I have been making couscous since my first exposure to Algeria and Morocco during the mid-1960s. I started with an aluminium version couscoussiere of the sort available in most souks, but then trashed it when I became concerned about its reaction with tomatoes. For a number of years I made do with a steamer, but its holes were too big and its capacity too small. This one, distributed by Baumalu of France, is a welcome addition to my collection of pots and pans. Its capacity is suited to a household of about four people, but I think it would do six in a scratch. It's not so big that it won't fit on my shelves or in my sink. I've checked its dimensions, and the lower pot really does hold nine litres. It's easy to clean. The steel-alumina-steel base is a little slow to heat up, but once going is a gem to cook with.

The total package is an excellent product making a tagine cooked dish and steamed couscous a pleasure and so easy from start to end. There was no steam escape from the joint and produced the best couscous I have ever had. The lamb tagine was pretty smart too.If there is one problem it is that it is quite a large pan and therefore difficult to store, although I chose this as it was the only one I was confident had the right size holes to retain the couscous during the steaming.I am so pleased with it and looking forward to many more successful meals.I do have other tegines, but this has transformed the couscous whilst cooking the main dish. I would recommend this to everyone.

i have not used it yet , as i received it today , but it looks like my best couscoussier so far . iam a North african and i cook couscous a lot and i have been through many couscoussiers , this one is so good , large enough for a couscous party , pot has a heavy bottom , and the top closes nicely to the bottom so no loss of steam . i hope it delivers when i use it . iam very pleased and recommend it .

This couscouspot is huge, I easily used 1kg of semolina with it and there was plenty of room for another 1kg (and maybe even more)if you like to make couscous for big event, have a big family or maybe just want to make big amount and freeze it, this pot is a great choice.I used to have the smaller version of this one which was great as well.

This is a replacement for my 35 year old aluminium couscousier bought from a Tunisian souk. It's well made and looks great. Haven't used it yet in anger but a friend liked it so much I bought them one too. Everything seems to fit tightly so will hopefully steam well. Very pleased with this huge pot.

This is the best couscousiere I’ve owned. It’s really sturdy and the bottom of the pan is very thick, so food doesn’t stick and burn. It’s huge volume means I can cook large quantities. I’ve also used it for bulk cooking of Bolognase sauce and chilli’s, for freezing. I wouldn’t be without it.

A very generously sized couscoussier with holes that are small enough to prevent the couscous from falling into the boiling water below. And I use fine couscous, so if it's not a problem for that it won't be a problem for any other type of couscous.

We have been looking for couscuse steamer for a while, usual problem as every one here knows, holes tooooo big for couscuse. This product is perfect, holes size is ideal well spaced to retain cosucouse whithout falling, good quality, fast service.

This is my first couscouspot, so I'm no expert. I bought it based on recommendations from other purchasers, and as far as I can see it does the job just fine. I've only used it once so far and the results were excellent. Glad I bought it.

Delighted with my new couscousiere. It is a joy to use after cooking with my 30 year old aluminium one and the handles do not seem to get too hot. It was easy to get five servings from it.

I don't know why the pot needs to be so tall, although I suppose if you were going to keep it simmering for a couple of hours, you wouldn't need to top up the water.

Brilliant for steaming couscous, love the glass lid as it allows you to steam other veg! Holes are perfect size so couscous does not fall through.
