun by enjoin someone of your faction helping you without advice, and also break a double-level player. The gamepad is all you need, except for the chat which needs a keyboard, but voice chat is supported, there are a lot of shortcuts for actions ("salute") and sentences ("say bye..") thru the d-pad which are all you need in my opinion, also a lot of attacks requires combos so I cant understand how is possible to play with the PC (combos a la Tekken with a keyboard? bah...)In short you can enjoy a casual gaming (not requiring to level up to the death), exploring the city for prizes from the first day, lot of fun, gorgeous graphic, sometime frustrating and a bit exciting (for example when the opposite faction decide to "camp" some place), never "grind until you die" a' la WoW, I personally think is a winner idea for a console MMO.I strongly recommend you the PvP server: is the same as the PvE server (ie: missions) but spiced up with the faction warfare, if someone defeat you there is not heavy penalties: just you restart in the same area after a few seconds, no heavy losses or loot, I played the beta on the PvE server (now called "For All Seasons") but I must admit the PvP server ("CrossFire") is more funny and "twisted".I dont care about "pay-to-play" whiners, ANY mmo on this world need money for servers, customer care, upgrades and so on (yep, also these "free but with micro-transactions" like Lord of the Rings Online in the long run costs more than a montly fee), I think nine pounds/month worth the lot of fun you can have in a virtual world populated with real people, and if you are not happy just stop the renewal (the game comes with 30 days free)Seriously, get a try, hardly you will be disappointed

Firstly as the title states this is a MMO game and there IS a monthly subscription. If you don't want to pay for it don't buy it...Simples.DC Universe is the first MMO game to grace the PS3 & I for one was excited by that as I've always fancied the idea but never had the PC to cope with one. The concept of a monthly subscription is one well known to PC gamers but not so much console gamers...hence the moaning but as I said above you dont have to buy the game if its not your bag.Anyway to the game...ITS HUGE! Ok there is a lengthy set up process depending on your connection. It took me about 2 hours or so just to get to the point where I was ready to roll my character. The process of 'rolling'my hero took me 40 mins simply due to the options available i.e. Hero of Villain, Speed, acrobatics or flight, powers, weapons, skin type, clothing etc etc etc etc. Then when you are done choose a name and away you go!Did I mention the game is huge....well it is HUGE. So much to do, so many places to visit, people to meet etc. I admit to being hopelessly lost & clueless the first few hours I played but once i got into it & started levelling up it all fell into place. You can join a PVE server (do the missions & fight just enemies) or a PVP server (the missions, fight other players as well as enemies). The earlier missions are fairly straight forward but as you progress you will almost certainly need to hook up with a few more players as it does get tougher to beat the bosses. Having not played anything like this before the only thing I can lien it to is the original Crackdown game on the 360 except bigger better & populated with loads and loads of other players. There is plenty here to keep you busy for a long long time & with the continued updates from SOE its well worth the (continued) admission price in my opinion. Which brings me nicely to my final point. You can pay for your subscription from your PSN wallet if you dont have a credit card & if you dont want to pay every month you can turn off the 'automatic payment' option under your account settings & when you want to play again i.e. you have a month with a lot of game time due or the cash to play then make a payment.

ok this is a freaking pay to play game please don't be disheartened to hear that, i think personally £10's a month is fair in my mind you get so much for just a small asking price as fee to enjoy a nerdy universe that has so much content to offer and you get to create 16 chatacters if you desire. there are 6 mentors joker, batman, lex luthor, superman, wonderwoman and the arch nemesis of wonderwoman (im not so much a geek to know and name all dc chars) EACH HAS A DIFFERENT game experience say if you chose superman as mentor you'd start off smacking around gorilla grodds apes in an attempt to thwart him,lex makes you mutate univeristy kids into horrible leeches and joker well he orders you to help out a local mafia the falconies or somethingJUST AS AN EXAMPLE OF FIRST LEVELS its differentthere's pvp not had to pleasure to join in yet im still a noob 4 servers to login into 2 pvp and 2 pve i really don't see the difference as pve allows you to attack players if they have settings set to pvp NOT MANY PEOPLE ONLINE as servers say the population is low most of the timeoh and about invisible enemies? no such thing from what i've seen this game uses an excessive amount of internet data and as a result my broadband provider caps my connections (2nd day in a row) and 2nd day playing )= playing and about 4pm the time that they do bottleneck your internet speed... jesus you fly into an area and it takes a while to load if you die you don't know it till 5 minutes after this is the true joke of this game not that its dc universes fault or nothingYES I DID READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE ORDERING great game can't wait until final fantasy online comes to the playstation 3 this game (dc universe) has made me a mmo enthuisist

