Angostura is the first name most people think of when they hear ‘bitters’.There’s a reason for that – they have been making really good bitters for a long, long time. This is the classic recipe. It comes in an amber glass bottle with the distinctive yellow cap and oversized label!Angostura is a staple bar ingredient – from long vodkas, to old fashioneds, it’s specified in a number of classic cocktail recipes. It also adds a nice touch to a gin and tonic, and can add a bit of variety to a vodka or gin martini.I also use it when I’m making tomato-based sauces and soups, as I find the delicate taste it gives helps to control the acidity of the tomatoes. If I’m in the mood for a refreshing drink, but don’t want to get sozzled, I will sometimes add a few splashes to soda water. My only gripe about this bottle, is that just like every bottle of angostura bitters I have ever owned, I end up having to clean up drips from the worktop. No matter how gently you tilt the bottle to add it to your glass, there seems to always be a little drip which spurts out. This is a clear design flaw in the cap, but it has never changed as long as I’ve been using them.Still… I can live with that. If it wasn’t lunchtime, I’d probably go and mix up an old fashioned now, as just thinking about the flavour is making me crave it!Thanks for reading.

Essential for every mixologist's cocktail cabinet. An old favourite and it's obvious why, incredible depth and complexity of flavour. It adds spice and warmth to mixed drinks. Essential for pink gin, Martinis, Old Fashioned etc etc. I'd like to try other brands but I can't tear myself away from this classic. The label is famously oversized for catching the dark brown drips that inevitably drip down from the top. I always keep a bottle of this in the fridge...it's as essential as salt and pepper! A dash or two with your favourite gin, perhaps a splash of water, and hey presto a pink gin as sipped by British Naval officers in the officer's mess. The same with vodka...yes, it works.A dash with soda gives a lovely stomach calming long drink....Angostura bitters was originally conceived as a stomach corrective. I absolutely have to have a bottle of this in the fridge continuously...the price is excellent...and the product is legendary! It's the Worcestershire sauce of the cocktail world!

Lovely stuff and very medicinal. If you have an upset tummy or the runes or even intestinal worms this product is reputed to be able to treat it thanks to the gentian root it contains. In addition to using it in cocktails (famously the old fashioned but it works great in drinks that feature citrus flavours; try, for example, some grapefruit juice, jack daniels and a few dashes of angostura) I also like a shot with a can of soda served over ice. A sublime, fragrant and refreshing drink on a hot summer's day. It's normally quite expensive in supermarkets so finding it at a reduced price on Amazon is very useful. If you use it in cocktails rather than drinking it neat as I do a bottle should lastyou quite some time.

Just the most amazing clovey-orangery spicy bitterness that is utterly sublime when used sparingly in a good gin. Where have you been all my life?! I will always have a bottle of this in the fridge from now on. A good dash of this in the glass mixed with a half measure of good vermouth and topped up with gin makes a wonderful Martini. Alternatively a dash of Angostura in the base of a martini glass and fill the glass with the gin of your choice and you have the classic pink gin....simple, utterly delicious and very refined! A complex multi layered taste that also gives great colour....I totally love this stuff! Awesome!

I got this item for my Husband as he really enjoys his Gin and so adding the Angostura bitters it makes a fine pink Gin and he says gives a lovely flavour. Of course you can use this in food also which is great. This sellers prices are fantastic in comparison to other sellers who's prices are so over the top you would not believe. So I certainly be using this seller again. Thank you seller for the sensible price you sell at.

Although in recent years the world of bitters has become fiercely competitive, Angostura has still retained its place at the hear of the table. Just a couple dashes turns whiskey and eggs into a glamorous whiskey sour, gives an old fashioned it's namesake flavour or adds death and complexity to a host of other drinks. If your just getting into cocktails this is one thing you'll need to have.

I bought this so that I could mix my own "Old Fashioned" cocktails and haven't been disappointed, I'm yet to try it as some others have suggested as a digestif but I can imagine it'd work as it has those really deep, natural flavours and feel to it. Should last for ages as not a lot's needed to add to a drink, I'd recommend that everyone should add a bottle of this to their drinks cabinet

Bought these on a suggestion from a friend. Best decision of my life. The sweetness and the bitterness balance in this is just amazing.Apart from helping me make an Old Style this is ending up in all of my drinks now. Gin mixes, whiskey mixes, vodka mixes.. you name it..If you want to add another dimension to your drinks, you cant go wrong with the Angosture Bitter.

I first discovered this along with cocktails about 37 years ago - it is indispensable for numerous cocktails. But it is also useful in soft drinks - squeeze the juice of a lemon into a glass with ice, add a dash of elderflower and a few squishes of Angustura and top up with sparkling water and you have a hugely refreshing, flavourful non alcoholic drink.

3.7.2019

I decided to buy some non-alcoholic gin to try it out, and at the same time I remembered how much Angostura Bitters can pep up a G&T or can be used to make a "proper" pink gin. The non-alco stuff is much tastier with a couple of splashes of Angostura Bitters, and it adds a delicious zing to a regular G&T too. Recommended, although a bit expensive IMO.

Well, Bitters are bitters - make a lovely drink with Tonic Water, and these are them. They are getting harder to find, even big supermarkets don't seem to stock them - maybe 'cos a bottle will last a very long time.Excellent price, the packaging was amazing, more bubble warp than you can wave a stick at.The bottle was safe alright. so, very happy.

6.12.2020

Angostura Bitters are mainly intended as a flavouring for drinks but you can also use it as a digestive for stomach problems. Dilute a couple of dashes in a little water and drink. I personally like the flavour - it's not that bitter.I take it morning and evening and find it calms my stomach greatly reducing my GERDS. Try it!

4.2.2017

I'm not sure what can be said about Angostura bitters except this - it's a good purchase if you get it below £10 on offer. At the £14+ price it is over priced for what it is.However, you're stuffed if you need it for the 'dashes' in cocktails that those cocktail books keep telling you about. You're going to buy it anyway.

These bitters have been around for decades and have no real challengers: excellent as an adding to mixers for an added 'kick' but also to make an extremely refreshing drink unique to South Africa; a rock shandy (50% lemonade, 4 or 5 dashes of bitters, topped up with soda water - NB: MUST be mixed in that order!).

Created in the 1830s by a certain Dr Siegert in Venezuela in the town of Angostura, these bitters are a preparation of gentian originally intended for treating stomach complaints. It was adopted by the British Navy as a medicine for seasickness, but it was soon discovered that it partnered rather well with
