I have used these headsets for Skype and other programs that require the use of a microphone with the headset. This is the 3rd pair that I have owned of his model in the last 4 years. You may ask why 3 sets? So I will give the 1 minus comment 1st. The headset is USB powered and in use for the sound and microphone, this is ideal for quality etc, however the circuitry is contained within the USB plug which makes it quite long, approximately 7 cm's project out of the USB socket when they are plugged in and this is where the problem occurs for me. I use the headset on my laptop and very often catch the lead which pulls against the wire going into the USB plug which eventually leads to a broken wire which is always on the microphone terminals inside the USB plug.So dead microphone. I have taken the plug apart on each occasion and the internal wires to the mic part of the circuit board are broken because they are too short and strained. I have sorted this problem now quite simply by making a loop in the wire to the headset and taping it to the body of the USB plug. This stops the strain on the wires and eliminates the problem. that is the only negative I have. The headset is comfortable to wear with padded ear pieces and the band over the head is also padded. The ear pieces swivel and adjust perfectly to your head, they are also adjustable for length. MIcrophone is unobtrusive and gives excellent clarity of voice. When not in use just push the flexible arm to the side. The sound quality from the headset earpieces is very good. The lead to the USB plug has a volume control and mic on/off incorporated on it, within easy reach and easy to use. Simple plug and play when attached to your computers USB port.I will further add that I have purchased cheaper sets as well but in no way do they match the quality of the Creative HS-720, no where near it in fact.Hopefully Creative will read this as well and do something to eliminate what happened to me.This aside excellent headset.Read full review...

At the top end of the budget headsets, the HS-720 is a good performer. I acquired a pair to use for work conference calls as they are increasingly being done via the Internet, e.g. via Microsoft's LiveMeeting, rather than regular phone. They are comfortable to wear for extended periods, e.g. 2-3 hours, but I don't think I could wear them for a whole day.Sound reproduction for conference and VOIP calling is very good, albeit the bass response could be lower, as this detracts from understanding what some people say, especially in international calls when non-English people are speaking English and word definition is important. There's no doubt a Windows 7 tone control somewhere that could lower the base response. The downside to USB based headsets is that the local feedback, where you hear yourself in the earpieces, is effectively unusable because of the slight delay between speaking and hearing. The feedback channel really needs to be local in the headset, but that would push the price up. I don't know if the higher end headsets provide this capability. The USB plug is nearly inches (5 cms) long, but when plugged in to a USB port on the side of my monitor, provides a useful place to hook the headset while not in use.The only other problem I've experienced, and this is not the headset's fault, but Windows 7's, is that if I disconnect the headset whilst an app has the headset channel open, the app stops, rather than continuing with the next default sound device, i.e. the speakers. All in all, a good all round headset.

CREATIVE HS-720 ChatMax USB Headphone Review:After a few months' of use, the headband snapped on the microphone side at the lowest point of the narrow section. I made two 8mm long "staples" out of thin steel wire (see photo) then used a soldering iron to melt these into the plastic to bridge the gap on the inside. (Nasty fumes - use ventilation.) I might need to repeat this on the outside if the crack propagates all the way through. However, at present, I have an almost invisible repair that seems to be holding (see photo). The USB plug is LARGE (see photo) because (presumably) it contains a Digital-to-Analogue converter circuit.GOOD: Overall, the sound quality is good but obviously not excellent. The comfort, too, is good. This is also the only pair of headphones, of several that I tested, which does NOT have a buzz on the microphone audio when I use Skype. The cable is over 2 metres in length, includes a MUTE switch and up/down digital volume buttons (and is Mac compatible).BAD: The headband has a weak point where it snaps. However, it IS repairable as described above. The USB plug is very large (like a memory stick) and measures 21mm wide by about 55mm long.

I bought these as I sometimes need to work from home but need to get to meetings in the office. I actually randomly selected them in a high street store as I needed them quite quickly. The box only lists Windows 7 but they worked out of the box with Windows 8 with no messing about.I have had no problem with them at all, everyone on the other end of a Skype call can hear me very well and the sound quality through the headset is fine too. I've had no feedback / echo issues whatsoever. The USB plug is a little long so you'll need 3 - 4 inches of clearance from your USB socket. There is a good metre of cable as well which I was impressed with. There is a volume rocker and mute switch on about a quarter of the way down the cable as well.I sometimes end up in a good few meetings and these are quite comfortable to wear for a few hours at a time. I have also used them as headphones while watching movies on my laptop as well and find the sound quality quite acceptable. It's a bit tricky to wear glasses comfortably while you have them on - that's really the only downside.I can highly recommend these as a great (high end) budget headset.

