Want to hear a secret? I've only JUST got Benefit's They're Real Mascara *oops* - My bad. The reason why? it's purely because I found a mascara that I adored (Artdeco) and really didn't think that anything would ever exceed or even match the results I got from that, believe me I have tried so-so many mascara's over the last few years especially trying to better the Artdeco brand mascara - most have failed miserably. But, you've probably guessed or why else would I be blogging and reviewing this? I LOVE it! It comes boxed first of all, the box is a standard no fuss style packaging that's synonymous with the Benefit brand.Opening up the box you'll find a sleek mirrored mascara packaging that oozes glamour. The brush stands out due to it being different from most other brands. Most brands believe that adding a ton of fibre bristles in varying lengths will 'catch' each lash coating it with product. Benefit funnily enough don't - Their brush is rubbery and those rubbery bristles are spaced at even lengths apart rather than being bunched up.I found it so much easier to brush on the product and to actually get awesome looking lashes. My eyelashes actually look healthy and long. You've heard me moan about how short, stubby and sparse my lashes are but this mascara and I'm hoping the Rapidlash have made a huge difference.I finally have lashes *yay* there's no falsies, extensions or what not here guys. The mascara is more fluid than other brands, hasn't yet clumped or flaked and doesn't smudge, it is also a black-black rather than a dark grey black which most brands tend to be.

I came across this at the counter in a certain large high street chemist Hmm hmm! I picked it up in haste thinking it was one of those products that you apply and it gradually increases the appearance of your lashes but when I got it home realised it was not. However, most certainly not disappointing.I had chemotherapy in 2012 and lost all of my eyelashes by May 2012. Previously, they had always been long and naturally curled so when I applied pretty much any mascara they looked great, almost fake!! (in a good way) However, since regrowth they have been finer, shorter and even after using an eyelash curler, quite straight. I had previously been applying vaseline or Jojoba oil nightly which was actually going some way to improving them.Upon the first application of this, I was amazed. One coat is great. It does make them look longer, thicker and there is no need to use the eyelash curler. two coats make them look fantastic but you have to apply it quite quickly after the first coat as it does dry quite quickly. The only thing is they are quite stiff when dry. I had always preferred mascara which leaves them soft to the touch but beggars can't be choosers I guess. Also the applicator brush is fairly rigid too and the very helpful nobbly tip can poke you in the eye if you are not careful. When this happens, you blink out of pain/shock and there is mascara all over your face so apply carefully and pay attention to the spikey tip!All in all, it does exactly what I need at the moment. Very pleased.

I have tried A LOT of mascaras, but this is the best I have ever used. I have naturally blonde lashes that are getting sparser as I get older and have been loading on the mascara since I was in my early teens!I was initially reluctant to buy this because of the price (I normally stick to under £10 for a mascara) and because it isn't waterproof (I'm a contact lens wearer and sometimes find my watery eyes leave me looking like a panda with non-waterproof mascara!) However, I'd say it was good value for money at the RRP and I haven't had problems with it running during normal wear, including in the rain (I did swim with it on once and never again - don't be confident that it is properly waterproof!)The mascara applies really easily and one coat gives you a natural,long-lashed look, although I prefer quite a dramatic look - easily achieved with a couple of coats. The mascara doesn't clump and has a spiky ended brush to get to all the little lashes at the edge of eyes that often get missed. It definitely lengthens my lashes, keeps them separate and also curls them so my eyes look more open.I love this mascara and would recommend it wholeheartedly!Incidentally, if you're certain you do need something waterproof and still fabulous, Maybelline's the Falsies Volum' Express Waterproof is my next best pick - cheaper and stays put, but not quite as amazing as the Benefit one.

Benefit Cosmetics They're Real! Mascara (BLACK) 8.5g, from Aviance. The manufacturers of this mascara promise a jet-black mascara that lengthens, curls, volumizes, lifts and separates lashes. They say that, when using it, 90% of users saw base-to-tip curl; 94% saw visible lift and dramatic length and volume; 100% saw long-wearing results. They add that their specially designed brush features staggered bristles that will grab close to the root of the lash, and the custom-domed tip uses precision bristles to lift, define, and curl even the tiniest lashes. They add that it is a glossy long-wearing formula that won't smudge, clump, or dry out.Their suggested use: position wand horizontally and wiggle from side to side, base to tip of the lash to achieve maximum volume, length and lift. Hold wand vertically and stroke upward to curl and separate. Layer generously as desired. As a younger woman, I had a 25-year long nervous habit of pulling out my eyelashes; my lids were usually bare. I’ve had some regrowth since then, but my eyelashes are still sparse. So when this product was recommended to me by my beauty salon, and I saw that the cosmetologists working there had great looking lashes, I had to try it. I do think it makes more of what eyelashes I have than other mascaras I have tried, but I wish it came in shades other than jet black.

This mascara is fantastic. I bought some last week in Debenhams and it was 18.50. I thought that was a lot of money to spend on a mascara but it is worth every penny. It really does make your lashes look longer and fuller...even the little tiny ones. But I find the price here ridiculous. I cannot believe people are selling this mascara for such an inflated price when you can buy it on ebay for a third of the price or in a well known department store for 18.50. This is a rip off.Update; I bought my mascara from Debenhams for 18.50. I have seen it here for £32 and £28. Anyway apart from the fact it is cheaper in the shops and no p&p and also cheaper on ebay, I really liked it at first.I bought another one a couple of months later and I was really disappointed with it as it made my lashes look clogged up and horrible. I persevered with it a few days and in the end went back to my old faithful Maybelline. I might get it out the drawer and try it again, but to be honest it's not worth the money.

