I bought this for my 750D. The Image quality is excellent, for the price. As you would expect with most superzooms, the corners soften on full zoom, but for everyday use, it gives a lot of options without having to swap lenses - which is when you may loose that perfect moment. When I first attached this to the camera, I got some errors because of bad contact between the lens and body. After a bit of cleaning, it seemed to be fine and has worked OK since. The AF is not as silent as the 18-55 kit lens and is not acceptable for video, although you can switch the AF and stabilizer off. The AF speed is reasonable but its no Mo Farah and it seems very slow in low light. At f3.5,its fairly fast for a zoom of this size and 0.45m min focus means its a very good general purpose lens. I have taken a fair few pictures with this and so far the stabiliser has done the job. The one point to note is that its heavy at over 600g and is as long as my 28-300 Tamron at around 100mm and with a 72mm filter - better suited to the larger hand. So, this may not suit you if you like a very portable point and shoot, but then you'd most likely opt for a compact camera. After a day of using this with the combined weight of the camera and perhaps a hot shoe flash, you would feel like you've had a mini workout. Bottom line is that for the price I was prepared to pay - around £220 for a S/H lens, this is a great buy. There are of course better offerings but you would need to spend a lot more.Read full review...

This lens is nicely built and smooth to use .. although no USM, no FTM-F, and focusing ring rotates on focusing. Front element doesn't rotate on focusing so can use polarizing filters. The build quality is nearer to a kit lens than to a mid-range USM lens .. but has a metal mount .. so mainly for light amateur use or as a travel / walkabout lens. Has a lock @ 18mm to prevent creep while carried around.Focusing is quick and silent and mostly accurate .. IS is effective .. Colours are neutral and vibrant .. Nice contrastA lot of barrel distortion @ 18mm ..Sharpness is a bit low wide open especially at extremes of zoom .. although stopping down improves the sharpness a lot ..especially centrally ..Compared to Sigma and Tamron used on other Canon bodies .. very difficult to decide between them .. although I would say Canon and Tamron seem to have better sharpness and focusing accuracy .. while Canon and Sigma have nicer build .. Tamron seems to be the sharper of the three although slower in focusing and certainly not for dim lit scenes .. this is true at least of the copies I owned ..Overall 7.5/10 .. based on what I felt was more important to me .. other people will differ .. so try it out for yourself at a shop before you buy.Read full review...

I wanted one lens that would suit most situations. And it's pretty good in most situations. The barrel distortion at the 18mm end is a bit dissapointing, but only when shooting architecture. The quality at the fully zoomed end is excellent though. The quality is much better than the sigma and it feels better built too.It is a pretty heavy lens for an everyday lens, but the practicality of it far outweighs this. (excuse the pun)No USM: It is a little noisier than a USM lens and I think some of the weight is attributable to this. And it takes a tiny bit longer to focus than a USM, but not so much that you'd notice, it is still very rapid at focusing and can quickly adjust to moving subjects.Although I've noticed you have to keep pressing the half shuter for this, rather than the constant adjustment on a USM. Which makes it slightly harder for capturing children and animals, but not impossible. All in all, a happy purchase for an everyday lens.Although I will still be keeping my other lenses in my kit bag for when I've got time to set up the perfect shots. It would be excellent if it had USM and no barrel at 18mm wide angleRead full review...

When you're a keen walker but don't take your camera with you because the lenses are simply too heavy and swapping them round makes you poor company, you realise there's a trade-off between theoretical quality and enjoyment. What's great with this lens is that you can walk with the camera over your back and not end up with back ache. You can enjoy good quality shots and put your effort into technical skills if you like. Okay, it's not got an ultrasonic motor so probably not the best for wildlife but you can't have everything in one. I was suprised how well the stabiliser compensated for the limited max aperture so perfectly usable on an overcast day in late autumn. Also great for taking to partieswhere the focal range is probably more useful than top quality shots.I am actually wondering whether to sell my more expensive lenses now I've got this one!I had a look at the standard rivals on eBay over a couple of months and felt that this was the pick of the bunch. You could get 18mm-250mm but this has better slightly better optics.Read full review...

Canon have at last created a genuine all purpose lens. The image quality is first rate for a lens with this range but there are some misgivings. The lens does extend and retract under its own weight when pointed up or down though this will not be a problem for me and there is a lens lock to stop this happening in transit. The centre image quality is excellent though needs stopping down a little for edge sharpness. I would heartily recommend this lens as a holiday/ General purpose lens but the cost is rather high and it is definitely no L lens. The IS is superb when the light is not too good and though quite fast the USM would have been a welcome addition. All in all good to very good but not stella.

