The best salt and pepper mills I have ever used, and I am no spring chicken. I love pepper, loads of it on everything! I got sick of cheap grinders that just stopped working, so I decided to splash out a bit. Only just received this mill but I'm impressed. It looks great/professional. It's easy to pop the top off and fill, no fiddly screw caps. And most importantly it grinds, just like it says, from fine to coarse in six steps with a simple twist of the adjustment ring (the thick silver band near the bottom). Can't comment on longevity yet but fingers crossed if that's as good as the build looks.I held off buying the set, Salt Mill too, as I thought £50 was quite expensive, but I've just placed an order for one to match based on this Pepper Mill :)

I've bought the set (the salt mill too) and I must admit: I am completely utterly ecstatic about them! The Windemere is easily the most beautiful grinder in the Cole & Mason family. Their classy design and stylish materials make them a focal point in my kitchen and they certainly wouldn't look out of place in a traditional kitchen, too. They deserve to be seen and handled. And handling them is surprisingly delightful! The quality materials feel solid and weighty in your hand and the grinding is smooth and precise. The adjustment ring for choosing the texture is a clever mechanism and works brilliantly. Yes they were pricy, but absolutely worth it.

It's a great grinder, but I was quite surprised when it arrived: I was expecting it to be FULL of salt (as the picture on the website selling it indicated) but it was as shown in the picture - about a third full. I think considering it was an 'Amazon's Choice' product they should have delivered as shown. Also the lid was not actually sealed. I took it out of some bubble wrap and could lift the lid of the grinder straight off.However, it's a great grinder and this gives me a chance to fill the rest of it with some of the salt I had in that had driven me to buying this product in the first place!

I've had a Mason and Cole pepper grinder for 20 years, and the other night it finally gave up the ghost . . . not the mechanism, I would hasten to add, but the plastic housing that the shaft slides into. It was close to losing an old friend; I almost cried when it finally fell apart, scattering peppercorns into the carbonara, and with trembling fingers ordered a replacement.Fantastic.Even better than the previous model, a breeze to use, more selections on the grind fineness, a better feel in the hand. If only it were as easy to replace old friends . . .

This is a lovely mill, it feels heavy in the hands and the stainless steel is good quality. The variable grading is a nice feature, and unlike other mills I have tried, the salt crystals stay inside the mill until you actually grind them - no leakage!A bit more expensive that some other mills, but you get what you pay for and it feels like it will easily outlast any others I have tried. Very pleased with this purchase. I also have the pepper mill and they look very fine together on the worktop (the pepper one works just as well!).

Wife is a pepper perfectionist and after the Peugeot and many other experiments, this is definitely the one. The choice of different milling sizes is brilliant and the action never gets stiff. Would be five stars but for the fact that the perspex locks you unfasten to load it with peppercorns broke after being dropped on a tiled kitchen floor, which, realistically, is going to happen from time to time. But it's so much better than the others we've tried we are buying a replacement.

I love these Salt and Pepper grinders, they are great to look at and use. They make a great addition to my kitchen.I do think they are a little expensive, so I certainly hope they last well. I have had them for about a month now and can find no issues with them.As a little bonus they even came with a small amount of salt and pepper, so could be used straight away.So would I recommend or buy again, an easy yes to both. (Hopefully wont need to buy again for some years though).

Lovely little salt and pepper shaker. Easy to refill just pull the top off. Pepper shaker has more settings than the salt but both do a good selection of grind thickness. That's easy to do just twist the bottom and the grind. Nice weight too.Now to the bad part Nice item, let down by the service provided by Amazon. Items arrived in just one piece of Bubble wrap and no packaging at all. Can hardly give them as a gift like that. Poor service Amazon please do better next time.

Why did I find it so hard to find a salt mill that works well and lasts more than a couple of months? Pepper mills, no problem but salt mills... bah!Then I got this a few months ago and so far it's faultless. Perfect grind (three grades), easy to twist, rock salted, sorry, solid build (sorry) and shows every sign of lasting years.Thoroughly recommended to grind your favourite rock salt.

I love this item and should be in everyone's kitchen. The grinder has different course settings and I use the finest one. It gives finer salt than the cheaper plastic ones out there and the grinder mechanism is superior. 'It is the king of salt grinders'. I eventually bought its sister pepper grinder. very stylish looking too. Highly recommend.

Wanted something to grind the large natural salt stones we prefer. This has three size settings and does a lovely job on the big salt, even for fine grinding onto dinner plate. Only issue we've had is with the wet salts getting jammed up, but we're trying different brands of salt as I suspect any salt grinder will clog up with wet salt stones.

I've had the pepper grinder for a number of years now, and whilst the Cole & Mason logo has all but been stripped off, it has otherwise held up great cosmetically. It's a high quality piece of kit, holds plenty of peppercorns, and works as you would expect. I've just purchased the salt grinder as well and hope it will be similarly reliable!

The Cole & Mason salt and pepper grinders are the best I have ever bought - there have been many including battery powered, but non are as efficient and adjustable as these.Although initially expensive these items offer excellent VALUE FOR MONEY and I would be very happy to recommend them to anybody who is interested in these items.

Around 8 years ago I was fed up with rubbish pepper mills. I like freshly ground pepper a lot, but most pepper mills are useless.This is a great pepper mill, easily select size grounds you want by twisting the metal part at the base. Easy to refill. Never had any issues after being used daily for 8 years.Highly recommended by me.
