This is a difficult review to write, as I had some problems with using these headphones with my PC and I can't say 100% whether it is down to an incompatibility with the computer's sound card or a problem that perhaps the headphones' software driver should have sorted out itself.I'll start with the basics - used as an ordinary set of headphones with the 3.5mm jack connection these are near faultless. The sound is great, they are comfortable and they look good. On the downside, the colour changing illuminated side panels that are such a big feature of the USB connection do not operate at all on the 3.5 jack - you can't even program them to do so using the software download "control panel" from their website.Disappointment number 2 is that the volume wheel only works on the USB connection too, so on the 3.5mm jack connection it's useless.I know that this is something more than a basic set of headphones, and I'm being as fair as I can here. I am a gamer, but on Xbox not PC, so what I did want these headphones for was listening to my PC's music player. But I wanted to test the other features, so I downloaded the 94MB software package. This looked good to me as it allowed me to change various sound settings and change the illumination on the side panels to any colour I like, a colour cycle or pulse in time with the music. I tried the microphone and the voice altering settings that allow you to sound like an alien, dwarf, robot and so on. Good fun, but the problem was that even after restarting and doing the suggested updates I could not get any music to come out of the headphones instead of the monitor's speaker. This is where I have to explain that I do know a slight bit about computer settings and honestly tried everything I could think of to try and get it to work. The connection was there, as I could run test tones through the headphones from various PC property settings, but in the end I came to the conclusion (perhaps rightly or wrongly) that the computer's sound card was simply against the idea. Strangely, an older wireless model of Creative headphones I have still works absolutely fine, and perhaps that's telling, or perhaps not.Perhaps now you can see why I said it's a difficult review to write, especially as I really do want to be fair to this product. As far as the review score goes, I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt but also because I don't like that the two features I mentioned earlier don't work on the 3.5 jack, I'm going to take a star off for that, as surely you should be able to use the headphones the way you wish to and not be disadvantaged by features that simply stop working once you take the phones off the USB cable. After over three hours of testing, changing settings, restarting, I disabled the PC's sound card completely by going deeper into settings I really shouldn't be messing with, restarted (naturally), and finally managed to get music coming out of the headphones. I thought I had success, but it interfered something nasty with iTunes and kept freezing it up. Eventually it crashed altogether, and I considered myself lucky the crash didn't corrupt anything. My computer is only a few years old, it's not ancient in PC terms.Update (a couple of days later) - It's nice to know Creative care enough to get in touch to help me solve the problem. I'm responding to their invite to contact them and will update this review when I get the issue sorted.Update (next day again) - I am up and running following sucessful advice from Creative. If interested, more details of the solution can be found in the comments section.

It's rare to find electronic products that are the whole package, but Creative have certainly succeeded here in creating a desirable package that performs. The positive expectations started with how the item was packaged. Too many boxes are hard to get into without destroying, but here, the packaging and documentation are kept to a minimal. After all these are headphones, not some audio receiver.Inside the package were the-headset with volume slider and mute button-detachable mic with boom covering (3.5 inch jack)-micro-usb to USB cable (~2 metres)Items probably only in the review sample-3.5mm north to north cable for hooking up standard devices like iPods. But extremely cheap on ebay for around £1-2.-Reviewer Documentation (Not included in retail package obviously)Note the Cable is really really good with a cloth weaving, which is malleable and thin, whilst strong and protecting the wiring well. The headset is light and comfortable. The black and red tones are very stylish without looking too gamerish. The design has the ear plates glowing a number of colours either to the pulse of music (awesome) or a choice of pulsing speeds/intensities or simply switched off. One annoyance is that setting the inactivity timer switched the lighting effects off when no sound is playing, without the ability to switch the lights back on when resuming. An oversight, but not particularly important because that un-necessary lighting uses more power I guess. The sound itself, is pretty fantastic for headphones costing this much. I recently bought some Shure 840's and these produce pretty much the same sound with a lot less weight. The bass is powerful but doesn't diminish the sound of vocals. I've tried rock, country, pop and all sound great. Counter Strike Go performed admirably too. I became aware of how good (and terrible) some of the sounds effects were. Some guns that sound alright on speakers, sound atrocious on the headset likely because of the low quality recording. No fault of the headset though as the detail of everything from guns to a person running around a corner was impressive. Creative claim it simulates 7.1 sound. No idea what that means with stereo speakers, but directional sound is very very good. These headphones are in my opinion wasted for just gaming as movies and music sound so much better.Other neat touches include the volume slider (only works on computers) and the mute button which seem to tap into the same volume OSD that MS Keyboards use. Be sure to install the Soundblaster Tactic 3D software (Not written on the normal documentation) to get the most out of this. It allows you to change the headset lighting effects and has cool voice synthesizer software to make yourself sound like a robot, alien or my particular favourite, man to woman. If this feature works with online games, I can see myself getting on many a nerve!