Having already bought the camera I wanted to improve the pictures I took. My partner shows dogs so I needed an 18-200mm telescopic lens to allow me to do long shots as well as portrate without changing the lens over. I didn't know if it was possible to get such a lens until I saw it on ebay. You always open yourself up by going into a shop to ask such questions. You always feel that they could easily bamboozal you into buying something you didn't need, even if that is not their aim,so when I saw such a lens when I was brousing it answered a lot of questions. Luck was on my side when I had enough time to compare prices before I bid.I managed to get it for a lot less than it would have cost as well.

Having read several reports on this lens, some positive some negative I decided to purchase it as a walkabout lens so I could leave my 18-55 and 55-250 kit lenses at home, overaul I am very satisfied with the quality of the lens and its performance is certainly on a par with my other 2 lenses and it covers most of my requirements. Critics may say the optics are poor but i find if you work within the limitations of the lens and keep it a couple of stops down I find it very acceptable, the image stabiliser is very good and certainly helps with my age related unsteadiness. for the sheer convenience of having one lens to cover most needs I am very pleased with my purchase.

Wanted a lens to match my EOS 500D SLR camera, first thing I thought about the lens "lets see if it's on Ebay" and guess what it was! Whsat a suprise I was in for, when I realised that it was like new as well. The seller had only taken it out of the box to have a look at it then stuck it on Ebay. Lucky for me or what. So I started bidding for it and eventually got it for about £100 less than anywhere else. What a bargain that was because these lenses keep their value, the same value I would say I got on ebay. For sure, if I wanted to sell the lens again, I know where I will put it up for sale, yes you guessed it Ebay.

Recently upgraded my canon A80 (which was very good)for a canon EOS 450 DSLR.The limitations of the 18-55mm lens became apparant. The super-zoom option wasappealing, as not to keen carrying & switching lenses. Read several reviewsbetween the Canon 18-200mm & Tamron 18-270mm lenses. Both similar in spec andcompromises. Went for the Canon, with very good eBay price.Excellent condition. So far delighted with the lens, fantastic range, good focus & metering.A bitweighty, but getting used to it and it still fits my case.I now really enjoy taking my camera out again. Highly recommended.

Good all in one lense. Bought it to allow flexibility when out and about without having to carry an extra lense. Image quality is good although not perfect in low light especially when using zoom as f level step up. Required tripod in low light situation. Lense lock only work to keep the lense in its normal state ie. when you want to put it away. Lense lock doesn't work when zooming but not a problem as long as you hold the lense with your hand to stop it creeping. All in all, a convenient lense but don't expect fast speed with great light like the one with lower F stop lenses.

A beautiful lens, solid big and sturdy as you would expect for a canon, perfect medium telephoto capability, pretty much a must for any serious photographer. The 72mm lens is impressive and the large surface area catches all the beautiful light and colours. It's limited on too close shots, it's perfect for wedding photography and street photography. Only flaw is it's weight which can't be helped due to its size, no problems while using but it's heavy around the neck after a while!

This Lens is top of the range and captures some amazing shots. We used to have the Canon 18-55mm Lens and that was also great but you couldn't zoom in to get some long range shots. Hence us getting the 18-200mm Lens. It's the perfect lens to keep in your camera carry bag and it does everything, so know need for 2 lens at all. Just get the 18-200mm and sell on the others. The 18-200mm wil do it all, close range and zoom shots.I'd fully recommend the 18-200mm lens.

as a member of a glasgow camera club i take a lot of images......my brother-in-law and i have identical cameras, we often take similar images, his were always better than mine.......till i got this lens. now i am gpoing to get competative.with the recentt commonwealth games i had plenty of opportunity to use it in all weathers and times of day and night, i have no hesitation in recommending it.also it was very well priced and arrived very quickly.

Sturdy, well made lens. Purchased for it's great focal length range for use as a single all purpose travelling lens. As it has turned out, I now pair it up with the Canon 10-18 wide angle zoom as my carry round kit. Only 4 stars for weight as it is much heavier than the Tamron equivalent. Shot quality excellent in my view, but then again I am never going to be spending £0000's on Canon L lenses. IS works great at all focal lengths

I was expecting to have to put up with some compromises in terms of quality i.e. by using a more suitable lens for the subject & scene. No problems it functioned perfectly for all types of scene. The only small problem I found is it does have a habit of self extending when not locked but only when hanging down from the Camera. Now, I don't use anything else except my 500mm lens for long shots
