I have just upgraded from the mark I lens and have been very impressed by how canon have improved on this lens. It is expensive but I bought it when canon were giving the £250 cash back so that put a smile back on my bank managers face. I’m not going to bore you with the details of this lens and how accurate and sharp the focusing is and how quick the IS works and how fantastic the build is, what I am going to tell you is DO buy this lens. A must for every photographers bag.

I have had one of these for a couple of years and I continue to be blown away by it. Canon has produced a simply stunniung piece of glass. The performance is so fast and smooth and razor sharp. It does have a bit of weight to it and the combination of my 5DmkIII weighs in at some 6lb. BUT do NOT be put off by that, the lens is worth every single penny/dime/sheckle/bottle top you may use to buy one.DO IT you willl NOT be disappointed.

Ive used this lens for wildlife in Africa, Seabirds in the UK to landscapes in Wales & Dartmoor. The versatility of this lens is without question as is the optical quality Ive had on my Canon 5DS, EOS-R or 6D MKII. Well built and easy to operate and guarded against rain & moisture and a big mechanical improvement over the MKI trombone operation that used to drag in dust.

I've had this lens for a while and have secured some memorable images, but the barrel tightening band failed. Canon support were less than helpful even though I'm sure the fix would be straightforward. As I needed the lens for a prolonged shoot, I haven't got round to all the rigmarole of sending it back etc. It still works brilliantly though!

I bought this lens nearly 4 months ago and have used it in Ireland, Norway & Spain. Its a great lens for sports photography and even portraits. I love it. All the press reports that say its superb are right. A great investment and my JPEG's & RAW images are a lot better with this lens.

I have owned this lens for three months .. it really is The Biz .. whether I'm shooting sports, rail or candid images this lens never fails me .. I also added a 1.4x extender for added Umph when needed.

I thought the 70-300 L lens was quick focusing and sharp ,it is ,however, the new 100-400 L Mk 2 has it beat.The 70-300 has the advantage of being a more transport friendly lens but that is about it.
