I have had all three generations of this kit lens. Each generation has got better. The last I.S. one I had started to get a sticky zoom action so I bought the new STM one. The new STM lens is better in every way. Silent focus with full-time manual focus and a proper focusing ring, and also a non-rotating front element which is much better for polariser and graduated N.D filter use. Even the resolution has improved. The last one was very good but this new one is exceptional.

I bought this to replace an older version as I was trading it and my older 500D for a new 700D body. At the time, this was the cheapest on offer and I really wanted a new lens to complement the new body. It works as expected and I have no complaints. This was a white box purchase, having been separated from a body and lens kit. There was no instructions but this was not a problem for me. I was also able to register this with Canon without difficulty.

Bought this to replace an older Canon version that had stopped auto focusing. It would have cost me as much to have that lens repaired, so bought a new one. This lens is great. Very quiet, almost silent. Auto focus is really good and I find that the pictures are clearer and sharper than with the old Canon lens. Very pleased with it, price very good. Makes taking photos a real pleasure.

I received an email to tell me when the lens would be delivered - and it was. It was all beautifully and very safely packaged. I then received a further email containing the receipt and contact details in case of any problems. I am more than satisfied with the service and delighted with the lens and would have no hesitation in buying again from this source.

This lens is fairly slow, it's plasticy and the build quality is not high. However, it's also very small and light; the image stabilisation is excellent and, like other STM lenses Canon have released recently, it's really sharp for a cheap lens!

The quality seems very good and made taking photos over the Christmas period so much easier when teamed up with my 600D and the flexibility to alternate between this and our 55-250mm depending on situation.

It does everything they claim for it and it works well. If you want to take things to the extreme and then blow the photo to billboard size the edges do blur and distort. What else would you expect?

Not had a lot of chance to use it yet but pleased with the lens so far. Have taken a few low light level shots which seem a lot clearer than I would have got with my old lens without IS.

Bought this lens for my wife's EOS camera. She finds the light weight of the combination of camera and lens very much to her liking. Test images taken so far look great.

I bought this after my kit lens stopped working and it has been the perfect replacement!Absolutely no issues with it at all after a year of use - would buy again!
