I really like trying new alcoholic beverages and came across this one from reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and promptly ordered a bottle from Amazon to see what the fuss was about. It's a little like that Polish Vodka with infused Buffalo Grass except that the flavour isn't as subtle, the taste of cardamon is strong and if it isn't a flavour that you like then you may want to skip this drink. Fortunately for me, I like it quite a bit as I always add cardamon to curries though I have yet to try it in sweet dishes - there is a type of Swedish dessert which features cardamon and I imagine that a slice of that with a glass of Aqvavit would be very delicious.

I tried this in Denmark many years ago and loved it. In rural Norfolk it seems to be impossible to get hold of unless you buy through Amazon. In fact i can't seem to buy it in this country.I don't know how to describe this. I don't like vodka and I don't like schnapps. This is a clear spirit that tastes of caraway and is definitely best served neat and straight from the freezer. Brilliant with pickled herring and bread.I have bought a couple of bottles for Christmas but one bottle has gone already. I'm trying to keep away from the one that is left.

Have been looking for proper Skandinavian schnapps for a while. Then the Hairy Bikers went to Norway. They found Akvavit and the description they gave told me this was it. I got on to Amazon and found Aarlborg Taffel Akvavit. It's not the same as the 'hairy bikers' had but it is exactly what I wanted. If you haven't tried this you just don't know what you're missing. Great service too. We're now on our 3rd bottle and there will be more... God willing

Have been a fan of this for years. My mum was Danish and always brought a bottle back from trips home. Best kept in the freezer for the ultimate taste sensation. `there's nothing like it.

Reminds me and my husband of visits to Norway being freezing cold but a wee nip of this soon heats you up, but be careful can be misjudged as not that alcoholic but it has a kick to it

A lot of reminiscence in a bottle. Distinct flavour and quite difficult to source locally. Well packed and, like me, not yet drunk.Any free samples would be gratefully received

First time I've tried this akvavit, and it won't be the last. Lovely rich caraway flavour, strong but not overpowering. Good on its own and delicious with cured salmon.

Different to the Jubilaem - more caraway rather than dill flavour, but also great with herring and rye bread. Marginally prefer Jubileum, but only marginally.

I needed a Danish gift for a Danish lunch. This fitted the bill perfectly. The bottle arrived on time and went down very well with the hosts.

the best old snaps nothing surpass it ,but I would like as other mixes has come in to make clear that is the original snaps

My wife's family is from Denmark and I love this stuff. Strong, warming and great with open sandwiches, sill and a lager.
