We have the Firefighter, Astronaut and Athlete dolls which are all to the usual high Mattel standard and I really like that they are promoting careers for young girls rather than just dolls that look pretty. That being said I've never had an issue with the normal 'pretty' Barbie dolls either as quite simply they are dolls and I believe if you bring up a strong, independent and clever young girl she'll do well as a woman anyway. The Firefighter doll comes with a hat along with her outfit and the outfit has detailing on it such as a radio and torch. I do like her firefighter boots which are nicely detailed and the doll is nicely made. The Astronaut doll is my least favourite mainly because I don'tthink the helmet is going to withstand a lot of play however the helmet is obviously my Daughters favourite part. The Astronaut has a space suit, boots, helmet and gloves. The gloves slip on over the sleeves and have a side slit to help ease them on but I think this would be a little difficult for a younger child to do. The boots are nicely detailed and the space suit has print to look like valve input areas etc.The Athlete aka footballer is my Daughters favourite because her top is pink and this is why I don't read too much into dolls etc as a child is going to like what they like at the end of the day and if my Daughter likes something because its pink well thats fine. The footballer has a t-shirt with a designed 59 on it along with matching black shorts also with the number 59 on them. She has trainers with little stud detail on the bottom of them, socks and even shin pads and not to forget she comes with a football.A nice range of dolls and I like what Mattel are doing with the career side of things but equally my Daughter loves her pink Barbie Mermaid doll too.

Barbie GFX29 Career 60th Doll, I Can Be a Firefighter, BlondeWow, these Barbie dolls sure have been around for a long time, 60 years now it seems, they certainly are popular with children of all ages. This Barbie doll is... well, a bit of a doll! She's the most attractive Firefighter that I've ever come across. This Barbie has long golden hair tied into a pony tail, she has piercing blue eyes with pink lips. The artwork on her face is nicely detailed, she has a happy look about her which beckons a child to play with her.The Firefighter suit is very nice indeed, it is golden yellow in colour, the material is very tough indeed. The Firefighter suit has graphics of a torch and walkie talkie printed on the chest area. This Barbie has all of the movable parts that you would expect from a Barbie. She would make a great addition to any child's collection. This is a really nice looking Barbie which I'm sure will quickly become a favourite. This Barbi doll looks far better in real life than it does in the photos of the Amazon listing - Recommended!Contents -1 x Barbie1 X Fireman clothes set1 x Fire helmetIf you have found my review at all helpful I would very much appreciate if you could click the 'Helpful' button below, thank you.

Barbie returns as a firewoman. She is part of the ‘Barbie you can be anything collection’. She is impossibly pretty, with long blond hair (tied neatly back), blue eyes and slender. She wears a rather yellow firefighter’s suit, complete with printed accessories including a badge and walkie-talkie. It is shame that the pockets do not open and the accessories are printed rather than removable. The suit top is closed and opened with Velcro and the pants are easily slipped off. The boots are removable: there is great detailing on the boots and these come with non slip soles and the initial, B, inscribed on the treads. There are no other accessories other than Barbie’s plastic and ribbed yellow hat.Barbie has a head that turns, articulated shoulder joints and hips. Clothes are interchangeable with other career Barbie dolls. However, she is unable to stand unaided. At £9.99 (Amazon, August 2019), this is reasonably priced. This doll is a welcome addition to the Barbie family and she is a great match for the Ken equivalent. Dolls encourage imaginative, creative and role playing.

There have been at least two previous versions of firefighter barbie (one from the 90's and one from 2015) and neither looked particularly realistic with outfits that look more fashionable than anything an actual firefighter would use. The 90's version even came with a dog and a first aid bag which suggested that barbies job was holding the first aid kit and looking after the local firestation pet rather than actually fighting any fires. Anyway this version is part of the Careers range which covers jobs like "farmer", "scientist", "paleantologist", "beekeeper" and loads more. The only reason this loses a star is unlike some of the other careers barbies,it doesn't come with any extras and the outfit is rather plain - even the torch and walkie talkie are only just printed on the jacket. I would have preferred if it came with some bits like a breathing apparatus or even just a fire extinguisher! But well done to Barbie for introducing a diverse range of barbies engaging in actual careers!

