It provides everything you'd need to make the volcano - paints, plaster of paris, mold, instructions. Only things you'd need to get yourself are vinegar and baking soda. I could have made a volcano myself but I wanted a nicer look and I felt this volcano looked nicer than many of the other DIY volcanoes I've seen on Youtube videos and online, so I am very pleased with it. You could also reuse the outer part of the mold to make multiple copies of volcanoes using plaster of paris that you can buy from art supply shops for instance, but you'd need to find your own cylindrical shaped plastic body (e.g. plastic bottle or 35 mm film cylinder) to form the volcano "crater" for the baking soda and vinegar to react in.I would say the instructions are fine, but somewhat inadequate regarding how to deal with plaster of paris. All it says on the instructions is that you should never wash plaster of paris down the sinkholes in your house, but it does not tell you how else to get rid of it and how to clean the utensils you've used to mix the plaster! I've had to Google around and there were all sorts of websites, all sorts of advice. The best one I've found (in my opinion), is one which says to use paper towels/kitchen towels to quickly wipe off most of the plaster of paris from the utensils that came in contact with the stuff. I actually did a pretty good job of this so much so that my bowl and spoon (that I used to mix the plaster) looked clean at the end. Obviously, you should throw all your used paper towels/kitchen towels into the bin rather than the toilet after wiping down, because it could cause similar problems as throwing the plaster down the sinkhole. If there is any little bit of residue left on your utensils, simply soak in a bucket of cold water. I soaked mine overnight, just in case, even though they were pretty much spotless. Next day, simply pour away the cold water on your garden patch/plants/etc. Just DO NOT pour it down any drains or sinkholes. Job done.

This volcano is brilliant and quite realistic. I first bought this for an 8 year old nephew for Christmas 2017. He loved it, so I bought it for my 6 year old grandson. He had loads of fun, making it one day and painting it the next. After the paint dried, we set it off. We used an old tray to stand it on as it is obviously messy. You need a plentiful supply of bicarbonate of soda and vinegar. Under supervision and watched by his 4 year old sister who was equally excited we put the included baking soda in the top of the volcano and poured vinegar on. It bubbled and fizzled just as lava comes out of the volcano. We did it several times with our own bi carb and if it is painted a mix of yellow, reds and browns, it looks hot and very realistic. They had so much fun that I have now bought a further kit for another 5 year old granddaughter and can't wait to do it again.

Good interesting activity for my 7 year old daughter. She enjoyed making the volcano and painting it and then making the lava with the bicarbonate of soda & vinegar. It states to add a drop of washing up liquid and some paint to enhance the eruption which we did. (Not included if anybody wasn't sure). Loved by the kids but don't expect anything too exciting.Thoroughly enjoyed by her classmates as she was allowed to take it into class to show everybody. Nice product which can be used over and over again, and even repainted if you wanted to.

I bought the 'Great Gizmos - Volcano Making Kit' kit as a present for a 12 year old. She really enjoyed making the volcano and painting it, I just assumed it would take ages to set and dry out BUT it was rock hard and ready to paint within around 30 min of pouring into the mould !! Younger children will need a little help from parents but not the older ones as the instructions are so simple to follow. Fantastic, super fast results . . . Would most definitely recommended this.

This simple little kit was great fun for my 6 year old boy. It requires an adult to supervise, unless you want plaster stuck all over the house and down the drain. It includes plaster, a volcano shaped plastic mould and paints. It doesn't get a perfect 5 stars because the kit doesn't come with the chemicals that you need to make the volcano explode... you have to buy baking soda and vinegar/lemon juice separately.

The kit was really good and my little sister enjoyed making it. There was enough plaster to fill the mould, and paint to make it look realistic. The only negatives are:The plastic mould leaked a little bit when we put plaster in.They could of included a little sachet of baking powder and vinegar as it really isn't that expensive to put it in.Overall I was pleased with the purchase.

Enjoyed by my grandchildren aged 6, 7, and 11. They liked making the models - which all turned out fine - and painting them. The eruptions weren't quite as dramatic as we'd hoped, but the volcanoes are re-useable and we're going to try again with different amounts/balances of vinegar and bicarbonate of soda. it's great to find something that appeals across the age range.

I bought this volcano as a present for a friend's son (aged 6) - he and his dad had great fun assembly and painting the volcano and even more fun watching it explode. It's been great as it's not just been a one off gift as they keep finding different ways and different concoctions to make the volcano explode! A good buy - happy children, happy parents!

Bought this as a "well if they dont like it its not expensive" kinda thing. Turns out my girls (aged 6 & 7) love it!! We have used it loads of times, they enjoyed making the volcano erupt and it turned into a competition to see who could "kill" the little cardboard cut out people with the lava first. Would def buy this again for friends birthdays.

I bought this for my 7 year old who was doing a school project on volcanoes. We made it together, very easy to do, clear instructions. My son enjoyed painting it and was very 'creative' with his colours. We managed to stick it onto a large piece of cardboard and created a little scene with houses and people running from the lava. Great fun.

this is amazing I have brought 7 of these myself and I brought the 7 after one use. the only thing I have to say is it is not as big as I expected but other then that easy to make and it turnes out amazing. But when you do make you do need to put the included elastic bands over mould there are little dent were it they are ment to go

I bought this toy for my 7-year-old niece. She took it to school so they all could try it out. All the children loved it so did their teacher. I really recommend this toy and I like buying it as birthday present for other kids. With parental help I think younger children enjoy this kit as well. And for the price you can't go wrong.

I bought this for my 4yr old nephew, and together with some food colouring we had a ball making the volcano erupt in different colours. His 2yr old brother also loved it, helping with painting and generally getting messy. What a delight! Would recommend for any child that like to get their hands dirty. Would definitely buy again.

We purchased this item along with a chemistry set for our grandsons 6th birthday, he loved it!!! he enjoyed making the mould out of plaster paris, & then to paint it he was beside himself by the time he got to actually try it, & he was not dissapointed time & time again with red food colouring it is fab!!!

This kit is easy to assemble and the plaster of paris is smooth so you get a good, even finish ready to paint. I have reused mine many times by using a 35mm camera film canister to replace the part that you put your soda and vinegar in to get the eruption. Overall, easy and simple to use.
