Bought this to slightly increase the magnification of my 100mm macro lens and it works well. Whilst I think it's quite expensive for being an extension tube (which, after all, doesn't have any glass inside), I didn't want to risk a cheaper one from Kenko or similar with my L-series lenses (in case it fell off). Also read online that many of the cheaper ones have some play in the couplings which isn't good for macro photography when focus and depth-of-field are so critical. This attaches to the camera really tightly and you can then just forget about it. It doesn't give a massive increase in magnification for a 100mm macro lens (10% only),but does allow you to connect said lens to a 1.4x or 2x extender (which otherwise you can't do).

Great - works with all my Canon compatible lenses including L and non-L. Have tried it out on a few of my best lenses (70-200 F2.8 Canon) and Sigma 1.4 50 mm Art and works really good. I used a tripod to steady any shake and the results were impressive. It is not the same as having a bespoke Macto lens but for the Macro shots I plan to take it is a good compromise. I bought this on Amazon Prime (free delivery) and paid about £59 which I thought was good. All the lens controls (autofocus and aperture priority etc) work using the converter which is a major plus. Arrived brand new and boxed with a nice leather draw string pouch and front and rear lens caps.Happy with the purchase and I would recommend to others.

You've heard the saying "You get what you pay for" well that's true with this Canon extension tube.I needed a small tube for my eos 7d and 24-105mm which would allow me to get a little closer to wild flowers and a few larger bugs, it works very well, as expected.I researched other brands of tubes and although they are considerably cheaper the quality doesn't go anywhere near matching Canon's quality, when you have a pricey camera body and a pricey lens you want to have confidence in the bit that's holding them together, no worries with this extension tube, the build quality out shines all others, worth every penny.Amazon service was first class, as usual.

I purchased this extension Tube with the express purpose of trying to convert old slides and Negatives into a digital format using my Canon 550d (The process does produce fantastic results with no grain, unlike a scanner, but I digress). The item was received well packaged without even any damage to the box. The Tube also comes with a black carry case which would easily fit a f1.8 50mm lens. The lens fits well, making good smooth contact. The auto focus mechanism works well but is not quite as fast as a prime lens alone (though for my purposes that was unnecessary). All in all it is a good product, at a good price and is a welcomed purchase.

This tube is well made. It is compatible with almost all EF and EF-S lenses. It allows you to significantly reduce the focussing distance, enabling you to take close up pictures. It is worth the money as it is of high quality construction and carries the electrical signals between camera body and lens reliably. See the following document for a detailed description.[...]Buy it and try it as the results will differ depending on which lenses you attach to which camera body. After all this is just inserting air between your lens and your camera sensor.

This extension tube does exactly does what it says it should, but it is lacking in terms of its structure, it does feel with a few of my lenses to be a bit flimsy, especially with my Canon 40mm Pancake. Another con is the price, which for paying I was expecting a near perfect piece of kit which in all things considered is just a tube with some connectors inside. I have heard the Kenko tubes are much better value for money and supposedly better than the camera brand of extension tubes.

Does what it says on the tin. I considered getting one of the cheaper non-Canon Chinese ones but taking into account the reviews and thought I'd bite the bullet and go with the extra cost of the Canon original. I have not been disappointed. It gives great macro shots. There are no problems with contacts or mechanical fixiongs (obviously) that were reported with the cheapo alternatives. It even comes with a faux-leather drawstring bag to store it in!

It is amazing what a small space can do and the Canon lens extension tube EF12 II brings a whole world of macro into focus. A fantastic piece of kit for anyone who is hooked on the small things in life. Sure it is a little over priced but it does exactly what it says on the can. Quality build and a reassuring firm feel once mounted. Highly recommended.

This is a genuine Canon extension tube, which means that it preserves all the electronic connections between the camera body and the lens. It is a solid piece of kit as would expect from Canon. You can buy cheaper extension tubes which do much the same, but if you want assured quality this is the one to go for.

Item seems well made and functions fully, its just pretty useless for getting more macro. You really need a bigger / deeper tube to enable you get close and intimate with objects. I used it on a 70-300 lens and it really only makes a small difference to the macro ability of the lens.

What a great device and having the electrical contacts so that your lens continues to do its thing is marvellous. So far I have only tried it on a prime 35mm lens and was quite taken back by the magnification and how sharp the image was. Definitely need to turn off Auto Focus.

I have a Canon 24-105 mm f/4 L IS USM Lens so get good close up photographs .This EF 12 II Extender adds quite another close up dimension while retaining all the normal camera controlls. There are cheaper versions but then all settings then have to be done manually

High quality but then it’s only a hollow tube. More importantly, the electronics between the lens and the camera work perfectly. Oddly, it comes with a Canon pouch. Of all their products this one needs the least care yet it gets a pouch and most lenses don’t. Lol.

If you own a Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L IS Macro USM then you are aware of the quality of the macro images, now add a EF 12 II & see how it improves them.I recommend that you disable the auto focus & use manual for the best results

This Canon ext.tube really is the biz. I use it mainly with my Canon 50mm lens, but as I use telephoto a lot, I tried it on that with amazing results too. Price was very good, and as always good to buy from Amazon !!