My daughter discovered this first & it made her long, luscious lashes even more fabulous. Being slightly older than her (!) my lashes are getting sparser. I want a mascara to lengthen, volumise & separate my lashes without looking clumpy or age-inappropriate. I must have tried every mascara known to man in the search for THE ONE - now my search is over. Although only billed as smudgeproof, I can wear it all day without it smudging or flaking. The consultant where I bought mine said she swims in it - & her mum wore it for a wedding throughout which she shed more than a few tears without it budging. It gives me long, separate, lashes & the clever little bobbled sphere on the end of the wand finds all those lashes other mascaras don't.Shocked at the price on here, though - it's readily available from 'a well-known chemist' at £18.50 online or £18.95 in store.UPDATE 5th March 2012: Glad to see the price is now more sensible :)

OMG, this is the most amazing mascara I have ever used. I had become increasingly frustrated with all the money I have wasted on various popular brands claiming that they had revolutionised a fab new mascara that gave volume and length. I tried a different one everytime I needed a new one and even after curling my lashes 3 times it left my lashes flat and still invisible. Then I discovered this! I read some great reviews, all 5 out of 5 and it is more than I would usually spend, and again I was sceptical that it would work. But now I have lashed twice the length, one curl with my curlers and my eyes are opened and lashes long and volumised. Bit on the pricey side, but worth every penny in my opinion.I just hope the don't discontinue it now it's taken all the years to find a mascara that actually lives up to the hype!I don't even want to give it 5 out of 5, I'd love to give it 6!!!

I've been using the Bad Girl mascara from Benefit for quite a while and have been very happy with it. I recently had a bit of a make-over when visiting the Benefit Covent Garden store and the They're Real mascara was recommended by the advisor. I was dubious at first as the wand is a completely different design to the Bad Girl, but after getting some tips on how to apply it properly I was really very impressed.I'm positive that over the years my eyelashes have shrunk (I'm late 40s), and I really don't want to go down the fake eyelash route, but would like some long glossy lashes. This is a great colour and I've found that it really does add length to my lashes. It doesn't smudge and is easy to remove with make up remover wipes.I'm converted, the only downside is that it's pretty expensive, but Benefit products are top quality so I'm happy to splurge every now and then

After a somewhat mediocre experience with a Benefit mascara purchased a couple of months ago I was initially wary of taking the plunge into the brand for this particular product. However after hearing numerous positive reviews I thought I'd give it a go and oh am I glad I did! This is one of a few makeup products that actually live up to the claims on their packaging. With only one coat my lashes are visibly longer, thicker and more defined. The formula is smooth and doesn't clump if you want to apply extra coats for a more dramatic finish. The brush is a decent size and has well separated bristles to really catch each and every lash. The spiked ball at the tip really helps you get to all of the finer hairs towards the corners of the eyes and bottom lashes which are notoriously tricky to do neatly. Well done Benefit!

I am allergic to everything - seriously. I can wear eye make-up, but no foundation, lipstick, etc. Anyway, brown is very hard to find in mascara. In addition most mascaras have a brush - this has very small pieces of plastic (?) raised as a brush. Tons of them so that they help to separate the lashes as applying. I was taught to jiggle the brush as you apply from your eye to the end of the lash to help separate - between doing that and with this "brush" all looks good. I am so tired of spending money on the products from 5-15 dollars and find them clumpy and thick on the brush so they bunch my lashes together. Being older I do not want to look like I have false lashes - with this I look natural. And I don't racoon eyes as the day wears on. I think if you try this once, you will be hooked like me.

I am 33 years old and have been using mascara daily since about 14. That is very many tried and tested mascaras! :) Very many from the cheapest to the most expensive top designer brands, the recommended etc etc. This is the number one mascara. I can honestly say that I will never buy any other mascara from today! It's not just the massive plastic brush but there is something about the consistency of this, it looks like a glue when the brush comes out but don't worry, doesn't feel like it on the lashes! After the application the lashes are long, thick and curled, seriously they look like falsies (the natural looking ones ;)) And the more you apply, the bigger they get!If there is one cosmetic product I could recommend, it would be this fabulous mascara. It's a bit pricey but TOTALLY worth it.

I was skeptical. For me, Baby Doll mascara or Max Factor ones work the best for length and thickness. When I opened this mascara (£22.50) from Debenhams, I was concerned but when I applied it, the 2nd coat I was absolutely amazed to the point I couldn't stop looking at them! People were noticing that I looked different, a couple of people at work, my fella, my Mum! seriously folks this is by far the BEST mascara. Only slight downfall is you do really need to wipe harder to remove it - well worth the extra minute though for the lashes to look amazing. Nice one Benefit.

This is a gentle, understated brown that suits my short, straight eyelashes well! It adds length and createsa little curl without making them look false or heavy. It's easy to apply, has a non-clumpy formula that doesn't flake or leave residual flecks on my face during the day, is not at all drying or irritating - I even like the applicator wand, which, unlike some brands, isn't so full of bristles that it makes the product difficult to apply lightly - and is easy to remove, again without damaging my lashes. Thank you, Benefit!

I first purchased this mascara last year around June time and I couldn't live without it, I thought it was the best thing in the world, I used it everyday until it dried out 3 months later. But looking back at it, I've purchased different mascaras and it doesn't seem to be that amazing anymore, it is all about how you apply the mascara rather than what one you are using. I recommend it to those of you that want to try something new and exciting. Price is reasonable for its quality but smells quite 'old lady-ish'.

This does do what it says on the tin so to speak. I got this for Christmas from a friend who also uses it and its really good. I have to say it makes my lashes nice and long and you only need two to three coats maxium, any more then this and it does start to clump (only downside). It is also a little harder to remove then other mascaras I have used recently (if you use wipes you will need quite a hard scrub) but this is not a negative just something to bear in mind.
