There were 2 main reasons I was very interested in this game when I first heard of it's release:1. I love the film Troy, and the story of Achilles.2. I am a huge fan of the Dynasty Warriors series by Koei.Really, this game is massively directed at people who fit the above 2 categories.I have always compared Achilles with the Dynasty Warriors legend Lu Bu. Both the best of their time, both served rather fat and incredibly arrogant, ambitious rulers (Agamemnon and Dong Zhuo) and both suffered their downfall by falling in love with a servant girl/handmaiden (Briseis/Diao Chan). So when the opportunity arose with this game to play out the legend of troy in the hack and slash thriller style of the Warriors series,I was thrilled! and for me personally, it did not disappoint. (and now even better that I can play as them both at the same time, on the same team on the same battlefield in a Dynasty Warriors style game called 'Warriors Orochi 3.')I was surprised at a previous review on here that criticized the game for not having enough strategy and role playing, and for being nothing more than a button basher. This is probably due to the fact he had never experienced any Dynasty Warriors or Samurai Warriors games before. The game is true to the series, hence why it is called " 'Warriors': Legends of Troy " rather than just Legends of Troy.Basically, the idea of the game is you fight as a famous warrior on the battlefield, slaying hordes of enemy soldiers to assist your allies and win the battle. The game allows you to interchange character at each stage as you progress through the story and play out key battles each hero was involved in.In comparison to the film, the similarities are uncanny, some of the characters have a familiar look to those in the film (Particularly Menelaus and Achilles) and the stages have similar look about them, which, for those who have seen the film, gives a familiar feel for the history of the game. Also, that move that Achilles does when he runs up and sticks his sword through the neck of the giant enemy general at the beginning of film, you can do that...:)The story is told more from the perspective of Greek mythology unlike the film which tells it from more of a historical context, but the main events of the campaign are the same, with just a few differences in how the story is told and progresses. (like the fact that Patroclus is actually a half decent fighter)The gameplay allows you to purchase upgrades for your character in between battles that allow you additional combo moves, much like unlocking a better weapon did in the old dynasty warriors games, power up your stats like attack and defense, or have special effects like making your allies stronger. these can then be passed from hero to hero as you progress the story. The battle play also has the same feel to it as the dynasty warriors series but with a twist, a certain difference which is hard to explain but extremely satisfying, in the fact that the battle is visually much more graphical and bloodthirsty, with punishing finisher moves where you stick your sword through the enemies head, and watch spots of blood hit the camera as you send your sword through the spine of an unsuspecting Trojans back, which dynasty warriors has never had. in that way, the battle feels more realistic compared to DW and is much more like the film 300. The game does not have much re-play value other than for those like myself that just want to live out the battles of ancient Troy again and again.Overall a good fun game to play for lovers of battlefield action and Trojan History.

Warriors: Legends of Troy takes all the fast paced action, massive numbers of enemies and diverse cast of playable characters that Koei fans have come to love from the Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors franchise and boots it into touch with modern gaming. The main fix is that the mechanics of combat have been enhanced to provide variety and tactics. The previous games suffered from button bashing fatigue, where the best tactic was just to mash the square button, cutting an airy path through enemy soldiers and officers alike. In Legends of Troy, that tactic might work on novice level soldiers, but the majority will just block your attacks. You need to use a combination of bash attacks to put them off-guard,quick slash attacks to reduce their health and focused attacks to finish them off. Each enemy officer has a different attack pattern and needs different tactics to defeat. For the first time, attacks actually graphically connect with an enemy and have different outcomes based on the situation. It all provides for much more variety and satisfaction.Other tweaks include the addition of monstrous bosses, regular health replenishment based on the numbers (and method) of enemies killed, and a levelling up system which works across all characters simultaneously. The addition of blood and graphic death scenes may be unwelcome to some Dynasty Warrior fans, but are very much in keeping with Homer's account of the war. In fact the game does a good job of sticking to the myth of Troy, and as an archaeologist, it is one of the few games where I haven't been dismayed by their rendering of history (unlike Bladestorm, which made me vomit). To sum up, a fun hack and slash game, with a decent narrative thread. If you are a fan of Dynasty Warriors, you'll be impressed. If you've never played Dynasty Warriors, you're in for a treat.

This game is fantastic. The graphics are great the theatrical movies really add to the engrossing storyline and encourages you to keep playing. I like the simple controls and gameplay. However the thing that stops it from getting five stars in my opinion is a lack of an online mode.I hope that they will continue with other titles because there is a gap in the market for this kind of game.

Enjoyed playing this game its good fun and has flashes of brilliance at times, after a slow start things quickly heat up with a furious pace at times theres also the challenge modes which adds more variety-Maybe an aquired taste for some gamers but worth at least a rental.

This game is great fun and has a cinematic polish to it that everyone will enjoy. Based on the historical events that took place at troy but with a touch of mythology thrown in for good measure, it really does suck you in to the story.
