Very happy with the Asus Blue Cave so far :)I was having wi-fi issues at home having to reboot gadgets and laptops to get a stable connection and observing frequent drop-outs so I decided to upgrade my 9-year-old single band wi-fi router thinking this may have been the source of the problem. It was the problem, however, the Blue Cave has been a major improvement overall.I live in a very wide 4 bed bungalow and I now have reception everywhere in the house. The router is located at one end of my house where the fibre ISP comes into the living room and I still get an average of 3 out of 4 bars on my old smartphone when in the master bedroom at the very opposite end of the house 17 metres away and on the 5 Ghz band! This is with 3 doors closed in between my phone and the router! Granted, I do have plasterboard internal walls which does make a huge difference with any wi-fi signal but was truly impressed by the upgrade. I now get a reasonable signal in the back garden as long as I don't wander too far into the garden. If I do then the signal drops off dramatically but reception is adequate should you have a patio area close to your back door and with the back door closed.I have my wi-fi home security system operating exclusively on the 2.4 Ghz band and everything else routing on the 5 Ghz band. I haven't tested a large volume of wireless devices connecting into the Blue Cave at the same time since most of my devices are hard-wired into the back of my modem so I can't comment on its ability with heavy traffic but I can't see why it would struggle. Wi-fi technology has come a long way in 10 years. What I love about this router is the way it looks. I'is like a piece of art! When I was shopping for a new powerful router, most of them out there are hideous. Large tarantula looking things aren't particularly pleasing on the eye so when I discovered the Blue Cave it seemed to tick my boxes at the possible expense of losing range, however, this has not been the case. The blue light can be dimmed or brightened via the Asus app and the app itself is great for set-up and network customisation and is very user friendly. I haven't checked all the features but appears more than comprehensive and well laid out plus it's slick and responsive which is more than can be said for the app on the old router. I think Asus are the brand to watch for with router technology as they seem to be expanding into this field and are competing with the big hitting usual suspects.Overall, 5 stars for the Asus Blue Cave! Just a pity it's dropped £14 since I purchase it 6 weeks ago on Amazon but a fantastic purchase nonetheless.

The main reason for buying this was for the hardware firewall aspect, having recently had my identity stolen, I am particularly mindful of keeping my information secure. Thus far, its a great piece of kit, and having regular updates from Trend Micro for the hardware firewall element is a real bonus. It updates silently every day, and no annual charges for the updates. This was the deciding factor, the nearest hardware firewall competition charges £81.00 per annum after the first year to maintain the security. I have run a few tests, using software and web based 'ShieldsUp', I also tried to go to dodgy sites and, touch wood, it is as secure as it promises. Worked fine with BT Home Hub,but for some reason I couldn't get it to work with my BTTV box, probably down to my lack of patience and incorrect passwords, as much as anything. That said, leaving one cable plugged into the BT Home Hub router won't cause any issues, but everything else works fine. Except that is for going through the rigmarole of inputting all the new passwords in all the connected devices. I also know it works well with Nordvpn, a simple case of inputting my password, so that'll be the next step.I should add that there is a really straightforward app that enables you to have full remote control from, in my case, an android tablet. All in all, I can't recommend it highly enough.

It's a router. It's stable. It's quite fast. It works pretty much as any other router does. It works through the walls quite well in my Victorian flat/apartment - I get full bars on my PC upstairs which I find quite surprising. Doesn't have MIMO though which is a bit unfortunate though. However, it's safe to say I got this for it's looks. As an grown-up (relatively speaking!), I'd rather not have something that looks like a black alien spaceship with odd things sticking out on display. I have this on a bookshelf out in the open on display rather than tucked away in the corner somewhere. This probably helps with the reception too.Unfortunately this doesn't come with a built in ADSL/VDSL modemwhich means it requires a seperate modem - I'm using a Draytek Vigor ADSL modem with this which is an extra expense. Still, it looks good and work great, a win in my book.

Strong WiFi signal even through our thick walls.Have it in bridge mode as if it’s setup as an access point with dhcp it won’t let you have the wan and lan on the same up subnet so at first I couldn’t talk to devices on the rest of the Home network. So as our wan (internet) was using a 192.168.1.xxx IP address the ASUS made its own network of 192.168.2.xxxOnce I changed the config to bridge mode it used 192.168.1.xxx again so all was fine.I also set the WiFi to combine and therefore automatically manage 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz signals meaning it was just seen as a single wifi point for example ‘office’ instead of ‘office’ and ‘office_5g’.I don’t like the user interface too much but it does the joband once it’s set up then you don’t really need to change it.

Looks fantastic and firmware is (almost) as good as top range Asus routers. Some minor options are not available but barely a deal breaker.WiFi reception is phenomenal, I dropped Ubiquiti as this one is easily as good as my AP-LR point. It is also stable on iPhone/iPad which was an issue with other Asus router I had.Feature set is rich and easy. Setting up VPN server takes few moments and requires almost no knowledge.Very stable, goes weeks between restarts.

This router performs well, and has been stable since I started it up, unlike the previous router from another company that dropped signals after a day. Good signal even upstairs, though some areas off to the side are a bit weak. I'll add another ASUS mesh system to see if that fixes the issue. Other routers were no better and far less stable than this has been so far. Web interface offers a great deal of control over the performance of the system.

This really solved my problem- I have a Virgin Media hub which kept restarting daily by itself and resetting to factory settings. Bought this router and set the Virgin hub to modem mode. This router looks great with its blue shine, the app is useful sand performance has been excellent. I managed to add a couple of Lyra mesh nodes. The set up was painful but this really has transformed my WiFi service around the house.

Had Asus router before and had to return it because it was malfunctioning. Not this one.Not the cheapest one out there, but definitely one of the most good looking and practical ones. Will try a VPN server on it but not now.Signal is good but not great.Paired with some Xiaomi range extenders worked nice under the same network name. Can handle the load pretty nice.

Excellent router!! Massive improvement over the Virgin router. I get the same speeds upstairs as I do downstairs, upstairs being the area the virgin router struggled. Looks modern and very easy to setup would highly recommend. Luckily I bought for this £122 and has just had a price increase.

Had a little bit of trouble setting it up and had to do factory reset then firmware upgrade. I added it to my Aimesh system and it performs very well. I got it for a great price and very happy