This is a great Barbie doll to represent the 60th anniversary and a fantastic one to keep as a collectable. The firefighter outfit (no longer a fireman or firewoman) is very gender neutral and it is nice to see that there are no overly-girly unnecessary accessories. Another Barbie that I recently reviewed, despite portraying a positive working role model, had her in a short dress and massively high-heeled shoes. None of that here and its good to see her dressed in proper overalls with firefighter's boots on.It is a little disappointing that there are no additional accessories, however that is reflected in the lower price that she retails at. Likewise,it's strange that the items are printed on the front of the overalls rather than being actual plastic accessories, however I suppose it's less stuff to get lost during play.Any girl, or boy, receiving this Barbie as a gift will be very pleased with her and, I hope, it ispires them to consider becoming a firefighter in the future.

Barbie has been around since my youth but she has evolved so much more with her messages - that girls can be so much more than pretty objects to admire. Barbie inspires kids to believe they can be whoever they want to be, this career doll is another great example a firefighter. Uniform is recognisable as firefighter and has a imitation flashlight and walkie talkie to add that professional touch. This is part of a set of dolls inspiring careers for children. The possibilities are endless as not only can she be used for play, she may also be used to help with fire safety training for kids etc. Good to see Barbie is keeping up with the times.

Review by my daughter, aged 8:The firefighter Barbie is really good, she has a really nice hat but it keeps falling off. It is fun to play with my other toys. I loved brushing her long hair.My review:I'm a bit conflicted about Barbie and what it represents, but I do think it is great having Barbie doing jobs/activities that aren't just girly dress wearing etc. This one is great although the hat does not fit properly which is very annoying. Overall, this is a good Barbie, they are well made and give a lot of imaginative play, and the fact that she isn't wearing a tiny dress is even better in my book.

In the endless reinvention of a popular brand, Barbie is a Firefighter in this latest incarnation of the perennial, most enduring doll. Of course, she's still pretty glamorous, but at least the manufacturer is trying to keep her current by showing girls that a variety of career options are open. It's a good addition to the Barbie range, and there grown-ups who collect the Barbie range, and I am sure this variant will be eagerly snapped up by those, too. She functions fine as a toy, and my friend's six year old daughter welcomed her as the latest addition to her ever-expanding Barbie crew.

This is part of the Barbie range of dolls showing the doll in various professions, many of which were traditionally male dominated. The idea is to encourage young girls to think that these professions are also open to girls too, and there's no reason for them not to consider them for their future career. If you are going to give a young child a Barbie doll, then this range is worth considering. The presentation of the doll is fairly basic. Arriving in a blaster pack and obviously made to a strict budget, so don't expect anything fancy. It is marked as for age 3+ on the box.

At last, no bikini or high heels. Instead we have a range of Barbies in more PROFESSIONAL attire suited to aworld where women are our equals. This firePERSON one looks great though Im not sure her hair would last long in a blaze and would she have ime to get her makeup that well done whilst the fire truck waited for her. There seems to be an uncomfortable middle ground here, putting her in these clothes yet keeping the supermodel figure and glam look, but...if kids like them, who am I to complain. Im old, to me a doll is a doll, not a political statement.

This latest Barbie Doll works on two levels.Firstly with Barbie in her role as a firefighter she is excellent. The Uniform has all the details the printed walkie talkie and badge along with all the accessories- I'm not sure about that ponytail but hey.Secondly, this is a very collectable Barbie and is the latest in her 200 odd professions as well as a new update to firefighter Barbie with the old uniform and red helmet of the past. The price is a snip at under a tenner at the time of writing.

It's good to see Barbie as a real firefighter, rather than the version in the past that seemed to relegate her to carrying the first aid kit and looking after the forestation pooch.Fans of Barbie will have little reason not to love this. The quality is good, and there is some nice detail (such as the gadgets painted into the tunic). As with other Barbie’s, the movement of the limbs is limited, and she can’t stand up on her own. Overall, though, a good doll.

It's good to see that Barbie is now a role model for traditionally male occupations but this point is probably lost on my neighbour's 6 year-old, since it's a USA yellow fire fighter's uniform, and not the hi-vis yellow that enhances a UK black uniform. Nevertheless she enjoyed adding it to her collection. I worried that the accessories wouldn't stand up to more robust play but so far so good. It has been well-received and now features in the Barbie Palace.

Excellent gift for any girl to show they can be anything! Bought this as a birthday gift for my daughter's friend because her dad is a firefighter and she loved it! She loved having a doll that showed she could have the same role as her dad - she was so excited to play with it. It arrived in time, no damage to the box or product and it looked exactly as pictured. Highly recommend.

An inspiring Barbie in a well presented firefighter's costume, with helmet. Doll is nicely packaged and well presented for collectors. But for the rest of us it will be played with lovingly, helping form cherished memories from childhood. A lovely doll to be played with, treasured and enjoyed. Good value. Lovely doll.
