This is an interesting idea, although it's aimed at children (over 9), it's really more suited for adults who would use on something like a cake for example.Aside from the pen, the box includes instructions, mould trays, nozzles, and a dozen bags for chocolate. The moulds are pretty basic and you could just melt some chocolate in there and use just as well, but it's the pen where it comes into it's own. The chocolate is melted and you can draw free hand images or text and really personalise cakes or other items. It's a clever idea and while it's easy to use, it's also a bit fiddly to use - you have to chop up chocolate, pop it into the bag, then into hot water to melt, then into the pen, then use.You could purchase the chocolate bags but they are very expensive for what you get - it's a shame you don't get one included with it. You also don't get batteries included which is more of a nuisance. It's a good idea, put poorly implemented - if it was easier to use (maybe the chocolate melted inside the pen?) then it would get more use. It's recommended for a few uses and for special occasions as it's something that works well if you put in the time to get the most from it, but won't be used on a regular basis.

i want to love it. i want to give it 5 stars as it is amazing. my LO tried this at a friends and loved it so much we bought for her birthday and she opened it yesterday. you've never seen a more excited kid. out of all her gorgeous presents, this was 'the one'. loaded it up with chocolate. all ready. ... after an hour trying, we've given up trying to unscrew the battery compartment. literally can't do it. am extremely able. no toy phases me. but this is insane. daughter crying. desperate to get it to work. doesn't understand why we cant make it work. all very frustrating. all we want to do is load it up with batteries and for her to enjoy the pen. such a shame. maybe a faulty one?maybe the screws are glued in?! not sure. but wish it was easier...that's why i have docked a star. i know how fab this product CAN be

Went through a set of batteries very quickly so I'm hoping that my batteries were the issue and not the pen. Very easy to set up and use. My 7 year old found it easy to use and had no difficulties moving it. We have tried it with different types of chocolate as well as harder to work with dairy free chocolate and it works well with all of them. Hard to clean but definitely a fantastic buy for anyone who enjoys time in the kitchen it who may need a little encouragement to spend time in the kitchen. Great for adults who need a little help when cake decorating.

Massive disappointment. The pushing part does not move. It just slides in and out, but the little engine cannot even push it as the cog dies not engage. Daughter was so upset. We prepared all the chocolate just oto find out it doesn't do anything apart from buzzing sound!Edit: Actually my fault. It works! What has heppened it was me overthinking things instead try and use it. The cog engages when it lowers when the pen is closed.

The pen comes with spare nozzles and chocolate bags. The bags are easy to fill with any chocolate of your choice. You can re-use the bags and everything is very easy to clean. I don't really understand the poor reviews. It's a toy pen for writing with chocolate. It does what it's meant for, well built and well designed. My daughter loves playing with it.

Works alot better than I thought it would. A little fiddly and it's a shame you don't get any chocolate with it. I've used just normal milk chocolate and food colouring with white chocolate which works well and a lot cheaper.

Definitely for older children as it can be fiddly to use the pen but my younger daughter loved using the moulds