I am always a little apprehensive when ordering a headset since I need a reliable and fully functioning piece of equipment in my day to day job. However, on this occasion I have so far been pleasantly surprised with quality and reliability. The headset connected to my Mac Mini without any issues or need for complicated setup and I've been able to use them successfully with Skype and a variety of online meeting applications without issue or need for specific configuration.I find the headset comfortable to wear during what can be many and lengthy calls throughout the day, the sound is clear and of a good quality and customers and colleagues on the other end of conversations have had no issues withthe clarity of my voice.I have been using the headset successfully for more than 3 months on a daly basis, regularly carrying them between office an home office in my backpack with no obvious signs of wear or damage.I would recommend to anyone looking for a headset to use with a Mac Mini or MacBook Pro with concerns regarding compatibility.

Bought as I required a reasonable set of headphones and microphone for an online exam, and I was after something more reliable than my laptop's inbuilt microphone and speakers. These were easy to set up, in that there wasn't much to do other than plug in, and I would say they fit my averagely round head pretty well. I was able to hear clearly, and more importantly, I was able to be heard clearly at the other end. The fact that the microphone is detachable is handy for the times I just want to listen. If I were using it a little more frequently, I might want to invest in a slightly more feature rich pair, but for my needs these were very good.

I find these headphones/mic top class for online chat (Skype), I find the sound much clearer than other headphones. I have tried a number of other phones, including much more expensive ones, but found the sound much more muffled than the Creative phones. I would prefer other phones for listening to music but for talking these are way out in front. Just to put that that in perspective, I use them for chatting in Spanish with someone in Venezuela and the clarity is what is most important to me.Why 4 stars? Because the phones snapped while being carried in a suitcase, I now have them held together by builders tape! But they still work.

I bought this headset due to other types of headset breaking easily when I use them. This headset is great, it goes around the neck, seems to be pretty strong as well. The band of the headset does stretch, a little further than expected; probably would be convenient for some people. As far as quality goes, the audio output is clear and from what I'm been told from Skype friends that [the mic] is very clear and has no background noise. However, despite the visible padding on the earpieces, after prolonged use of the headset it can become uncomfortable.

I've had my headset for what I think is years now and it's easily been the best headset I've had. I'm no gamer but I use it daily for conference calls and I listen to music throughout the working day. I chuck the headset into my laptop bag and commute between home and office 250 days a year. So yes I give this 5 stars because I've never had a more comfortable headset with good sound quality and durability. I'm about to buy a new headset today because it is aging- naturally I'm buying this same headset!

I have used these for Skype, WebEx and online gaming and they have worked well. The sound quality is great for mid-sized, on-ear headphones. As a spectacle wearer I find they become uncomfortable after extended use (several hours), but this is a common problem for me with all on-ear headphones.I have used them on Windows 7 and 8.1 and in both cases it was 'plug and play' operation.Unfortunately after a few weeks they have broken due to slight outward pressure while untangling the wire.

Since I am working from home and my company installed a program that reroutes calls to my laptop instead of my mobile I needed a headset on the quick. I bought it as it was available for instant pick up and wanted to look later on for a better model, something that is not needed anymore. I wear thee headphones from 9 to 5 nearly all the time, the noise cancelling is excellent, which makes it easier for me to focus on the call, the call quality is second to none. Highly recommended

Picked up as a cheap Teamspeak headset; USB was key for this.Sound quality is great. Headphones cancel out noise quite well for a cheaper headset, and the microphone picks up incredibly clearly. The headset is fully adjustable. The microphone itself is flexible, but doesn't swivel. Not a huge problem and doesn't detract from the value. Well worth the money; the next step up from this is a full gaming headset, and you're looking paying a fair whack for a decent one.

26.9.2017

It does the job as intended for a Skype and similar use headset.Mic is clear enough and the speakers are good, wouldn't use for audiophile level music but great for chat.Useful feature is the switch on the in line control that lets you turn the mic off and has a big red LED to remind you it's turned on. Headband is a little tight in places but the adjustment struggles to stay put but overall it does the job I bought it for without me worrying about it

I have been using this Headset for gaming, watching videos, and listening to music for many years. It definitely meets all of my criteria for a headset. Recently my old headset which i had been using for 3 or so years (same as this one) has been physically damaged; I decided to replace it by purchasing it once again because it has great sound quality, and very high durability. I Definitely recommend this product.

Nice headset with decent sound quality and good noise cancelling microphone. I use it for my company zoom calls and now I can play music in the background and no-one can hear anything but my voice - which is also now in better quality.Only recommendation I would have is to make the earpieces bigger as my ears get uncomfortable after about 2 hours of wearing them on.Overall happy with the purchase