I managed to get a couple of hours with these headphones before my children noticed them. After that, I haven't had a look-in, but the headphones have seen heavy-duty use playing Team Fortress 2 and League of Legends. Although they're not the best headphones for listening to music, when they're used for playing games on a PC they have everything a young adult gamer could want. They plug into a USB port, and fully integrate with the PC - so when you turn the volume control on the headset, it adjusts the PC's master volume. You can change the way the sides of the headphones light up, and better, you can make the light pulse along with the soundtrack. You can use a preset to make dialogue clearer or to improve the surround-sound-like stereo effect. My daughter likes the way you can adjust your voice using the companion software - she uses the "female to male" setting, to avoid being trolled when she's playing online. My son likes the way the headphones look, the easily adjustable microphone position and the extra (thin) cable that comes with it so you can also use the headset as a hands-free for your phone (I tried this out on a Google Nexus 4, and the sound quality was very good indeed). They're chunky closed-can headphones, with a hard plastic shell that can conduct extraneous sounds. They're quite comfortable to wear - the headband is sufficiently adjustable to fit most heads. On the downside, the sound is a bit boomy, so not ideal for music (though it is great for listening to explosions!), and the thick USB cable can initially be a bit distracting until you realise you can shape it so it doesn't get in the way. You need to download the software; on my laptop, the installation froze at 71%, but when I rebooted, all the software appeared to be correctly installed. You don't need the software unless you want to change the lights or try out the fancy voice effects you can use, but it's worth having to get the most out of the headset. Fancy sounding like your avatar looks? You can with this headset! These aren't just headphones - they're a way to enhance your gaming experience. The flashing lights and the software are all part of it. I wonder if I'll ever get to see them again?

These headphones have perfect tone and you can hear even the quietest background instrumentals on music tracks with full surround sound capabilities. The supplied drivers enhance your music experience by adding tonal controls, bass adjustment, and graphic equalisers for the best sound possible and by downloading the control panel from the website, you can adjust the colours of your headphones to your favourite colour and adjust the pulsation to your own preference.Gaming wise you can adjust your voice to disguise it with several different vocal effects to add to the fun. The battery when fully charged lasts for up to 16 hours, depending on usage and volume, and you can charge the headphones from your laptop using the rather stylish red and black cable supplied, which slots into the left headset.I find the headphones although comfortable, are very heavy on my head and I have to take them off everyso often to give my neck a break! The cups on the earpieces are also very comfortable, but your ears get incredibly hot and sweaty, hence another reason for not leaving them on too long! The earpieces swivel through 90 degrees, but although well built it does seem like they could easily be over rotated and break, so I advise caution when doing this to protect the headphones from breakage. On the left headset there is a power button that switches the headphones on immediately when pressed, but this has to be held down for several seconds to turn them off. There is also a wheel volume control above the power button, which when turned pops an icon up on your screen and you can hear a beeping noise as you increase the volume, with 10 little bars that light up as volume increases, just as a handy visual as to how loud you are setting them. They are very good at eliminating background sound, although it is not totally obliterated. An excellent buy.

I love the names of these things. "Gaming should be taken more seriously!" *Wears Sound Blaster Tactic3D Rage USB headphones*Such nonsense aside, these are a very good addition to your gaming rig. Not a moment too soon for me, either. My PC is going to have to move to a room where the surround sound speakers aren't always welcome. With the games I've tried it with so far, it appears to be an excellent way of replicating the kind of sound you get from a reasonably decent set of PC speakers. Action-based games certainly benefit and quieter bits are mostly OK. Not amazing headphones for music, if I'm honest, but not terrible either.Bild quality is pretty good. They are reassuringly solid with chunky can-style.The USB wire doesn't get tangled up, which is a definite plus. You can use them with a smart phone, too. But I reckon they're a bit excessive for using out and about!Because it's USB, it connects up with your PC nicely (controls the volume from the headphones). The lights on the side are pretty too. :)The quick start manual is a little misleading when it points you to the download page, but it is easy enough to find on the Creative page. You don't actually need to download any of this stuff - indeed there is no installation disk. It sets up when you plug in to your USB. But the stuff you get from here is a nice wee bonus.

Good product, headset is very good, but wire connecting usb to headset arrived faulty and broke after a week its ok because it is just a usb to micro usb connection but nether the less its disappointing. The sound on headset to PC is fantastic crispy bass, goods mids and highs, with awesome clarity, u feel the umph, the software is very impress and works well. The mic is clear and very good at isolating your voice and blocking out background interference, with no echo. 3.5mm connection is good, i have tested with a Lumia 930, iphone 5 and mp3 player. Overall it sounded best on iphone 5, good on the other two. Although the bass, mids and highs weren't the best on the phones, the clarity was still good.Would definitely recommend this product, the 3.5mm connection is just a bonus along with the multicoloured lights, they're their and nice to have, but not the main reason you purchased the product

the 7.1 surround works beautifully, I now genuinely use them to predict enemy's locations in games. although the bass isn't the best, that want what there made for so no complaints there. they are immersive enough that you want to run from grenades just to avoid the noise! and music still sounds brilliant, i like the gimmicky software that comes with them and overall i would advise anyone to buy them if they were interested in getting gaming headsets.UPDATE: they broke 2 weeks after i got them; not best pleased!

Atheistic: It looks good, the lights are great. Build quality is good, material is average (Synthetic leather, hard plastic, Minimum metal)Sound: great (good bass)Comfort: feels OKSoftware: the program that you can use with it is very good, a lot of functionsMic: not that good really, I have to use the separate oneProblems: only works on PC. Lights + buttons don't work when plugged into normal jacks (eg phone/mp3 player), when used at high volumes people around you could listen to what you are listening to.

Fantastic headset, does require software to be downloaded to modify the colour and voice settings. However, you can just plug in and play straight away! I was playing a war simulator (ArmA III) and a sniper bullet cracked through the air and hit a tree a foot away from me. Literally made me jump! Very immersive and a great value for money. A must buy for PC Gamers!

I bought this gaming headset to play star wars the old republic on my pc and when I played it the sound effects of the blaster fire and lightsabers is awesome, it had plenty of good bass and a nice crisp sound from the higher frequencies. If I was you I would buy this headset it is the best one I could find for the money.