I had read the reviews that complained about download time for the game so thought I would get around that by buying a physical copy for myself and a friend despite it being free on the PSN store (Also the other copy was a gift and it is hard to wrap a free download). No such luck! we both have pretty solid broadband connections and still and to endure a huge update and download. His took 17 hours. Mine is currently a work in progress, and doesn't look like it'll be far behind that!Once this is complete though it is a fun game. There are a lot of the animated series voice actors working on this (Mark Hamill's joker, and Kevin Conroy's batman for example) and a huge game world to complete missions or just mess about in and explore.the powers also translate well from PC to console using the shoulder buttons to quick select your powers, as you normally would with the F or number keys on a keyboard. That's not to say it's perfect. there are three power sets that are only available with the purchase of DLC, but give no indication of this in the character selection, and I also ran into instances of other players waiting in mission critical areas to ambush and bully other players. Also if you're sticking to the free to play version you'll find your inventory quickly becoming full, forcing you into pretty tight item management. But these criticisms are a pretty common occurrence with a lot of on-line games, and personally I thought the latter two added to the challenge. So consider yourself pre-warned. but if those don't put you off, and you have the patience for the download give it a try. What do you have to lose when it's free to download and play.

First off, anyone to complain about '9.99 subscription fee' Have never had the privaledge to play this sort from a PC. This is the first of its kind on the console. It's a model already tried and tested, AKA City of heroes/Villains, Champions Online etc. Nothing much has changed, other than the fact, real existing comic heroes (Superman, batman)You choose a side, Hero or Villain, the customization to begin with is quite limited, but the further you play into the game, the more you unlock, thus letting you to create in time, your perfect hero. I have no doubt, new console gamers to this type of game, will have endless fun, for those played a subscription game before.. Maybe not.Graphics are pretty cartoony,as you would expect, it's DC. Story is a bit.. on and off (Opening cinematic is fantastic)Question most people would ask, are you getting your moneys worth with 9.99 a month on top of it's retail price? Probably not.. But as with any MMO, it will always be updated, new content will be shown, you just have to hope it won't be like other DLC, where you have to pay it, as you're paying subcription already, it should count with that money, fingers crossed.Overall if you like DC, or the idea of creating your hero and fighting along side thousands online, give it a go (You get a month FREE if it's a brand new copy.. Odds on a month is all you need for most)Might not be your thing if you've played City of heroes, or champions online... It's a all too familiar model.

But that is fairly obvious.. It is an MMO and obviously a game of this caliber is going to ask for a monthly subscription fee, however at [...] that is a very good price- it is how the majority of MMOs monthly subscription cost.. Not to mention you get one month free.Anyway, after playing the game after an hour you can see it has typical characteristics of a casual mmo- however, you can also see how well the game is made and how much blood, sweat and effort they put into it. The graphics are actually quite good- not really expected in an MMO but I was suprised. I would give the graphics 9/10 for its graphics. The combat system is just button mashing but as you develop it turns into a more complex and tactial way of approaching things- E.g with a rifle you try to distance yourself from the enemy so you backflip backwards to avoid melee. There is a huge range of weapons from guns to hand blasts (More or less Kamehameha's) however the abilities are quite limited, ice, fire, gadgets, nature and I think magic. Not a large variety but yeah, don't expect to falcon pawnch like Super Man. The costume selection at the start is actually alot more indepth than you'd expect, being able to change skin, capes, bags etc. There are missions, raids and PvP just like other MMOs.Overall.. this game is sexy. Buy it- play it- and add me if you want, my PSN ID is Blazebreakerz

