I saw this cake tin a few days before my baby's 2nd birthday and knew I must have it to make his dino birthday cake! Initially I wanted to do the cake and decorate it as per the photo because it looks fab. Come 11pm on the night before his birthday I had still not baked the cake and thought it would be a simple matter of greasing the tin and shaking in some flour to prevent sticking. Almost an hour later, when the cake had baked and cooled, I tried to get it out of the tin. It was stuck, and no matter how I tried to unstick it, it wouldnt come away. Eventually, it came away in about 4 pieces. So, I had to start again. I wasnt risking the next one sticking so I spent the best part of 45 minutes cutting out bits of baking paper and sticking the pieces in the tin.I decided to make a chocolate cake now as i knew i wouldn't have time to decorate it like i had wanted. Anyway, the cake came out of the oven, cooled and came away from the tin perfectly. At this point, I just wanted to do simple decoration, so I followed the lines on the cake and piped on some vanilla and chocolate fudge icing. My little boy loved his cake and the way his face lit up when he saw the dino chocolate cake made staying up until 4am totally worth it ?I would recommend this cake tin, BUT I would recommend buying the special cake release spray too if you dont want to spend ages cutting out bits of baking paper!

Bought this product after reading all the reviews. First few efforts were a DISASTER and I was disheartened! First effort came out looking like a doughnut, all edge and a massive hole in the middle. Second effort a little better. Bought some cake release spray and third effort was perfect. Use a 4 egg sponge mix for the bottom and a 3 egg sponge mix for the top and cook each half separately as the base takes longer than the top. Base takes about 55 minutes on 160' and top takes about 50 minutes on 160' Leave until completely cold (about 2 hours) before attempting to tip the cake out otherwise it does go all 'bitty' on the sides. When cold it comes out perfectly smooth. There has always been a dip in the middle of the inside of the base which is nice to fill with jam/butter cream as otherwise it is quite a heavy cake to eat without it. Persevere!!!!!! Have used a silicone mold and it is rubbish in comparison!

It was fun to try this and it produced a cake that looked like the tin. I used a classic Victoria Sponge cake batter and buttered the tin realy well, and 30m at 190C produced a moist cake with well browned crust, all of which was delicious. You do have to be great at icing for the cake to retain the dinosaur features after decorating - just spooning on buttercream means it ends up looking like a mystery green blog. It's hard to clean, so soak it for ages, then scrub well. The best feature is that because the tin looks like a dinosaur, my 3yr old niece was excited to help me bake the cake :)

Not used this tin yet as for my ribs birthday I will update then if necessary but it looks to be good quality and is thin but solid material. In my experience Wilton make excellent tins so I hope this to be no different. It is a decent size. Only down side is all measurements of required batter and icing are in US measures so although it's not difficult to convert them it takes extra time and as Wilton have an extensive UK market it's a shame these aren't already done for easeI have now had chance to use this tin it is excellent quality cake cake out with no issue with flouring tin.

A good cake tin to use for a novelty cake. The results turned out well. I had to do a bit of research for a suitable cake mix to use as it’s an American cake tin but I gussed the American pound cake was similar to our Victoria sponge cake mix . A 5 egg sponge cake mixture fits in well and gives good results. The cake I made was used for a Baby’s 1st Birthday cake smash. The mum was delighted, the photographer was impressed but the child didn’t like the texture of the buttercream frosting! Will definitely use again . I have already dreamed up some tasty flavoured & design ideas.

This tin is very good. I used it with the bake easy spray from wilton and the shape was just as expected and it slided right out of the pan. Beware that the tin is a bit longer than normal cakes so depending on your fridge it may not fit inside so make sure you take that into account before buying. I made my own decorating for the cake although I thought it was quite helpful that it came with instructions on how to decorate with icing. I might just give that a try next time. I made this cake for my brother's birthday and it was a success. Highly recommend.

Very good quality cake tin, which has produced a fantastic looking cake.Comes with good instructions, even telling you how to decorate it to look like the picture on the label (looks like far too much effort for an amateur like me!), and suggests an extended cooking time. With regards to size, I used one box of Betty Crocker premixed Devil Cake (takes approx 400ml of fluid + 3 medium eggs), and it pretty much filled the mould perfectly, once cooked.I used Coconut Oil to grease the tin, and had no issues with sticking (see the pic).

I cant even tell you how long i spent working out which no 1 tin to buy but settled on this one as didn't like the shape of others especially as this was to be my first go at fondant - so glad I went for this one it's a fantastic tin which served me well for my son's birthday last year and will be coming out once again for my newborn at end of this year. Cake was really good size & not too big or small. just wish I was good at baking now haha

Worked well but not an even bake. Edges looked over cooked and dry but weren’t as bad as expected. I’m a keen cake maker so not my first time.Son was happy too. Thumbs up. It was a bit fiddly to ice (butter icing) but I got there as I have an icing gun (considering I’d never used one before). Would have done better with more practice and a thicker buttercream mix. But you learn. Photo is rubbish as I forgot to take one??‍♀️

I used a velvety cake mixture (1 pack for a 2 layer cake/3 eggs) and it was a perfect size. Also used readymade Betty Crocker vanilla icing with fondant icing for teeth.I melted butter into every mm of the pan and shook off excess flour. 180 degrees for 45 mins. Waited for 10 minutes to cool a little before flipping over and it slid out perfectly. So happy with the outcome. Will try baking from scratch next time.

I decided to invest in this to be more creative with my birthday cakes (not just round or square). So glad I did as you can make many designs from this 3D tin e.g. football, dragonball z, to animals. The rings come with it to sit the tins on to keep upright in the oven (I noticed some sellers didn’t have rings with their tins & peoples reviews reflected the problems they had!).

Bought this over a year ago now for my wee girls 1St bday. Used the recipe on here and it was the nicest cake ever. Thought I'd leave a review since I had to do a wee search for the recipe for my wee boys 1St bday soon. Tin was fine, can't comment too much as I never bake but everyone commented on how nice the cake tasted. So thanks to the person who left the recipe!

My grandson loves dinosaurs at the moment so I purchased this cake tin for his birthday cake. I also bought Wilton Cake Release as it was recommended. Fantastic - the coating of the cake release was perfect and the cake came out of the tin with ease. It showed all the outlines of the dinosaur which will make it easier to decorate producing a very life like creature.

Overall a great novelty cake tin but be sure to line this really well. I used oil spray on my first attempt and the poor dinosaur was extinct before he got out the tin. Second time I lined with a ton of butter and flour and he worked perfectly. As long as you don’t scrimp on preparing your tin this turns out really well. My grandson loved his birthday cake

I made this dinosaur cake for a birthday party and it came out beautifully! I used the Wilton cake release spray in the tin with a basic Victoria sponge recipe and the cake came out of the tin without any problems. The instructions for icing are pretty easy to follow, although it helps to keep a copy of the picture handy. My finished cake looked brilliant!
