UPDATE:The new item arrived and worked straight away without any problem. First unit must have been faulty. Still great build quality and price.I’ve upped my rating from 2 to 4 stars. Possibly 5 stars once I’ve used it some more.Original review:I wanted to like this product SO much but it didn’t work right out of the box. I was using a listed lens, the Canon 70-200mm f4 but from power on with the GH5, I received the “Lens attachment Failed” warning. (Adapter firmware up to date)The build quality looks great and the price is reasonable but that doesn’t really matter if the product doesn’t work!I’m ordering a replacement to see if it was a faulty unit.I’ll update this review accordingly depending on how the replacement works out.

AF and Aperture Work well with Tokina 14-20 f/2 on Lumix GH4. This lens now gives around 20-30mm full frame equivalent and 40-60mm with 2x digital zoom with video at 4K resolution without noticeable loss of quality; all at a speedy f/1.4. A very useful product indeed. Seems reliable after a few weeks use. Flare resistance and resolution seem consistent with the competition. Only niggles are: I had to adjust it to get infinity focus, and if I use the aperture control on the device, it will only work that way from then on; you have to reboot the camera to get it working from the camera controls again. Not an issue unless you accidentally knock the aperture control.

I can't wait to test this adapter it fully on other subjects than me in the mirror and some household items. It focuses so well on Panasonic GX8 with my Canon lenses. It might not be up for sports and fast action photography but great for video, portraits and I hope for landscapes too once I test it out. I tested it so far with Canon 24-105 F4L USM, Canon 85 F1.8 USM and 50mm 1.8 STM. It focuses in very low light too. I am using the latest firmware v3.2. Surpassed my expectation by quite a bit thus far. Panasonic GX8 is such a great camera to use and this adapter just works great on it. These samples are Jpegs straight out of camera using 24-105 and 50 STM.

I had been looking into getting a speed booster for a while, having initially taken the small step of buying a basic canon to m42 adapter. The industry standard one costs quite a bit and was out of my price range , so I watched loads of videos before deciding to go for the Viltrox. I have to say I have been blown away by the quality and build, and only wished I had bought it before. I tested it with many canon lenses and the only ones that has a slight focus hunting issue was the canon 35mm F2 and the 50mm f1.8. The best one for almost instantaneous autofocus was my 24-105mm f4, closely followed by the 85mm F1.8

Used on a Panasonic G9 and sigma 18-35 1.8.Cons - There's slight vignetting (might be the lens) and is mitigated by stopping down to around 2.8 and initially the lens couldn't reach infinity focus, but that was easily fixed by rotating the element clockwise until it worked properly.Pros - Image quality seems nice and sharp and the extra stop of light is noticeable when compared to not using a speedbooster. IBIS, AF and aperture all work through the camera, although AF doesn't work well continuously for photos and a bit too noisy for video.Definitely worth it over metabones if you value money

After a bit of fiddling with the lens facing glass as per online instructions, I've now got this taking some wonderful images (see above, taken at f4 on my Sigma 18-35 1.8 lens paired with a GH4). It's perhaps not quite as sharp as using a decent native lens. However I intend to use it for video, so it's more than good enough for that. It seems well made - it fits the camera/lens snuggly. Autofocus isn't perfect, but it's actually better than I thought it would be.

Delivery from UK to Scandinavia was a lot faster than I expected! Adapter works perfectly with the Sigma 18-35, really tight fit, but I wish the adapter would attach just a bit more securely to my GH5. Now it locks to the camera body with almost zero effort, and after the "click" there's just a bit of movement, but apparently according to Viltrox this falls inside the quality control standards. Works fine though, AF also works. Good image quality.

A great (and a lot cheaper) alternative to the Metabones Speedbooster. The manufacturing quality of the product is high and it works well... One thing you need to be aware of however is, that this adapter is not set up correctly as delivered and infinity focus will be waaaaaaay off. You will need to adjust the optics and test it properly before using in anger but there are some YouTube videos that show you how to do this.

I was very nervous when i clicked "order now"; I had heard good and bad stuff and therefore didn't know what to expect.I picked the right choice! The Sigma 18-35mm looks great with this on the Pocket 4K, and all things works as a native lens (just not the autofocus). When I go down to 1.2 I see some blur in the sides and middle — but if your on a budget or never go to 1.2 this is really great overall.

Works great with my Gh4 and rokinon lenses. I did have to turn the optical element to achieve infinite focus, but that was very easy to do and now it works.I tried to use autofocus on a 50mm f1.8 but was not able to get it to work properly, it just kept hunting back and forth, haven't tried it with any other lens with autofocus though so it might work better with other ones.

It is much cheaper than Metabones and there is not that big difference between these two adapter. I bought viltrox and saved money for an extra lens. You can find many reviews which show issues about viltrox but I think the most important in a video is the content and viewers won't check aberrations in the corners of the frame. Also this adapter is great for general use.

I had a couple of older Canon lenses I wanted to use on my Panasonic G9, the Viltrox site didn't list them as compatible but they both work great, Tamron 16-300mm VC PZD and Canon 15-85mm IS USM, so I am happy and it beats the Metabones hands down for price and I would say quality too

wow , i am shock that its working smooth , i have several canon lenses and i test them , all work fine , 85 mm / 70-200 / 16-35 and many more . i think its best value for mft gh5 or gh4 to use different lenses . the apature on canon 85 mm which is 1.8 even goes to 1.3 excellent bokeh

3.4.2020

Great speed booster for 1 lens, I find it needs to be altered (the glass needs to be screwed/twisted on its threads a little) to get infinity focus when i switch from a tokina wide angle to a canon 24 - 105.

I am using this on a Panasonic G7 with a Canon 50mm f1.8. It is amasing. I will recommend this without any hesitation especially for the price.. It has great build quality and ease of use