AS a DC Fan, I love this game, it puts you definetly inside the DC universe with huge maps as Metropolis, Gothem, Arkham asylum, the WATCH TOWER! its great! and at the same time you create your own personal hero! the only bad thing is you dont get to cutomize entirely the character body and face, they are like predifined faces or body shapes... it would have been nice to actually control more parameters. Also although you have Big city maps where you can fly and fight theres no or little interaction with cars, pedestrians and buildings. It would be nice to have a more kind of GTA universe on It! even if its online, the tag on / team idea is still not working very well and more world interaction would be nice, the good thing is that it being online some things can be changed while the game is on!Definetly a buy for DC fans! the only other bad thing is that it requieres a monthly fee... so for them to have clients they definetly need to create constant challenges otherwise it will become a one month trial game.thanks

Let's get this straight - I'm not a big gamer. My only MMORG experience before was with WOW - a game from which DC Universe has clearly learnt a lot. Overall I've found it to be a very accessible and entertaining game and if you're a fan of DC an essential experience. The simple thrill of flying over Metropolis, discovering the Bat-Signal, or fighting alonside one of the plethora of heroes is excellent. The game is not without some flaws. The camera system isn't perfect and, yes, you do have to keep paying. Being online it means some lengthy updates (why does this only happen when you really want to play?)But overall the quality of the graphics and the ease of the interface compensate for the flaws. It's not as good as Arkham Asylum (what is?),so if you go in with those expectations you will be let down. However if your looking for a fun online game experience that allows you to play out your superhero fantasies this is for you.

Got this game delivered the day after release even though it was pre-ordered, Amazon refunded the delivery charge. Two things1. I never realised about this game is that it takes up nearly 26gig of hard disk space so make sure you have enough room, I didn't.2. Only purchase if you have a HDTV, I got this like every other PS3 game to discover trying to play it on my standard TV it's impossible, this is the only PS3 game I have seen in nearly 4 years where you have to have a HDTV, the text, chat and information boxes and writing is just that small it can't be read, even with your nose against the TV. Fortunately we actually had a HDTV on order. This is a common problem and is actually well documented on the net, problem is you just dont look for it until you have the problem yourself. The game itself is great, constant updates are released due to some small bugs, but loads of fun :)

I've been looking out for this game for a long time. I've been in the beta, that worried me because of the bugs.. But still, i wanted this game. Now that i have it, i have almost fully leveled 2 characters within the 30 days free subscription. Now i am not sure if i am going to buy a new sub, because of this en because there are new games coming soon (killzone 3, bulletstorm, TDU2, etc.). So i'm confident that i will buy a new sub eventually, but not right now.I really like this game, but you're at the cap of your level soon. When level 30 you can do instances and alerts to ge the best gear. When you have that you can hunt some heroes or villains depending on your side. If you want to continue at your level 30,i recommend you start on a pvp server. It seems that there are the more devoted players.

When the game first came out little over an year ago, I opted to wait until the game would turn free to play. My expectations were quite high for this game; I've read a few articles, saw lots of video reviews and now that I have the game, I must say it's quite awsome. For a MMORPG kind of game is an entertaning game and if you are (or were) a DC Comics follower, the possibility to play in this world becomes very exciting. Nonetheless there are some aspects of this game that are not so nice, like the chat, some missions and instances that are quite difficult to do as a certain class and/or weapon type.Anyway, overall,it's a very interesting game and I see myself playing this game for quite a awhile.

I played the beta so I already know how amazing this game is. It is a great game and the best of its kind in my opinion. The best action mmo and the best super hero/villain mmo around. The game is an mmo, so it requires monthly fees, but it comes with a month free so I would suggest that everyone gives it a go to see if it is their cup of tea.5/5, amzing game.

This game is great. If your the type who likes world of warcraft give this a shot as it may be familiar to you. Inside of the game is very addictive as you complete quests and get rewards. You build up your characters power and skills throughout and creating your character is a great feauture which you can always come back to throughout.Overall great game 9/10
